He leans into the musicality that is in the drawl it makes sense why the mouth shape is so relaxed since the southern approach to many terms is to drop off letters.

I would compare his sound to an organ the way he holds his notes out and then brings those warm vibratos.
Samoht turned an otherwise boring song that I've grown tired of hearing (thanks to music competition shows lol) into a song that I now love again.
