Truly a convergence of art and engineering. Anyone who is a car build fan has to love this stuff. This is hotrodding of the future. We had it so easy back in the day. Buy a muscle car for cheap, swap a few engine parts etc. and good to go.

Great Video! Is the LS3 engine a good candidate for a 1996 LX450? I've seen your other FZJ80 videos and after seeing the LS3 in this K5 was wondering what you thought about putting it in an "upcoming" FZJ80...perhaps mine.

I appreciate that even the owner considers that the price for such a vehicle is astronomical. He is honest and it's plainly obvious that they are dumping a shit ton of technology, engineering, skills and hardware. Not to mention time and effort into a super premium re-work of a fairly rare vehicle that would turn heads anyway. So, regardless of his asking price, simply doing all this effort more than justifies everything. If I had the money, I'd buy it in a heart beat! Seriously, if you got such a vehicle you can expect it to go another 200,000 miles and be solid the whole way. Better than any Mercedes or high end production car.

Those bumpers don’t look good at all, sorry Jonathan! Should have stuck with factory, unless the owner “really” headed out ‘wheeling. Hello Jonathan. Another interesting project completed. The K5 Blazer might be considered a bit of a forgotten classic. Another forgotten classic is the International Scout and I wonder when one will find its way to your shop? It is just a matter of time and that would be an interesting project as well.
The part of this video that I really appreciate is your explanation of the build process. Your shop tour videos are always great. However, your expanded explanation really details the deconstruction process, build teams, fit and finishing, paint procedures (surprisingly offsite) and most importantly the final stages of reconstruction at Icon. This really gives a visual of the full extent of planning put into an Icon project. Thanks for another great "geek out" video.

I would compare these to Bentley, hand built and very detailed and look what those things cost and you can't fjord a creek in it. Hey JW has anyone asked for a wood veneer across the dash of your BR's or FJ's?

Stunning. I had a 1972 GMC Jimmy that I took the original fiberglass roof and cut down to make a rather short pickup truck. I used the cab off a 67 for the rear window section. (Small rear window) The roof was still removable. I always liked the GMC over the Chevy just because of the grill. I find the GMC just to be a little more classy with the four headlights. The other thing I did was I had a hood from a 67. I just find it looks nicer with the front layed back on a 45 degree angle over the stock 90 degree.

Unless things have changed, and or the definition of polyurea has changed. LineX is a hybrid polyurethane that does not qualify as a polyurea, which is a 100% solid material. I have seen the proof. LineX, accelerates rust, because it is corrosive and a hybrid urethane. If you are actually familiar with restorations. You know that when you break a body down and scrape off the factory seam sealers,,...which are a urethane product... you will find rust. It holds and traps water, in its molecular make up, as well as breaks down as a liquid over time. You are....Sealing, your own fate of these vehicles by using a hybrid polyurea, which is simply masking itself as a polyurethane in a knights armor. LineX, is by far an inferior product, to what you may think it is, or what is available around you. (despite the fact that you are paying at least double the price for what you think it should be.) I have a glascraft MH machine that has sprayed thousands of gallons of polyureas for the DOD, and I'm in the southeast, so I don't have a dog in your fight on this, but you are sold on a product that simply just looks good, but does not do a thing that you think it does. A true polyurea is defined by the PDA, and it is as close as one can get to plastic injection, outside of a controlled environment. Hybrid polyureas are meant to be sprayed in cheap ass machines that look good and there is never a need to "bake it". It is already 180 degrees, (give or take set time variables for pressure variants), when it hits the surface and heats up from there in chemical reaction. It creates its own bake room by simply applying it. Don't feel bad though... I could not count you the people that have been sold a complete line of shit. This complete line of shit though, ???, I know well.

I worked at a Land Rover dealer and we had plenty of customers that would stroke 150k checks for Rovers every couple of years. Compared to those pieces of shit this wonderful vehicle is a bargain. This is not a lot of money for people who live in a different world than we do. And they do.

Needs to be 2 tone. Maybe a darker color for the top, like black or gunmetal. And way too nice inside for an SUV. Needs bedliner floors and rear cargo area and simple vinyl or durable cloth seats. Those were meant to take the family out to the mountains or the lake for the weekend, NOT for some rich person to drive on the highway and never use for its intended purpose. I guarantee that thing ended up costing someone 6 figures. Yeah, it's nice... but it's really a waste of a perfectly good Blazer.

The quality of these builds gets your blood stirring, but so does the production of the videos that showcase these machines. I'm sure there is a lot of cutting and do overs, but the end product is smooth and without aahs and mums and jumping around. You don't have to sit through 5 minutes of the guy playing with his pitbull or showing that he can drink beer. The cuts to show the item being discussed are great and you don't get 15 minutes of a "tallying head". Thanks and keep it up.

First thing I noticed ( ua-cam.com/video/jAOmUSO-piQ/v-deo.html) was that the glass in the headlights sits lower, thus asymmetric, versus the original K5 (fully symmetrical in the square). I cannot unsee it since it changes the 'stare' of the car. Since details are everything I assume it was a deliberate choice.

Oh so very nice. Why can't you buy something like this from the OEM's any more?

First vehicle I ever drove. Tough as nails. I abused the crap out of it as a teen. It will not pamper you. A 'man's truck.'

You need to show the vehicle more than you show yourself pal. We watch the video to watch the truck not you🤦🏻

I like the plain-ness of this truck, mechanically and cosmetically. Either the client has really good taste, or just wanted it to do a job and do it well. Very nice.

Amazing truck, but that Corvette engine cover sticks out like a sore thumb, was this a request from the customer? I would have expected a custom one from Icon or worst case, a blank one.
In any case, it's a beautiful truck, I'm a huge fan of your work, specially with the Land Cruisers. Have you ever owned or thought about building up a 70 series Land Cruiser?

Looks like maybe a six inch lift with 35 inch tires. I could be wrong.

Arg. You have done it again. I have shamelessly watched every video you have put out. This truck is my new unicorn. I'd loose the leafs and request a Johnny joint architecture but none the less, I am obsessed. Thanks for doing these!
