Being a K5 blazer fan forever this one is just stunning, ive owned 3 in my lifetime and even though I'm a jeep guy now I still have a special place for the K5
Had an 85 k10 single cab, then kid 2 was born and I had to get a “family truck.” So I picked up an 89 K5. Sold it and got into Jeeps a couple years back. Found an 86 K5 nearby for a deal, now I have both Jeeps and a K5. Never stop looking. You never know.
Wow. I love Dennis. He seems so trustworthy. So real. His voice commands attention and his attitude is sooo cool. I would buy anything from him with total confidence.
I had a 79 K5 Cheyenne with every option and a 400 with 4 bbl. Loved that truck! I think that I will spend the rest of the day kicking my ass for selling it 22 years ago!
I have a 77 Chevy cheyenne k5 blazer. Very little rust and has never been in an accident. I'm the the third owner according to my father. It is not numbers matching. Built in flint michigan for California for the year 77. Original it had 350 small block with turbo 350 trans and np203 transfer case. It now gas 383 stroker crate motor from gm performance parts, a built 700r4 transmission, and rebuilt np205 transfer case. My father is passed on now. I told him and mom I would fully restore the k5 with time. I'm honered to see such a person like u in this video giving positive support for the old k5's.
Honestly finding perfect old classics like that is probably the hardest thing to do anymore. most have been slammed, lifted, stripped into parts or turned to something that cost so much just because of the unoriginal parts. classic cars have been slowly disappearing and it’s heart breaking to watch car by car disappear or become something that doesn’t show it’s history. honestly thank you so very much for not doing what most would do and completely making the vehicle mostly aftermarket and over priced. thank you for keeping the original look of the truck and especially the motor!
I had a 1980 K5 Blazer, I took my driving test in that truck. 350 with a three speed and granny low. There was nowhere I could not go in that truck!! Had a Ramsey monster wench up front. Yes Sir!! Brings back a flood of memories!! One of the top three most asinine things I've ever done in my life!! And that's sell my truck!!! Sold it when I was 21 and bought a Harly Davidson.
We had very similar past I had a 79. Bought mine in 1983. With in a year I had a 6-in lift with 35s and a b&m supercharger. Lol almost forgot the Laker pipes on the side. The good old days.
I'm pretty sure that I have watched this video 12 times. I have owned 2 K-5 blazers. One was a 79 with a 400 small block n a 400 turbo tranny. Loved it. Then got a 85 with LS2 and a 350 turbo transmission the same colors as the one in the video. I wish I still had them both
MAn that interior sends me back. I can still smell the inside of my grandfathers Chevy....smelled like fishing tackle and mud. He always smelled like gasoline.
Same! Except for me it was my dad he’s still going strong but when I was little I remember he had one of these and it smelled like Marlboro red and field sulfur lol
Beautiful K5 Dennis. I love these earlier SUVs and have had many I have bought and did partial restorations on. I sell most after I redo them but my current keepers are 2 Broncos (68 and 77), 2 K5 Blazers (72 and 75), a 1980 Ramcharger, a 1969 International Harvester Scout, and a 68 Jeep Wagoneer. Just found your channel and love it.
This has to be the nicest Square Body I've seen in a very long time. If I was in the states, I'd be coming over with a bag full of dollars toot sweet. I'm a Mopar guy at heart, but I'd just have to have this. Hell yeah.
WOW brings back memories. I had a 77 K5 Blazer when I was 19.. Used to take the top off and cruise around. Then did a lift kit, big tires and then finally sold it. Loved that truck.

Thanks for sharing this with us. My parents used to have a 79 with 305 and full time four wheel. Custom deluxe in Mariner blue metallic with white top. These old k5s and k series trucks from the 70s are the best 👍
Wow I absolutely LOVE what you did with the Blazer. Its perfect and in amazing shape considering 9 out of 10 are rusted out. The black on the sides makes it look so much better and you would be crazy to not keep the black vinyl on. Awesome truck and thanks for sharing with us Dennis! 👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥❤
Beautiful truck!!!!! Love the touches you put on the truck! Those are the best trucks compared to Broncos and Ramchargers of the same vintage. They were head of their time I feel. Great video as always! Love the ride along! Please do that more!
What was head of their time? They all had the same basic setup, solid axles, leaf springs front and back besides the Bronco. Coils in the front. Basically the same technology. 6Cyl or V8, 3spd auto or 4 standard.
My first car was a 79 Blazer, red with white stripe and white top. What a beast! Use to take the back seat out, load up friends and hit the drive-in for $5 Sunday car load in 1992.
The year I was born. Needless to say, that truck has aged a lot better than I have. Not to mention been better taken care of. Would love to own a vehicle from year I was born. Own a 03 Sonoma Crew Cab currently.
Remember Arnold in "Commando", he pushed a K5 down a mountain and jumped in, rode the sucker all the way down! These trucks are BEASTS!!! I have a 1995 GMC 2-Door Yukon myself.
I had a 77 blazer from new ( stripped version), but the back top came off, it had a 350ci, , I put BFGs on it, and a Craig stereo with Jensen Triax speakers, it was sweet, LOVE THIS VIDEO
I always wondered how Dennis and Richard Rawlings were even friends as they have opposite personalities it seems....Imagine Richard doing the same video with all the woo hoos and get you some of that's , plus the beer assistant....Dennis seems som much more like someone I would want to do business with. My opinion anyway.

We don’t need to worry bout their relationship tho. Just be thankful that we. Ave the ability to learn from Dennis as much as we do and let him be friends with anyone he wants
1978 was the first year of the “Sand Box” cut out in the rear floor for a place to put your feet. And the rear seat fold up I believe started in 77 !! Awesome 78 K5
Gorgeous truck! I had a ‘99 (last of the square bodies) GMC Yukon, that I bought new from Sewell. It was 4 door and that silver color to which I had the dealer add black fender flairs. Tan leather interior and loaded. MAN, I wish I still had that truck!
That is freaking awesome! As much as I would like to see chevy remake these again, still will never be as good as the old ones. That is still my dream truck!
I’d just got my drivers license when this blazer was new....I remember coveting a brand new blazer almost exactly like this one. It sat in the front lot right next to my high school and I saw it for sale every day I went to school. If I was a rich man, I’d own one now. I still covet this one after all these years .....
