F1 won't be back before summer i think. The race is vietnam is almost 100% sure to be canceled, and Bahrein doesn't give good feedback now. So it's almost sure there will be no races until may at least.

Can you even get a private jet fueled and ready on such short notice? Airports run on a strict timeline to that every flight takes off and lands on time, it'll be difficult to try to fit anything in in between on short notice.

@@techtipsuk Right on. This epidemic has changed in the course of days. Hindsight is 20-20. I work in a global company and whilst it seemed like business is usual one day. The next day and hour to hour it changes, so I agree that with sponsors, with agreements, with constant pressure whilst it took a while, and the right decisions got made. With constant communication with people that are sponsors. Its not that they think cash is king, but they need to be transparent and consider everything that needs to happen.

Exactly. Terrible decision from the FIA. Once Mclaren pulled out, it should have been immediate to prevent fans travelling - but they put finances first.

Rixope i dont know which announcement you watched but until 2 hours before the start of the FP1 session we had nothing but supposedly “credible sources” provided by Sky Sport and BBC telling the race would be cancelled. Even when the gates (should have) opened in the morning did the FIA not give a statement on of the weekend as a whole would continue or be cancelled. Its was only about 2 hours before FP1 that a statement was giving saying the weekend would be cancelled.
@@EncoreVGC FP1 wouldve been at 5AM CET. I got a Notification on my phone at 12:47 AM from the Official F1 App telling me the GP was cancelled.

The whole point of discussing hypotheticals is so that you have an action plan ready to execute when things change. If you don't plan for hypotheticals, the next time you realise it's not feasible to hold an event is when there's only a few hours left before the start of the first activity.
I think that's what happened here . Italians ( Ferrari, torro Rosso aka alpha tauri) , japanese ( Honda red Bull) were getting rejected to enter countries. In that case even if they come I am 100% sure any good leader would be planning if they needed to cancel . I doubt with plans a situation like this were crowd if outside waiting to enter and you are cancelling race weekend due to a disease that spread easily. It can be concluded that it was a case of not well planning. Planning is done is advance so don't know what his excuse is. One week excuse doesn't stand up its totally messed up everywhere. In EPL some matches are cancelled, some with no spectators some with full crowd all at same stadium with same teams.
The journalist asks in hypotheticals to a guy who is supposed to clarify with concrete plan of action planned. Instead he just say anxiously "ya know" every second.

@@AngryChineseWoman While the chance is very low, it's still possible for the virus to spread because everyone's hands are touching the same mic handle, and if proper hygiene isn't practiced, who knows what other parts of the body those hands might touch.
What a bummer....was looking forward to watching the race this weekend. Decision is right... however should have been made two days ago, feel sorry for the people who travelled to be there.

They have been communicating well. You don't seem to understand that the virus is controlling our actions at the moment and the sudden rise in infections in the past few days cancelled all big gatherings in the whole world basically in hours, because we cant make any predictions on the virus.
Sure everyone is disappointed, but acting like this is F1 fault is just childish.

Basically the decision took so long because no one wanted to call it off because it would mean that they would have to wear the financial blame themselves. I understand the reasoning for the cancellation, however not announcing it until 2 hours after gate opening time and having
fans queuing up en masse was a ridiculous state of affairs. All those people in close proximity - hmm.
Poor show on the parts of the FIA and the Formula 1 Grand Prix organization there, a decision should have been announced way earlier.
I hope the fans will get not only their ticket money back but some kind of compensation as many have traveled interstate.
I feel so sorry for all the catering staff too that were trying to do their bit for the struggling farmers and now are likely struggling themselves.
Still, it can't be helped with the current pandemic, I just hope everyone makes it through ok.
