This is such a nostalgic treat for me, in that, strange as it may seem, I was taught this song as an 8 year old boy at School in London in the 1970's. How a Canadian folk song came to be taught us in our little suburban English school I do not know...! But my surname is Oliver, and I loved the tune and the lyrics...and until the wonders of UA-cam I almost thought I had imagined this song... I really want to say-THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

This is a banjo uke (banjolele).
At the Wheel Club you most probably saw me with my tenor banjo which is larger.

I am from Labrador, have met Lew Dite at the Wheel Club in Montreal, and recall in grade 2 we sang this in the school concert. Is that a banjolele, or a tenor banjo? Is it the banjo you brong out in Montreal, it seems kind of small.
