A really nice fingerpicking idea here - catchy riff that will push you forward a bit. Hope you enjoy! Shane
I've been watching UA-cam guitar videos for so long and just now discovered this guy. I am angry at myself for not finding this sooner. Hands down the best teacher on UA-cam.
A big thank you Antrant - cheers! Shane
As a guy who had a stroke about 4 years ago Angus 20 years of experience on acoustic, I used to love to play the song. I got another guitar last year, I can't tell you how much it sucks going from a $2000 fender acoustic electric 250R Yamaha acoustic. But you reminded me how to play this song. It sounds silly but when I play through it I got a little teary-eyed. I want to thank you personally.
this is the best tutorial for this song!! It clicked for me right away Thank you so much!
Thank you Kimberley - very glad to hear it and hope you have fun with it. Happy to have you with us!

Your Taylor just MAKES it !! The only version on YT that actually sounds like the original recording. Do you know what instrument was used by Sheryl or her guitar man? Again, GREAT TONE !!
I’m guessing New Strings are in the mix too - beautiful! Thanks Shane! (SIRI thinks you name is Sean 😂)
Hey thanks for that - a great song. I’m not sure what guitar was used on the original recording. Best to you! Shane
Very good lesson. Thank you.
I’m so glad the first song I learned was Blackbird, it really prepared me. When I started this one I didn’t think I’d get it but I went to sleep after playing it for hours and woke up and I could play it. I love when that happens!
One question though, I noticed in her live performances she’s not strumming during the chorus, but still finger picking. The chords change to what you have here as far as I can see but just wondering if you’ve noticed the picking pattern for her.
There’s a good video on here labeled: Strong Enough - Live in NY (2005) If you have the time, I hope to hear from ya!
Thank you Samantha and sorry for a slow reply - I'll have a look and a listen to see what the patterns might be in the chorus if you fingerpick it - hope you are having fun with it and I'm very glad to have you here with us!
Shane
Great lesson as always with you, Shane. 🎸
Thank you Karen - very glad you enjoyed!
Shane

Shane

Thank you Cynthia - glad to have you with us!
Shane
great lesson, thank you!!!
Thank you Leonard - have fun with it!

Correct. I was missing a few notes on picking the D and Bm. There's another part, though, where it sounds like a D chord in the 10th fret, where the background sings 'are you strong enough'. What's happening there? Thanks 👍
Thanks Dan - other instruments in there for sure. Hope you're having fun with it. Cheers, Shane
Awesome!
Thanks Lance - hope you enjoy!
Shane
Thank you for the lesson. I already practise this little tune for years.
Do you know which kind of guitar reproduces the humble sound of the original recording?
Thank you and greetings from Germany
Michael
What kind of taylor please? Beautiful voice. Great tutorial!
Great lesson thanks. However I can’t get the sheets from your website. The downloads button doesn’t work. It just moves you down the page a little.
Sorry Madeyes6 - I'll fix that. Just head down the page a little further and you will see a red button saying 'Download Guitar At Work Songsheets'
Cheers!
Shane
great lesson but I don't see a download button on my screen.
Thank you Judith - very glad to have you with us here. If you head to shanesimpson.com you will find a free downloads button at the top. Cheers!

Very well done. Great cover lesson. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for that - glad you enjoyed!
Shane
Great tutorial. I'm struggling with timing of chord section. Could this part actually be 4 beats instead of 6? It seems more like 3 strums Em, 1 D/F#, 2G,2A, 3Bm, 1C, 2G, 2A
Hiya! Break it up into a group of 4 then a group of 2 - should do the trick
Shane
Listen listen listen and you will work it out, tricky but worth doing.
Start 2:20 Danke !
All the greats seemed to have one thing in common. They never saw practice as a chore. Just another chance to play, which they welcomed. I see practice as a chore. Finally got COMPLETELY burned out on anything to do with it. edit just a tip for the zero talents like myself. If you see practice as a chore, trust me, the spite only gets worse, not better. My only regret is all the endless hours i WASTED ON IT ! There is a basic minimum required. You either have that or you don't.
Thank you John - I always loved to practice. Cheers, Shane
