    Man, thanks for all your videos. I learned to play like 17-18 years ago, long before youtube and now we have a tornado table at my office. I was a little rusty, but have loved playing. I then thought "let me check youtube for some skills" and holy crap - your stuff is great.
    Thanks again.

    I wonder how long it will take to finally get back to where we were on Tournament Soccer Brown Top Tables. Front pin, back pin, banks, pull, push, and passes were all available at all times effectively. Goalies were so much more well rounded and deadly. The game was so much better then. Now people are looking at banks like some new invention. They will be properly shot from a back pin to add all other possibilities and become deadly.... Eventually.

    @HUNrobar Yea, it's more of an American style, mainly influenced by Tornado. But typically the style of table that doesn't have ramps, have the 3 man goalie rod. There are American tables that have 1 man goalie (Warrior table for example).

    @Kayko2000 When you crank it with your wrist you are using the little muscles, when you roll it over your palm, the big muscles are doing the work. Double banks are a hoot too - I'd love to see a video of double banks.... It would also be cool to do it in slow-mo! It's been about 32 years since I played regularly, but it's fun watching this to remember the sound! Also, we used "Pledge" furniture polish as a lubricant for the rods, and it was really fast.

    @Jinkinzzz Shooting it open handed gives you a much quicker downward motion which gives you more power. This is the only time I do open handed shots. For any other shot out of the goalie area I use a closed hand grip. But open handed shots take a lot practice because of the control issue.

    man, im new to foos but this is awesome

  • @zekefooser
    @zekefooser  12 років тому

    @questforpabulum It is similar. Mainly it's an open hand movement where the palm of the hand rolls the handle.

  • @zekefooser
    @zekefooser  15 років тому

    You can hit banks with a closed hand grip but you wont get the same power. It's also harder to hit closed hand banks when the ball is moving.

    @woo2fly18 Just keep practicing. Those same powerful straight shots, will be powerful banks if hit at the right angle.

    @himalay7 Whoever said that has something against banks. Anyway, banks are legal and they not considered dirty not unethical. They are a fun shot to perform.

    I often wonder if a closed handed bank series were perfected, if it might be more efficient than a fan bank. Pretty much everyone does the shot open handed, so everyone else follows suit. I'd like to see someone do more close handed banks.

    It's not as easy to bank on a Tornado table as it is in other tables. The shape of the man do not make it ideal for banking, and also the white playfield trim that runs along the sides of the table field make the ball lift and bounce out of the table. But the newer tornado table (T-3000) has a thinner playfield trim that doesnt cause the ball to go flying off.

    Wow, great vid. I've never been able to do the bank, and I think it's because I'm shooting it in a closed grip. Does it always have to be an open hand to get the most out of it?

  • @Jinkinzzz
    @Jinkinzzz 13 років тому

    First, great lessons...thanks for posting. A question - why should you shot this shot open-hand? Does the technique give some characteristics to the shot? I lose a lot of control when I go open-hand. Thanks again!

    @zekefooser i haven't either seen a 3 man back rod. Maybe cuase im dutch? ah well. I usually play as a goalie and i really need to get some points going.
    did you ever had that when you shot the baal the ball comes back in play? we have that a lot. We even have a whole list of those kind of balls. the #1 has 125 lol.

  • @zekefooser
    @zekefooser  12 років тому +1

    Given that bank shots are hard to master, it is far from a noob shot. Bank and 5 bar shots are advanced shots, and I'm talking about being able to execute them successfully not just to attempt them. Of course you have no 5 bar passing series and you start whacking the ball then no skill there, but hitting a successful left hook when the opponent is not expecting it takes skill. Banks are hard to do consistently on Tornado so not a noob shot.

    I live in Europe, the table soccers are different here. Is this an american type foosball, or just the Tornado tables have this structure?

  • @christopherbuckner3644

    just getting back into foosball after 25 years, I used to bank ok, but now half the time when hit the ball on the angle it will go almost straight with only a 10 to 20 angle at best. How do I get back to putting that 45 degree angle to cause to bank off the wall like that ?

  • @Stellarffxi
    @Stellarffxi 9 років тому

    5 bar shots take a ton of skill. I've been playing over 10 years and still haven't developed the 5 bar shot I'd like to have. New players need to get over the notion that 5 bar shots are cheap or unfair and learn how to block the slow and simple ones.

  • @wolterh6
    @wolterh6 12 років тому

    I think being too far on either direction will only affect the angle of the ball's travel. Is the ball lifting as an effect of your "kick"?

    yeah you make a valid point if with the 5 row used as you sai, but it takes more skill to master shots like the ones you show in two bar pull tutorial. banking and 5 row shots are both efficient shots no doubt about that i just dont like em :P, im about to buy a tornado for my home, and try and get as good as you XD

  • @sabotaged4619

    question: when I try this, the ball just ends up hopping somewhere down the table and hits one of the men (even though they're all raised). what am I doing wrong? this is on a tornado table with tornado ball.

  • @HUNrobar
    @HUNrobar 14 років тому

  • @rileylaforge7640

    What read on the defense would lead you to want to attempt this shot rather than a pull series or a pull/push kick at the 2bar?

    • @zekefooser
      @zekefooser  9 років тому

      Riley LaForge If i'm not scoring using my pull or push then i'll take a look at the bank. Sometimes players have no clue how to block a bank so it can be easy to score if you execute the bank shot correctly. Most commonly I will do quick banks after picking up a lose ball in the goalie area. Pretty much like i did in this match ua-cam.com/video/JO3I_TBSkzU/v-deo.htmlm15s

    Half the time when I am practicing this shot the ball flies into the air and ricochets off of one of the rods, what gives?

    • @zekefooser
      @zekefooser  10 років тому +2

      Try having the ball be slightly further back so that it's behind the rod. if the ball is too forward the upwards motion of the man will cause the ball to go up.
