Interesting... yeah I heard about that rebranding effort, but I can't help wondering how they came up with the name Cronos (not a bad name I have to say) but used the JLC logo!? ;)
The Exciton is a dreadful name, and they have made it to small. They will easily sell the non profit making initial run, but there after will be a problem.
Where is the link to Exciton? That’s a completely different watch. The exciton is costing $200 to make because we are only producing 100. The unit cost if you do a production run of 300-500 drops significantly, so it will be possible to sell each watch still for $200 and make close to $100 profit per watch. That is one of the reason Pagani Design can afford to sell their watches so cheap, they sometimes make 1000 in a run dropping the production costs dramatically.
@@oldmantime5541 Gary, I was replying to another reply who made comment to the Exciton. I genuinely wish you luck with the project, and suspect it will be a great watch. I still think it is to small, and still think the name is dreadful, but I have been wrong on more than one occasion. Despite the name, I would seriously consider a 40mm version at the $200 asking price.

Oh yeah, Ivan. Regarding the clicks. After watching the video, I immediately took mine off my wrist and started twisting the bezel. What I felt was this, there were 120 locations around the bezel, but there was a slight double click for each single position. Very unusual, but it gives a *very* satisfying ratcheting sound when you twist it.
It has past 5 months since this review. How is it working today? Is it worth? I'm thinking of buying one with this same logo, the new one does not appeal to me at all. Thank you.
Very nice video. I have a Cronos Sea Dweller homage that is rated to 2000 meters that I just love and it was a fraction of the price of the Rolex. I'm going to have to check out this Cronos homage to the Omega.
The Hydraulic Press channel pressure tested one of the Cronos Sea Dweller homage watches to approximately 3000 meters before the movement stopped. When they removed it from the tank the watch started working again. I was so impressed I had to own one.
@Perth WAtch The lugs on the San Martin are brushed, as well as the bracelet being fully brushed too. Other than that, they're pretty much the same I think.
Thank you for the update usual great and thorough review. I really like this watch...a good Bond-style NATO would do wonders for it, but also a tropical leather strap would set it apart. The look is a bit retro, which is nice. A signed crown would be nice, but certainly not essential. And the Seiko movement may be old hat by now, but it's solid and reliable, certainly nothing to complain about there. Looking forward to more of your vids!
Very well worded and presented review, for that amount of money one gets more than they paid for. The luminocity is fine the only drawback is the engraved ceramic bezel. Since the luminocity isn't covered by the ceramic and it's exposed, I believe will wear out easily. The bracelet clasp seems better than a 1k / mid range Seiko, that being said, I'm just wondering why Seiko releases 900 to 1500 $ watches with those clasps. A deal breaker given those are multiple times more expensive than this one. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for that! Oh yeah Seiko is certainly notorious for delivering substandard bracelets at high price points. Why do they do that? Well I’m sure one reason is keeping costs low and margins high! As long as they can get away with it, why wouldn’t they!?
@@PerthWAtch I couldn't have said it better myself, spot on ! Despite the fact that I mostly buy high end timepieces, I wouldn't hesitate buying a budget, homage or low end watch. As long as what I see suits my criteria, will not exclude anything. Seiko is a solid brand however their policy is what you said. I'd love to buy one of those new editions of the vintage divers, I think they are the SPB line BUT the cheap bracelets and clasps stitched my pockets and can't seem to be able to grab money to buy one. As you said, as long as they can get away with it.....I do hope they can read some of the comments and think better. I'm sure you know some of the micro brands like Helson/Zelos etc, watches at the 400-700 bucks range and what amazing quality bracelets/clasps they offer, of course with ceramic bezel inserts. How come micro brands vs colossal manufactures win...
I really like it, i think my tastes sway more towards the retro divers it seems, nh35 ghost hmm not that keen would probably pay a bit more for no date miyota hi-beat but can't really complain at the bang for buck, solid review as always👍
I love Cronos! Love the new signed crown on their Sub Homage. Their Bronze diver is one of the most stunning watches I own and has the best lume I've found. This one looks super sharp too. This may be my new favorite watch company. At least they are close. Still absolutely Love Grand Seiko, but these are even starting to beat Seiko for me because of their quality and value for money.
The difference between this watch and the "real" seemaster/ submariner/ superocean is that no one respects homage type of watches. Even homage's owner doesn't respect own watch simply because fake glory doesn't last. The good ones are indeed jewelery which with time turn to classic.
Thanks for sharing your opinion MY Yord - why did you delete your earlier comment? Lugyou Cronos rocks - they are real and real awesome! I Lugyou - do you Lugme too? ;)
It's a nice looking watch for sure. My favorite features of the Spectre however, are the handset along with those pointed indices.. I don't see a Spectre when I look at this watch and the bezel is more Fifty Fathoms.
“Missed the mark”? I think you’re assuming they were going for a full copy... more likely the changes are intentional, after all, an homage shouldn’t be a 100% copy. Ironically these differences don’t prevent some commentators claiming that this is a replica - go figure!
@@PerthWAtch Yes, if they had gone one to one on the details they would have been slammed for ripping off Omega for sure. As a standalone watch taking cues from a couple of different vintage designs, they came up with a really nice looking piece with great specs at that price. Same concept as Dan Henry, Straton and several other micros. Vintage inspired. Not a bad thing at all.
Somebody else has already told you about the Cronos name, so I won't bother. I own a Debert version, which cost me about $70 (U.S). One of the most amazing value for money watches I own. Sapphire, lovely sandwich dial, and a Miyota movement that hacks. The nato isn't great, and the lume is rubbish, but I love it. The watch you have reviewed looks excellent, but it's one of those watches that needs to be on a nato. . Good review, thanks
Thanks Simon - yeah I’m inclined to agree that it does best on a NATO... too bad they did give a good one, even a good two piece “NATO style” I would’ve tried it on.
Owner Update - I've had this watch for 8 months now. It has become an favorite and probably gets the most wrist time of all my watches. I wear 2 at a time, but this one stays in my left wrist and I swap the rest in the right. It fits my wrist really well - nice lug-to-lug and curvature. I was wearing it today while I was shooting some photos and looked down at it and just fell in love with those hands and the sandwich dial again. I have it in a rubber Strap Code rallye strap and it looks ballsy. I also noticed that the old school "Conan the Barbarian" type face doesn't really show as a word, but more as a glyph. I just wish that it had the signed crown. It has a very light bezel touch which is perfect - I was using it to time my lacrosse half running time - and it allowed me to adjust it without taking it off my wrist. I think more people should test the bezels on the wrist since I use it more that way than setting it off wrist. I think it would make lighter touch bezels more desirable.
That's awesome man, thanks for sharing your owner experience! Great description about the brand showing like a glyph :) Curious to hear about your comment regarding the bezel feel - pretty every single dive watch I have I can adjust on the wrist without having to take the watch off. You must have some watches with rather stiff bezels!
@@PerthWAtch more an observation that every person reviews the clicks in hand and not in wrist and that's not how I use them. Although I do have a CW limited edition Prince of Wales that has a stiff bezel that's just starting to loosen up. In lacrosse, we say, "Practice like you play!" I feel like if you're going to review a watch, you might as well "review it like you use it." 95% of the time I'm using it on a moving wrist at (literally) arm's length, the watch details that we obsess over in macro shots melt away and what matters is comfort and utility and durability, although general looks aren't lost either. And this is from a guy with over a dozen watches ranging from a Speedy to this AliExpress Cronos. Pip-pip Ivan!
Thanks for the thoughts - you make a good point about reviewing it like we use it. That is in fact what I do - except in very exceptional circumstances (eg. Company rushing a deadline) I insist on using watches at least a full week before I review it. Comments on comfort, practical issues, and utility are included in my reviews. Durability cannot really he commented on in the short term IMO. As for actually reviewing “on the wrist”... well I’m definitely not gonna shoot a review holding the watch 18-24 inches away from the camera (which is how far it is away from my eyes when I typically look at my watch)! Pretty sure no other reviewer is about to do that either...
You can talk about the Seamaster 300, but with the exception of the 4 Arabic numbers & different hands, I see a stronger resemblance to the CWTrident Pro 600.
I know it's an obvious homage to the Omega Seamaster, but why is it called "Seamaster 300"" when the water resistance is rated at 200m?? I was expecting a 300m rating...🤔 Other than that, cool looking watch! Great review as always! 👍
Ivan, I received my Cronos Bond yesterday (for my birthday), I agree on all counts. This watch punches way above its weight. The case is solid and beautifully brushed. The bracelet is nice, although I prefer screw links (I have a tendency to drop the collars on the carpet). I showed it to my daughter (who knows nothing about watches or Bond) and she remarked, "Ooooh pretty! I really like that one." No real downsides at this price, although a signed crown and clasp would just make it perfect. If it said Swiss Made on it, but was otherwise the same, I bet this would be selling for twice as much.
Don't know about that 240-click deal. I just gave my new Zelos Swordfish 40 the safe cracker's touch and could also count out 240. Normal finger torque yields 120 well-defined clicks.
yes thats what i noticed. looks like a san martin case. i love my san martin pilots watch. insane lume!!!! and its also rated for 200 meters. not bad for the money
lume I can forgive, but crown should be signed. it won't cost them that much anyway... but I have a feeling that they wanted to save some tooling cost...
Cronos has said that they will be doing signed crowns in the future (they have already shown one on the I Like Watches 2 - ILW2 youtube channel) - but I wouldn't expect them to modify existing stock.
All divers leave me a bit cold since getting my Orient M-Force [perfect tool diver imo] but love the no date diver look and this is a winner .Nice find .
another video i have seen of this showed absolutely top notch lume while being compared to the best lume. i'm not saying your observation is wrong, i'm curious if what's shipping from cronos is not consistent lume wise
No one should be surprised that the product may have inconsistency I reckon. “Best lume”? I would caution against believing when someone claims something is “best” - almost always this proves to be untrue. How do you know it wasn’t compared against something that was simply mediocre?
Seiko movt ? Would prefer st2130 why not have a fake eta on a fake omega? A real 4r36 in a real seiko samurai or monster or turtle on the 'omage demon got them copied too
It looks pretty decent. Dislike Cronos branding but I may or may not be a huge San Martin fanboy and anything coming from that factory I don't doubt is fantastic. I'll wait for the if and when of a SM variant of this.. so few no-dates on offer from them this would be a nice direction. Thanks for your videos! and an off topic note, how are the chickens? :D
Thanks for that - I think the is a SM version of this actually, a few have said so. Chickens, haha the egg production dropped off after about 15 months so we handed them over to a family who keep a half dozen on their larger property (didn’t want to see them get eaten!). Cheers mate!

I like the look ,wish it had a better movement and better loom not crazy about the little thing above the name , put a better movement and better loom charge $300
12.5mm, nh35 and all the trimmings I can build one for less than $150 (I think) they should build a batch and list or market limited numbers at $149 or do a good lume and try at $159 or maybe $169 with proof of water testing. As long as it has steel bracelet and NATO strap or just steel. I own one like this at about 90% but not with nh35. Mine is something else. A Miyota no id. I'd rather have the nh35 movement. This looks like a dress watch to me. VERY NICE !
You could perhaps build one for that price but that doesn't account for your labor value, which even if you paid yourself a pittance would put it well above $200 wouldn't it? And these guys need to make a profit...
@@PerthWAtch OK Mr Spock, go ahead and look at this logically. Sometimes I hate it when you are right. However, One other guy was saying This watch, small batch say 35 or 50, cost leaving $100 profit. AR is always nice, especially with dark colour faces like black or cobalt. Anything else.? I am thinking that would be a $200 or $239 I think you might do a survey of your watches with a list of features and maybe a budget version, a fancy Swiss version is OK as long as we have a "Working mans" version, nh34a, nh3a That better Seiko movement, 7 something. Real guarantee would be great - thus far Chinese companies (even the more well known ones like Phoibos) fall down in this aspect. PS. Invicta *do* ask for more than $300 for their Pro Diver, but people generally refuse to pay that ;)
Certainly good purchase for the price. You seem to get a lot but the whole affordable dive watch seems to be saturated at the moment and can't say this one rises up and stands out amongst them. But very nice watch at good price I'm sure anyone who does buy wont be disappointed 👍
At $200 I would say that there is very little that stands up to this in specs and fit... it feels like a much more expensive watch, on par with Seiko at the $500 range.
@@PerthWAtch you are right but specs have never madeth the watch. There's always other things to consider. Yes if you are looking for that particular homage at a very good price it's a no brainer
@@PerthWAtch Not yet but I will, the problem might be that; when it is outside the EU I probably will have to pay import tax on the item. However, I will have a look. Many thanks fella. Nice review as per normal by the way ;)
According to Cronos: Fully automatic mechanical watches, relying on the motion of the arm and automatic winding, so must wear more than 8 hours a day to ensure timely and accurate. Part of the automatic mechanical watch on a chain can also manually on the chain to supplement energy, method is under the conditions of buttons don't pull out, 15 circle clockwise. Is not automatic chain on the manual and automatic mechanical watch, cannot make up by manual chain on energy. So all sorted!
My buddy is into san martin, he's got like 5 or 6 of em, and all I can think is the watch he could have bought with all that money. There's more to a watch than specs and a seiko movement. I feel the same about this watch, whatever it's called.
Oh yes, you're absolutely right in that there is more to a watch than that... I do feel San Martin offers something pretty good, but of course you have to like the design to lay out for it. With being able to get 5 for under $1k, that's still a good deal for the money I reckon.
@@PerthWAtch yeah, their getting more common I guess, I usually always have my enthusiast keyboard stuff delivered in that style of box, but I see it more and more outside of that market too now, as with watches and other goods in that approximate size
When a movement has a date wheel but the dial has no date shown, the crown position to change the date still exists but with no date window nothing happens on the dial, hence ghost position.
Yep, exactly... you pull the crown out to the first click to set the date, but when it’s not shown on the dial it effectively does nothing. Like a ghost, floating through the world ;)
it was changed from Retro Ross (you can still see some pics with that old name on their listing). Either way these are principally made as replicas/fakes with OMEGA logos and then some additional are produced with various Chinese logos to help obscure the purpose of the factory. Great watch but it's not an homage - it's a replica watch.
I thought it was changed from Lugyou. Either way these are 100% real, not fake. It’s not the same as the watch it homages - that’s what an “homage” is, this definitely ain’t replica ;)
@@PerthWAtch so to be clear, this same watch, produced on the same line also come with an Omega variant (that's what I observed when I visited), on one side that tried the RR brand and as another persona mentioned there was a suggestion to change - Cronos is actually a good name but they chose a terrible font, on the other side, these same watches (with minor variants, are branded Omega and sold on Dhgate and various markets.
I absolutely get what you mean. So to be clear, this watch has *substantial* differences to the watch it homages, so much so that they are evident even just using online photos, let alone how much more noticeable the difference would be when in hand - that’s what “homage” is. Now, if it is indeed also sold with Omega on the dial in place of Cronos, it wouldn’t be a replica, but rather a poor attempt to copy.
Perth The same town that got blown up in a B Movie I seen on Amazon. About a bunch of people trying to party their delves to death before the bomb drops.
I also have the same watch branded San Martin. While watching this video I was like "this is the same watch!" The reason for the bent spring bars is because they didnt leave enough space between the case and the bars to get a nato strap in there. The San Martin has a tiger shark (or more accurate there interpretation of a tiger shark) on the back. Mine has a blue dial. I think I paid 80 usd for it on Amazon. SN001 model number San Martin Tiger Shark
Thanks for sharing that - yes that is correct about those spring bars but in actuality this is so much an homage of the Seamaster 300 they even had to copy that bit - the Omega also requires curved bars!
I did not know that, thank you for the information I will have to pick up some spring bar. So glad for your channel lots of information, good camera work and fun to watch! :)
A loose homage of a pre-Spectre SM 300. The Spectre has a dual-time bezel, and lollipop seconds hand. Love the bracelet. Can't get it on the Debert Spectre. Phylida makes a noteworthy No Time to Die SM300 for $110. But it has the same ugly bracelet as the Brosnan SM300
hi Ivan. what' up, Mate? ha ha. just because the plastic box is the same, that does not mean it is coming from the same factory as San Martin. As you know, I have worked with few Chinese factories for 20 years. so, no factory produces everything by themselves, specially boxes, manuals...etc. So, more likely, the box factory might be supplying to few different watch factories. LUGYOU??????? I guess this is the company name? English phonetic writing to Chinese characters? Chronos. brand name is not so bad. However, They desperately need a consultant, preferably from Perth or Long Beach, CA. Also Blatant copy of Jaeger le-coultre logo. the only thing they did differently is the bottom ends curling up, rather than down like JL. Come-on!!!!!! Okay. all the negatives done! Actually the watch is pretty good, not as refined as San Martin, but nicely made. Love the dial (specially recessed indices and lume) & bezel isn't so bad either, however, 240 clicks might came by mistake. I have never seen any watch bezel with 240 clicks! (Ivan, can you confirm this with the factory and let us know?). the brushing & polishing aren't the best, but it is quite acceptable for $200 watch. But if I have a choice, I rather buy San Martin because it just seems like SM has better finishing on the case, dial, bracelet...etc at similar pricing. Nonetheless, pretty good looking watch. Thanks Ivan for an interesting piece. good day.
Yeah I agree, Cronos much better and actually was a result of a viewer poll from another channel. Overall I think this goes toe to toe with SM, very very close. And you’re right, same box doesn’t mean same factory made the watch but in this case it does indeed come from the same factory. Cheers mate!

@@PerthWAtch No i did notice, but it probably wasn't an OMEGA Nato. I also got the point that the watch is probably a decent enough watch but masquerading as an Omega, so why copy so closely, make something original.

He has omega oo7?
Good looking watch and great review - Thank you 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it :)
The Omega is one of my grails, so I do like the style of this, tho I'm a bit on the fence about homages. Cheers mate 👍🏻
Thanks for the thoughts man 👍
@P M B sweet 👍🏻
@P M B aw, that's frustrating for you! Hope you get it sorted soon mate. Thanks for your comment 👍🏻
These companies actually do honor their warranties. I've had Heimdallr honor warranty work for me as well as San Martin.
Good that it worked for you - others have reported very different experiences however.
Yeah, it’s a 2 year warranty.
Good looking watch. I have one San Martin “Turtle” homage which I thoroughly enjoy. Thank you
Thanks - glad you enjoyed this :)
The San Martin looks great - any major differences - is it going well?
I really like it, i think my tastes sway more towards the retro divers it seems, nh35 ghost hmm not that keen would probably pay a bit more for no date miyota hi-beat but can't really complain at the bang for buck, solid review as always👍
Thanks for that man!
Interesting thoughts there - thanks for sharing!
I Lugyou - do you Lugme too? ;)
I saw someone got the writing the wrong way, it happens.
It's a nice looking watch for sure. My favorite features of the Spectre however, are the handset along with those pointed indices.. I don't see a Spectre when I look at this watch and the bezel is more Fifty Fathoms.
Yep that’s correct.
Yeah handset and bezel are wrong ,they kinda missed the mark. Nice looking watch though.
Great description about the brand showing like a glyph :)
Curious to hear about your comment regarding the bezel feel - pretty every single dive watch I have I can adjust on the wrist without having to take the watch off.
For a few days, the price has dropped down to $174.20 (on the app, which often differs from the price on the website, beware!).
So, why hesitate? :-)
Yeah man, go go go for it!!! :)
You can talk about the Seamaster 300, but with the exception of the 4 Arabic numbers & different hands, I see a stronger resemblance to the CWTrident Pro 600.
Interesting observation
pretty nice watch for the money. How can Swiss Made still demand skyhigh prices?
They would say it’s for the sky high quality ;)
No website . Not available on Aliexpress , DHGate , or eBay.
Yes it is available - check link we conveniently provided for your use :)
I know it's an obvious homage to the Omega Seamaster, but why is it called "Seamaster 300"" when the water resistance is rated at 200m??
I was expecting a 300m rating...🤔
Other than that, cool looking watch!
Great review as always! 👍
Actually they call it the "Sea Master"... I added the 300 as that's the watch it copies :)
@@PerthWAtch oh, ok!
Makes sense then 😅
Ivan, I received my Cronos Bond yesterday (for my birthday), I agree on all counts.
I really like that one."
No real downsides at this price, although a signed crown and clasp would just make it perfect.
If it said Swiss Made on it, but was otherwise the same, I bet this would be selling for twice as much.
Nice one - thanks for sharing that, I’m glad you’re having a great experience with it!
Nice presentation!
Thanks mate!
On average how long do you think the Chinese clone movements last?
I wouldn't know as I have never been able to confirm whether these are clones, nor have I ran any until they stopped working
Don't know about that 240-click deal. I just gave my new Zelos Swordfish 40 the safe cracker's touch and could also count out 240. Normal finger torque yields 120 well-defined clicks.
Interesting... well it’s the first time I’ve ever noted 240 clicks on a bezel.
yes thats what i noticed. looks like a san martin case. i love my san martin pilots watch. insane lume!!!! and its also rated for 200 meters. not bad for the money
Haha thanks - you never know when your plane might end up in water I guess! :)
Good review.
Thanks :)
Good looking piece. Shame about the unsigned crown and the relatively weak lume.
lume I can forgive, but crown should be signed. it won't cost them that much anyway... but I have a feeling that they wanted to save some tooling cost...
Cronos has said that they will be doing signed crowns in the future (they have already shown one on the I Like Watches 2 - ILW2 youtube channel) - but I wouldn't expect them to modify existing stock.

Good looking watch such a shame it’s not got a date complication and the Seiko NH35 is so over used now.
I don't mind the no-date clean look... wishes it used the NH38 but reality is that the NH35 is made is far larger quantity so much easier to get.
Not a fan of the font of the logo, but Cronos is a great name for a watch brand.
I guess it is... good SEO tactic and all that

another video i have seen of this showed absolutely top notch lume while being compared to the best lume. i'm not saying your observation is wrong, i'm curious if what's shipping from cronos is not consistent lume wise
No one should be surprised that the product may have inconsistency I reckon. “Best lume”? I would caution against believing when someone claims something is “best” - almost always this proves to be untrue. How do you know it wasn’t compared against something that was simply mediocre?
@@PerthWAtch it's obvious.
Good to know mate 👍
A 10mm thickness with Miyota 9000 or PT5000 would be highly desirable.

Ah nice!
I think you need to do do a showdown between this and the St. Martin is it? If possible.
I think I just might!

I get what you mean junior
Invicta is a known brand I think they have earned the right to ask $200 but an unknown wanting this 200% markup, I'm not sure about. Maybe I am being unreasonable. ? Yea, I may be working n my AH attitude. I am only saying, Test for 100 or 200M and guarantee it (They don't back up water damage anyway from what I hear.) is decent lume THAT expensive? so, Water proof to 200M, decent to good lume, Id be happy with the nh35a movement.

Oops, and case SIZE We have some small wrist-ed fellows that need what, 38mm,? I prefer 40mm minimum to 48mm
Real guarantee would be great - thus far Chinese companies (even the more well known ones like Phoibos) fall down in this aspect.
PS. Invicta *do* ask for more than $300 for their Pro Diver, but people generally refuse to pay that ;)
Great video
Thanks for the visit

That is extreme clear and accurate instruction so ensure that all peoples will know best to operate this automatic mechanical!

ha ha ha. yes, I also mentioned that one!!!!
Yeah I agree!
Definitely a no based on the case spinnability. I require at least two effortless, complete spins.
Yes, someone talking sense at last! I fully agree.
CHRONOS, the name came from the channel, I Like Watches who does reviews with Lug You.

Oh I didn't see that!
What do mean when you say ghost position? Sorry..
When a movement has a date wheel but the dial has no date shown, the crown position to change the date still exists but with no date window nothing happens on the dial, hence ghost position.

Nice watch... seems to remind me of like an Omega or something...
Yep that’s what I said ;)
it was changed from Retro Ross (you can still see some pics with that old name on their listing).

Have you had bad experiences with some?
hi Ivan. what' up, Mate? ha ha. just because the plastic box is the same, that does not mean it is coming from the same factory as San Martin.
@@PerthWAtch No i did notice, but it probably wasn't an OMEGA Nato. I also got the point that the watch is probably a decent enough watch but masquerading as an Omega, so why copy so closely, make something original.
