Fantastic! It's really nice to hear about how much struggle you had in the first week, and that you were able to grow past it. That'll help me be prepared and able to remind myself that the overwhelmed feeling is temporary!

Teaching is harder than it looks, but so rewarding once you get the hang of it!

this is INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you so much. I’ve been searching the interweb for some solid/honest advice about becoming an EFL teacher in Thailand.

I've taught in Thailand. Went there while enrolling in CIEE's Teach English in Thailand. What have you heard about them? Any idea how Greenheart or XplorAsia compare to C.I.E.E? Thanks.

The clothing tip is super helpful! I packed "shorts suits" & summer fabrics but it seems I need more skirts.

I agree with the first woman (middle). The TEFL/TESOL programs that are only 1-2 months long don't teach you enough (program too short). The shorter programs don't teach what teachers need to know - 1)How to teach and 2) curriculum - not every school will provide a guideline of what you need to teach your students.

Most schools don't want teachers older than 55 (official retirement age) but not impossible to find a job if you're older than that.
