Great content. Even if you can't produce as much as your have been, or if you can't produce the same type of content, I'd love to see this insider perspective, even if it's irregular.
Are a lot of your classmates married? The reason I ask is that I would like to understand the dynamics of the Wharton MBA social life for those students who are married, given that I am married and plan to pursue an MBA in the future. Do these students' partners usually relocate with them whenever they start their MBA programs? Do the partners come to some of the social events organized for the students? I would really appreciate it if you could provide some insight on this topic. Thank you very much!
yo ben. I have a couple pointers following up on your video: 1) well obviously you said you're going into your MBA mostly for the MBA content creation, social scene, and to expand rareliquid as a business as your post-MBA plans. Importantly, you will not be recruiting at all. Your time breakdown reflects this, with more than 50% of your MBA time spent on socials and rareliquid. That's an insane amount of time. I wanted to ask you: most of your viewers are probably looking to do an MBA for diff reasons than yours - for example to recruit, or for the classwork. How do you think u can create helpful content for those of us who are looking to spend most of their MBA time on recruiting and finance-focused classes? 2) leading into my 2nd point, you spend > 50% of your time on socials and rareliquid. What's the time breakdown looking like for others who have diff goals than you? For example those focusing on recruiting. Maybe a survey of your classmates' time breakdown as a future video? Thanks, keep it up Ben
hey~ thanks for the questions - very thoughtful! 1. Regarding the socializing, believe it or not, I'm probably around average if not less than average because of rareliquid. As I said in the video, I say no to a lot of social events each week so I can work. Regarding creating helpful content, I have many ideas including interviewing my classmates who come from a wide range of industries and top firms. For recruiting, I admit that's a spot I wouldn't be able to shine light on firsthand, but I do learn a lot about the processes from my classmates. Lastly regarding classes, I'm actually majoring in finance so mostly will be taking finance classes. Plus will be making some videos about the academics. 2. They probably spend the amount of time I spend on rareliquid on recruiting instead. But recruiting is usually a 3-4 month stretch for the summer internship. The rest of the MBA experience revolves around social activities. Hope this helps!
@@rareliquid yep, thanks man! I hope u can make some videos on interviewing your classmates who are spending the MBA on recruiting. I'm pretty curious on the difference between MBA recruiting and undergrad recruiting, if there is any. I'm also rlly curious into the MBA side of academic finance, hope u can shed some light on that as well! Peace
I love your videos man! I am currently applying to Spring Weeks and I used the same template as your CV. Thank you so much for your useful content. If I get into investment banking, I'll invite you to dinner hahaha...
Good/fun video & takeaways. Very surprised at your studying time vs class - usually 1:1 or 2:1 ratio even for smart kids. Plus surprised not more group work on assignments - that can easily take 5-10 hours/week.
With all the socializing, the program can't be that intense. Where I believe that the classes are probably easy for you, I have to also assume that there is nothing there that can't be learned online for free. The college and university pedagogue is expensive, unnecessary, and archaic. It is headed for a massive change. Your videos are free, concise, informative, and there is no tuition bill. Take the money you are spending on Wharton and put it to better use with another start up or invest more into rareliquid. If I am wrong, I can take it, let me know.
program is intense when thinking of the time you need to spend on everything but i agree the classes themselves are not intense (will make video about classes later but tldr is they are graded easily so you don't have to worry about grades and instead focus on what you want to learn / recruiting / networking / etc). re the tuition, i'll make a video later about my plan to getting a positive ROI from the business ideas i could only execute on from being in school. thx for the comment though! i get where you're coming from
@@pb.j.1753 The networking you get at B School is not worth the cost. I can get the same network at an expensive golf club and have a much better time. Plus, if you need a school to network, your development skills are lacking and you may want to think about a coding career.
great to see you again ben-izzy. just curious to know two things - from all the mates you met, have they mentioned what they'll do after completing their mba? and second, are the courses difficult? is there an exam week like undergrad?
yup we talk about post mba life quite often haha many are going into banking or consulting but there's a lot of variety as well (entrepreneurship, buy-side, tech, etc) course content can be challenging but the way classes are graded make the academic part of mba not too bad. not many exams but usually there are assignments here and there. will be making a video focused on academics so stay tuned!
@@rareliquid srsly tho, what's a former banker/ PE/ MBB consultant/ HF gonna exit to after MBA? Like they've already worked one of the best careers, what are they trying to do in future?
Whoa, that's an insane social side. I'm really curious: do you think the MBA will have a significant impact on what rareliquid is? The channel/business has evolved and touched upon different strands (stocks, crypto, business, financial, etc) since its inception, so do you see its identity being shaped differently going forward? Also, you said you were going to do the 2 years when you were thinking about only doing 1, but if you get what you need from the first year, will you continue onto year two? You mentioned your *English* name was Ben in another video, and I was like, The way he said it sounds like he has a Korean name....and you do! Still unsure how you balance everything, but it's great to see the updates!
great questions as always! i actually recently decided a few days ago to focus mainly on career content because (1) it's what i enjoy making most and (2) it's what the UA-cam analytics says i'm best at haha. so may make some investing content moving forward but am in the process of shifting most of my focus to career stuff so i made the tough decision to discontinue the rareliquid careers channel even though a lot of effort was put into it. am thinking of converting that into a shorts channel and planning to do 2 years and finishing off the mba! am enjoying my experience so far
haha i'm making an apartment tour video and so in case ppl wanted to buy the products i have i'm adding them. but i only got to adding a few of them. need to update the site haha
Sadly, to me this devalues these type of MBA programs. Personally, it's more impressive when someone works 50+ hrs a week, commutes, takes care of their family (spouse, kids, etc.) and completes a MBA from a smaller, lesser know program.
