Hello, I am a mechanical lathe operator, and watching your video "Magnet Motor" I noticed that the wheels with the magnets of the same tree, are not out of phase. You should try to move each wheel of about 120 ° to obtain a perpetual motion.

Francy4841 Yes I agree with you - try and create a 'spiral' effect to get rid of the 'cogging' when the magnets are directly opposed to each other.

It wont work this way. You gotta put magnetsout of phase around. I made one and it s working. Not this form you used

  •  10 років тому +10

Just my 2c here but I'd say you may have to stagger them.
It seems to me, the setup you have in this video is the equivalent of a petrol engine in its power-stroke on all cylinders at once. In your case, if this were a petrol engine it would be a 3cyl.
I think if you offset each of the pucks just right, in a spiral fashion, instead of rocking-n-locking as it seems to be doing, the next puck may be staggered enough so the next set of magnets 'fire off' or grab thus making it rotate then continue onto the 3rd puck. Then the next problem will likely show its mug; finding out how to make it repetitive (i.e; how many pucks are needed to achieve this).
I, just like you, don't like being told 'it can't be done' and I haven't gotten my hands at least a little dirty with it. I've tried a few tricks of my own back in school involving car alternators and starter motors.

What is it with all the backseat drivers in the comments who speak as if they have the magical solution to get this device working? It won't work. It doesn't matter how you change it. Here's some advice, if you want it to spin longer then remove the magnets.

No, it will not work, as simple as that! The magnets in this type of contraption work as flywheels prolonging the time it takes the thing to stop rotating, but it never adds any energy to it. Try getting any useful power from it, it will never happen, on the output you only get the same energy you employed to start it minus lost energy through friction, etc. Basic physics.
If you believe in this then you have to go back to school, no discussion needed.

The metal will absorb the magnetism and thus create a lot of friction due to more magnetic attraction, interfering with the rotation.

Greetings. I have been fascinated by these for a long time. Without knowing the polarity or placement of your magnets, I would like to comment assuming they are all the same and oriented the same. With the 3 wheel configuration you have, you have the potential for 3 different zones that will work together. However, in my own mind, they must not be so symmetrically balanced as you have it assembled. There is no motivation for continued motion since each magnet interface consists of an entry attraction and an exit resistance that may be your demon. 2 thoughts. First, maybe the addition of a flywheel to give the momentum to overcome the exit resistance, or use each wheel slightly out of time with the other 2 to act as the pull force, when separation of another wheel is occuring. Stagger you magnets. Possibly remove 2 and leave one in sequence in each wheel and offset the wheel rotationally. I may be completely wrong here, but that would be my next step.

That would have taken a bit of time to make all those pieces, very well engineered. The law of physics will make it not work as free energy doesn't exist. There is always friction,, and when power is taken off the device will slow down, if it decided to work.

    • @jasonotto4873
      @jasonotto4873 10 років тому +2

people say "free energy" however, this isnt free. the force of the magnetic fields acting on each other is the energy being expended. energy can be and must be transferred to other states of energy be it electrical current, heat, velocity, and so on. the force of the magnets is energy being transferred to motion of the gears and then lost in the heat of friction of the gears and bearings being spun. if this were to continue to spin on its own, its not creating energy. it is transferring it from state to state.
on another note, the word "law" is used in such a wrong term when in reference to physics and thermodynamics and such. a "law" is something that is definite. it is there regardless. i ask you all not just you RODALCO2007 this rhetorical question, how many times have the "laws" of physics been changed? But if it was changed, even in the smallest degree, how was and is that ever a law?
(I'm sorry RODALCO2007, this comment is meant for all readers. I'm not trying to pick on or troll you.)

The ONLY way perpetual motion machines will work is if you keep pushing them to add more energy into them than what you get out. And it's about that point, they stop being Perpetual Motor Machines and become a Perpetual waste of time, money and effort.

Stagger the alignment of the magnets so it meets the push of the next one before it gets caught in between, i think it might require some kind of lead to block it to a certain point so the magnetic fields dont interfere with eachother. I wish i could meet you and work on this with you. I wann abuild one myself with my own ideas but i dont have the funds, i think throught watching the failures of many other people i might have a way to make it work, the concept is sound, the magnets dont loose power, they just interfere with eachother. thats the only aspect that you have to figure out how to overcome, having them all aligned the same way means that when one is in between the push and pull they all are so it stops it, like is said, find the necessary alignment to cancel that out the neutral point or find a way to overcome it, im not very scientific with my vocabulary but i have a pretty good idea in my head how to make something like that work

Interesting experiment - Just a couple of observations/ thoughts.
The end blocks appear to be made from mild steel as do the shafts. This would greatly effect the magnetic fields and prevent the magnets from rotating. You may get better results using aluminium for the end blocks and shafts. Also try offsetting the magnet rings slightly so as to create a attract / repel field .

You need to stager your alignment so that as one magnet is pushing on the first wheel another is pulling on the second and the third is coming out of pulling. Kind of like adjusting the timing in an engine. If you have equal forces all the way around then there is no need to do any work.

You need now two vertical magnetic lines, in one of the sides, from steel bar to steel bar. Both taking only one of the circles. One line well pull, the other one well pooch one of the circles, whit magnetic field. Remember to live the other sides completely free of force, and just let it react to it's twin. Do this and your device is working pal.
And the stronger the magnetics, more will be it's speed, more power you well produce from it. So don't stop now you are almost there, just one more TTTTTTTTTT!....

The piece of metal that goes between the rollers should be thicker than 2-3 mm (depends on the strength of mag. field) if you want no repelling force to pass trough it.
I noticed this after i dismantled many hard drives, there are powerful magnets in it witch are requiring shielding to protect the magnetic data on the actual disc.
Please experiment with the different thickness of (metal) magnetic shielding between the rollers. I would also align 3 disc on each axle with small offset. nice work

are the facing one another N to S pulling or do you have them S to S or N to N pushing as far as each roller is concerned?..I would think pushing may do the trick, or have only one roller with magnets the other without and a string of magnets not on a roller offset pushing one roller..I made one with a 3d printer about a year go like your just haven't tried it the other way yet..

is there any way to rig up an internal gearing mechanism that will spin the magnets in a way so they will attract each other while approaching the point where they are closest, and then repel as they leave it? i know this would create a lot more friction in the system and thus probably would not work, but would it work better than just having the magnets be stagnate on the wheel?

  • @WilliamWendland

just a thought, but what if you angle the magnets down, or up with the magnets repelling each other, rather then attracting. Also maybe ditch the big chunks of steel as they are probably interfering with the magnetic field. maybe have 1 wheel of magnets, and a stationary magnet to repel the wheel, and control acceleration by angling, moving forward, and backward. also I believe it needs a weight to offset the balance to act as a slingshot, or lope
    . Just a thought....

Instead of having two cylinder motors rotating off of each other. You should have a single motor repelling off a stationary magnet "wall", "barrier", etc... that way you have something to synchronize the spinning motor's magnets positions.

First off, supercool machine shop you have there sir. I'm very envious.
Are your skills/equipment for hire? If so, please email Mr25thfret. Would to collaborate.
Nice video, but, there so many things dooming this experiment from the very beginning.
    1) Whats up with the gears? It's friction is stealing all sorts of power.
    2) I agree with other posters here that say take it off the metal table, stagger the magnets, make the magnets turn instead of the shaft. All valid points, but, it will never work in it's current config. It's working against itself.
If you want to explore it further, I would try to rotate the magnets near a copper coil(s), causing current. Then use that current to switch an electromagnet N/S on the other side of the magnets for propulsion. Gonna need something like a 555 IC or better to control the polarity. Or you could get creative with other polarity switching schemes. Either way, the magnets must be placed in their housing in an alternating North then South pattern. Then you could wire in a potentiometer to vary the frequency of the polarity reversal to gain speed or slow down. You might get a nice long-spinning toy, but again, mean ole' Mr. Thermodynamics is going to step in and put the brakes on every time.
There's a good model under the title of Magnet Motor, Free Energy Test.
All interested in this sort of thing must check out the Searl Effect Generator vids on youtube. It's for real and the concept is easy to understand. It's awesome to watch that baby when it gets going.

When I first saw this I knew it was not going to spin, the cylinders magnet are facing toward each other so the force of attraction will prevent it from continuously spinning. Unless I was wrong, you have to reverse the polarity on the magnets so they will continuously repel each other. South South or North North. But it has the magnets have to placed at a specific angle or it will be attracted to the South side while it is spinning.

hello mate.. I think they will work. There need be some changes though. I like the idea of multiple disks of magnets parallel set apart. But having 2 sets of disks side by side is actually stopping it from working. All it needs is a gentle nudge with a single magnets repulsive force. Take a look at this one here... /watch?v=QgmTsvIMD-k he has a good design as well but he shouldn't have modelled with the polarity using the electro magnet. Archimedes made a similar device with three wheel's using the Push, and similar gearing for timing.
Ming of China also did similar device, using repulsion and geared wheel's and in a chain he is said too have One Electric D.C. motor powering several generator's, again using gearing and magnet's North-North or South-South facing-Always Pushing away from each other in Time from gearing. Try lengthening your Axle's so you might put motor on one and Generator on other with fly-wheel, see if you can get sustained run. I'll try soon with hand spun coil's and magnet set up similar to your's.

  • @wesbrasure5448

It will never work for you because your design is very flawed. You need to mount your to metal plates to something stable. I know nothing about this machine and yet just by looking at it I can tell you it wont work. You need to keep your alignment for the machine to continually spin, which is impossible because your metal plates are completely unstable. Might also want to try removing one magnet from each wheel...Check out the link to see what im talking about Project Camelot looks at George Green's magnetic motor
On another note, I believe it is absolutely unintelligent to proclaim that something doesn't work because you couldn't get it to work. As much as I detest the man for what he did to Tesla, Edison was talking with people about the light bulb and someone brought up the fact that it took him over 2000 tries to make the light bulb work. They asked him if he was upset about failing 2000 times to make a light but, and his response was(paraphrasing) "No, I just learned 2000 ways how not to make a light bulb. Point is the problem is most likely not the idea or the concept, but the builder/designer. Don't proclaim that is doesn't work because you cant get it to work unless you've exhausted all possibilities and avenues.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to slowly insert magnetic shielding between the wheels (either from top, or bottom) so they can only attract or repel each other on the side of the axle where they're not shielded?
Even if the shielding isn't perfect, just lessening the magnetic effect on one side of the axle should induce enough force to make it want to spin.

The opposing magnets would need to have some sort of differential in mass. But then you would need a starter (think large scale producers, not the hand spin variety). A magnet of one type of metal, and a magnet of another type..eegads! Another metal? Well, a slightly modified hybrid of..if ever so slightly. But then the velocity required to reach productivity is where the 'starter' comes in. Where do you get it, how to power it, etc etc.

The powerful small magnets on my fridge have been holding themselves and photos up for years....Why do they not eventually fail? I am guessing they do. Is it that, In their production, I am assuming, heavy electrical currents were applied, and perhaps this would be the source of their energy. Just wondering.

As others have said, stagger the magnets so that they carry a spiral. Everything spins, its just a matter of the timing. A lot of great comments in here that you should definitely consider playing with. Don't give up, you may be closer than you think. The problem with your idea is quite simple, so keep it that way and don't over complicate things. If you get it to work, it won't take much to make it create power.

Basic physics explains that this would never work. The magnets attractive force is equal but opposite to their repelling force, so it is balanced. Where does the additional force come from to overcome the very friction between the spindles & block, and the friction between the yellow gears? It would 'spin' slightly longer with those gears removed as friction has been slightly reduced, but nothing greatly noticeable.

How did you went to all the trouble to build that and you don't even have a clue how that thing is supposed to work!? Give my your budget, I'll create a functional magnetic motor. We have a saying in my country: Deus dá nozes a quem não tem dentes. It means that God give stuff to people who don't know how to use them. If I had the money I already would have a functional magnetic motor powering "my house" and eventually I would create another to power an electric car. I would remove all the batteries because they would become utterly useless.

    Hey mate,
I am watching all these experiments with interest.
Jeez- u didn't half build this thing.
Anyway I wanted to mention something I have on another magnet motor vid-
bias. We need to offset the magnetic field somehow to bias it in one way relative to the wheel. IMO you could machine like a mild steel arrow, and place it between the magnet rollers. This would scramble the magnetic field, and perhaps make it spin very slowly.

Why is your milling process so slow ? with such a tool you can drive through that metalpiece with vc2000 and 1000 rpm. Thats what I learned.
But I dont know your particular machine and tools.

Hey themetalcutter, I'm just a tradesman but I think your problem is pretty obvious. I'm sure you have already worked out that if you spin your device it will always slow to a halt because of friction.
    How about this experiment...
I don't know if it can be done but what you need to do is incorporate a natural occurring force to override this friction. Maybe try using gravity? The motor will need to spin slower because if it spins too fast the centrifugal force will override the gravitational pull required to move the magnets around to the next magnets. You will need to use heavy weights and strong magnets and different sized sprockets to get a fast spinning result. Try taking out all of the magnets except two lines at north, south, east and west positions. Make the lines on slight angles to force direction and then position a weight (you will need to be able to adjust the weight to get it right) in the four gaps between the magnets. The two naturally occurring forces (magnetic and gravity) could balance out and be too powerful for the small friction to stop them. It might be worth a try, good luck mate.

People are always making crude comments about people experimenting with certain ideas, when in fact, they're forgetting the fundamentals of scientific experiments. Maybe the concept has been proven in the past, but what the ignorant naysayers don't comprehend is that scientific experimenting is interesting whether the experiment proves the possibilities exist or not. Perpetual motion, magnet motors, teleportation, cold fusion, etc. are interesting because physics say they're impossible to achieve, but nevertheless, it's still interesting to see just how close one can get to proving the impossible. People tend to give into the "physical impossibility" too quick without actually looking into the actual possibilities. Teleportation and Invisibility have been proven possible in the last decade....and even Einstein said anything that the human mind can imagine is possible.

It was quite forecful you'd think you could do something with this but then they'd have to be pretty damn big lol. I have no idea really i'm just saying.

This motor model is supposed to be using magnetic shielding.... but this guy doesn't even have metal pins in between the wheels so there is an attractive force. Attraction is what gets the wheel moving, then once the magnets get to the point where repulsion is greater than attraction, they will repel in the direction they were going via attraction. This motor WILL work, but only if you add a slimming peice of metal in the middle for attractive forces to be represented. This guy is a moron for saying it doesnt work when he didnt even build it completely. It's like expected a TV to work without plugging it in.

have u tried making a system with 6 magnets with alternating poles(N,S,N,S,N,S) on one rotor and 12 magnets similarly placed on the adjacent rotor and moved at the same rpm via gears. I don't have the resources to try it out myself nor do i have the brains to visualize this system

  • @DannoTull

You've at least got to mount it so you can try it at a faster speed.
Also I've all ways thought that these type of Gadgets won't independently work alone they need a kick start/backup system such as a battery and electric motor to boost the magnets then they need it to get rolling again and float charge the battery till it's needed again, OR larger wheels to use centrifical momentum to keep spinning so the magnets can come back on line.
    That's just my thoughts.

Strange gay, did he study anything in the school? His mashie will work but the magnets must be fixed differently. The axels of the magnets must not cross the axle of the disc, all magnets must be oriented same way at all discs, if he will choice that North pole of the magnet is facing to the center of the disc that all magnets must be oriented the same way. In that case magnetic motor will work, despite the fact that this construction for magnetic motor is stupid. Much easy to use one rotor with fixed on it 2-3 disc with magnets and remain magnets fix at the stator, the same sketch is using in the ordinary electric motor.

There some rights and some wrongs inyour current project!
1 you need a contruction with no magnetig metals!
2 also the 2 rods with the 3 wheels carrying the magnets cant be interconnected use only 1 rotor!
3 you need to surround your wheels with a similar sized ring from acryl or similar
With second set of magnets embedded on inner side of the ring .
4 the magnets have to be placed off lined so you get a canstant drive train!! With power

that is briliante idea, but need some adjustments, whend you put that magnegtic in line , on my idea don't work on that way, insted that try to put that magnetic in diagonal, you got 3 circuls with magnetic, try to put 1 same position as video show us, 2 litle bit above the line with the first, 3 litle bit above the line with the second.
the idea i have is the magnet atract the other opposite on diferent position...
like a stairs. think on diferent position for the magnets... one attracts the other on diferent position ...
them show how it works ....
    thanks...

Make sure its in a repeling configuration to the other spindle and then use a low carbon steel like 1020 or 1010 as your shielding material on one side only. Please do let me know how it works out. from what i been seeing in most videos is you need to create a dead zone and a catch zone... best to use iron, as simple as a file. You used three wheels, you'll need three of them. You have to make sure you set the magnets to repel one another, find the sweet spot between the set of wheels with the "file". You'll have to spin till it starts to spin on its own.... Let me know your progress...:-)

Do you know that when a magnet move next to a metal the metal temporarily will become magnet of the same polarity hence will repel instead of pull the magnet? And it becomes stronger the faster the magnet moves too. Having said that, I think this won't work. Not to mention the underlying law of conservation of energy

If you study basic high school physics you will see that collisions of elastic objects do create energy that doesn't seem to be there before the collision. Its there in the math (conservation of momentum). If you believe what is being told you will not see it. Look close at the math and understand why each step is taken and question it.

Simple, try placing a ring of magnets around the side opposite the gears, attached to the rotating cylinders. On the other wall closest to your new rig of magnets use coils of wire and build a rotating magnetic field effect. Build another system under the two rotating cylinders for emf pick up, to power your other coil.

The shaft will need a alignment key. The magnets need to be angled for one direct force rotation to drive the generator or altinatore to create the electricity you want.
Then you will need that electric motor to the wheels of your auto or hook up the electric motor directly to the bell housing on your cars transmission.
Of course you will also need a regulator for the charging system and 12 volt battery
    for back up.
