Disney Actor Matthew Scott Montgomery Sent To Conversion Therapy

Speaking to fellow #Disney alum #ChristyCarlsonRomano on her #podcast ‘Vulnerable’, #MatthewScottMontgomery opened up about his traumatic experience with conversion therapy.
Montgomery made it clear that #Disney had no idea what he was getting up to in his free time, telling Romano: “Disney was always really great to me. Disney had nothing to do with it, it was not their idea.
“They didn’t know, no one knew, my cast mates didn’t know at the time.”
The #Encino #California based conversion therapy centre marketed itself toward “gay men who wanted to be turned from gay to straight and make it as a straight movie star”, Montgomery claimed.
Montgomery eventually found his #chosenfamily in co-stars and child star friends like #DemiLovato, and “just kind of woke up,” deciding not to go back to the therapy centre. He notes the therapeutic experience he had starring in the play ‘YELLOW,’ which he credits as his big break. Montgomery played a 15 year old kid who was emotionally and physically abus3d for being gay and adopted by the neighbours after his mother abandons him. In the interview with #Romano , he states that the play was ‘healing’ because he “got the experience of what it was like to have a family not only love me but celebrate me.”

What happen to him was awful and absolutely heartbreaking 💔 but when his dad said to him that being gay is a choice no it's not if being gay was choice (which know it's not) do have choice when they get homophobic slurs thrown their faces or get beating up or even killed is it choice then is it and fact they trying "cure him" of his sexuality was just absolutely ridiculous "can't cure" someone being gay over night it's not how works these convention therapy camps should be ban altogether and all these christians should stop useing their beliefs has excuse but I'm glad his okay now after that #BanConversionTherapyNOW

It’s sad that his parents weren’t like mine. My family is conservative and my sister is also gay and has a girlfriend and she is also conservative along with her gf. We love them both and wouldn’t change a thing about them. Not all of us are full of hate. I wish the best for him ❤
