- Christina Applegate calls out Candace Owens over her controversial comments on an adaptive clothing campaign featuring a disabled model. The actress, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, calls out Candace's 'horrifying' opinion made on her Daily Wire talk series and shares the struggles she faces when trying to find accessible clothing options.

I am a disabled woman and I agree with both of these women. We do need more accessible fashion and representation but putting a healthy fit model wearing shapewear in a wheelchair is not the way to do it. Instead design an outfit made to look great sitting down, easier to put on and take off etc.
And... this is the comment of comments here.
Exactly kim didn't even make it specifically for disabilities so you'll have a hard time putting these on too and really she wanted attention and for more people to buy her products if she really cared she would've came out with something that actually is for someone with disabilities and then of course use the model in a wheelchair for it realistically instead she just saw and used it as an opportunity to take advantage of people that she felt would be happy to even get something she felt like she really got them by doing this and she did she even has people fighting candace forncalling her out on it
I'm newly in a wheelchair for many years to come. I totally agree with you That I agree with both. We need wheelchair accessible undergarments. But why the wheelchair model Is weird. I as well need help putting stuff on but zippers And Assisted Alternations is great But the wheelchair model Ad Is obviously For the sale Boost
And less about Showing us the product.

These news outlets love using the words like "SLAMMING", "DRAGGING", etc. So dramatic.
So when Candace said disabled people have basic bitch goals that’s not dramatic
yea like everything Candice "reports" on isn't dramatic. her brining up this at all is dramatic and content to get ppl riled up. conservatives as usual fear mongering, pushing anger and outrage, stoking peoples fears, being the morality police.. she doesn't get views on content just about conservative things she always has to take about "woke" or "liberal" things. she's always coming after a rapper or somebody to generate an audience because frankly she isn't interesting on her own.

I am disabled, and the last thing I worry about is fashion. It’s hard enough to pay for everything a handicap person needs without the fashion industry, trying to reach into my pocketbook .If fashion industry really cares about handicap, then give it to those who want it free but leave me out of it. I just think God I’m still on this earth for my grandchildren. Great grandchildren and teach them not to be materialistic.
I totally respect your opinion, however some handicapped people wanna look good and wanna have their style, just because someone is handicapped doesn't mean they have to throw in the towel, and wear stuff they don't like. It's like how maternity clothes changed, back in the old days like from the 50s through the 70s, lots of women felt that they couldn't look good or be comfortable with their appearance because, like my mom said lots of maternity clothes were hideous, Lol. They're just trying to show women just because you're handicapped doesn't mean you can't dress the way you want. Like I said I totally respect your opinion, but lots of handicapped people feel like they can't look great because they can't get the same types of fashion that non handicapped get. My ex girlfriend lost her arm in an accident when she was child, and she hated the fact that the shirts she wore had a dangling sleeve that she could never fully fill because she didn't have a whole arm, same thing with people who are missing legs, or a leg, they hate the fact that they can't buy clothes for amputees, I found out that they do make clothing for amputees, and for them that's a cool thing.
wow I never thought about it that way. Yea don't fall for the flashy tricks to get your money. I use to fall for it, now I dress comfortable and nice only $60 for my whole outfit at jcpenny (not including shoes)

What's ridiculous about the ad, thou?
Except she literally is targeting people in wheelchairs. Inclusivity is "in your face" because you're not in that sector of people? My God, Candace Owens. When those who haven't been included in ads, commercials, movies, television shows actually ARE??.... This 💯 positively affects those typically not included and positively affects people watching as it normalizes differences. Christina, do you even understand what was said???? She had ZERO to say about you, or people who can't walk - which includes me - she was saying WE DO NOT NEED ADs showing people in wheelchairs to understand that people in wheelchairs also wear underwear. She was actually slamming Kim Kardashian's AD not you, and not people who can't walk. Personally, perhaps I'm wrong as well when I say I do not find it attractive to see 200 - 300 pound women posing for underwear ads, in fact, even when they are modeling plus size clothing. I'm not afraid of the word FAT. People get fat. I was fat. I gain and lose and NO I do not find it pretty. I don't believe anyone truly feels happy fat. People may say that, but secretly they're dieting. Because it is unhealthy and it is unattractive and any SANE doctor in Europe at least will tell you it is an illness. Obesity is an actual illness, imbalance and often hazardous to our health. We are so used to walking on friggin egg shells in America that we have become all inclusive in an ABUSIVE ways - meaning, we USE people who are affected in some way for politics and that's disgusting. That is the disgusting part.

Christina completely missed her point, as did most of the people in the comment section. The reason why Candace is calling this out as stupid, is that disabled or not, ANYONE can wear the shapewear, regardless of your physical abilities or limitations. The ad is stupid. The point made by Kim is laughable virtue signaling. What is she going to do next? Do we need to see photos of amputees to understand that the shapewear is still what it is and always has been? Shapewear?
So then you’re also saying something as stupid as “well we don’t need to see black people modeling clothes too”. Your point makes absolutely no sense. We need the world to be more accepting and we need to see more images of people who are different. Otherwise everything is a clone.

I think its sad that Christina has got Multiple Sclerosis. She has gone through that and cancer. Truly being thrown a harsh pill to swallow but at the same time I can't see how Candace's comments are directly related to her. I had the opportunity to sit next to her as an extra and work on a film behind the camera with her in it. Multiple Sclerosis is devastating disease and life threatening. Its affects can have psychological impact on the mind and cause emotional strain. I think it would be best for her to live life as much as possible now because she might be able to in the near future.

"I didn't know that we had to see that in our face" says it all. This is so stigmatising. She doesn't seem to have issues about seeing non disabled people in her face.
lol so true.
I’m “disabled” and I understood what Candace was saying. I am disgusted by companies shoving people into ads based on the sympathy factor, non existent “virtu” that they claim, and using people to make themselves look like “good” guys. We do NOT need disabled women in ads! It’s so obvious that it’s literally selling the image of someone’s misfortune so that the people behind the advertisements can capitalize on some fake compassion and awareness that they don’t care about at all. It’s manipulation. It’s insulting. If you care so much than donate to research or assistance for those disabled that are less fortunate. How about donating to veterans that have their limbs in battle to protect YOU and your interests? Putting an image up is done for ONE reason….. fake virtue and care SELL. As if spending money on a product that uses these images does ANYTHING for the people that actually suffer. Truly virtuous people DO NOT need or desire the public to praise and recognize them. What matters is what and who you are when nobody is paying attention. Integrity is far more important.
I’m surprised again. You know today we have many people that are deemed disabled or challenged that act, model, and preform in many different situations. Ms. Applegate is a wonderful person who deserves respect. I’m afraid if Candace ever finds herself in any physical or mental distress she would not handle it well.

Absolutely... how is Candace Owen so ignorant on this subject? Being a black woman and fighting to be on par with white women for generations hasn't taught her anything about inclusivity? I sure didn't see this coming.
But how does a almost naked women in a wheel chair help learn about your disability and what you go through? Other than maybe satisfying wheelchair fetish people. The model portrayed in that picture is probably not even disabled. "fake" ad to begin with. There is nothing wrong or right with it. Just Candance's own opinion. Kinda of like I don't want to see obese people in sports illustrated covers. Christina, while I like her, had her feelings hurt by other's opinions. Typical liberals.
If Kim can pretend to be disabled, why is it wrong to wear black face?
Is arthritis a disability??
@@greyLeicester Seriously?? That's your question? She says she's disabled. Good enough for me.
It is significant that Christina's illness is mentioned here first, although this has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. You will witness here how manipulation works. First of all, very important, the pity card is played. In this way, compassion is directly appealed. This person is seriously ill, which triggers protective instinct and everyone she attacks is also attacked by us. If she is attacked, we defend her. This keynote is set first. And already no one is completely neutral anymore and the opponent has a harder time for everything that is still to come. Then clips and audios are wildly mixed together that are not in context with each other, but support the story of the narrator.
This happens every day on TV in the news. Expressions of opinion of the reporters have no place there, but are included there with a reason. Opinion-making in favor of the desired direction.
I agree totally with this. However, I think (and have always thought) that Candace Owens is a fraud, and her "conservative" persona is her "schtik".

My mother suffered from MS for the last 37 years of her life. Because she wasn't a priveledged elitist and had to look after herself with the help of family , fancy gala gowns were the last thing on her mind. And yes , practical loose fitting garments and stretch pants with elastic waist bands were her typical attire .
oh stop. You're enabling assholery. that doesn't make you cool.
As an older, very conservative, Christian, white man, I’ve been in a wheelchair due to MS for over 23 years I do get both sides of this. Candace would have been well served to have spoken with people who view the issue differently than her. She may have discovered things she didn’t know about.
I know that there is a sense of acceptance when the broader society acknowledges someone (or someone(s)) existence. There are still many in our society who assume that when you become visibly disabled (that is they use a wheelchair, white cane, walker etc ) that you cease to live normal life and either go to a nursing home or become homebound.) I am as articulate today as I was before the wheelchair and served churches as pastor and several places in denominational leadership, but yet today (in 2024)when I go out to eat with a group or just with my wife it is very common that the server will assume I can’t talk or think & ask those with me what I want to eat. After the meal I am almost never offered the ticket-even if it is just my wife and me.
At this point people will remind me of the ADA so of course people are recognised.
But it is normal for builders (whether a house builder or someone building multimillion dollar mega buildings) to try to get around building something accessible.
For clothes, retailers may not know there is a need until something like an ad is put in their face.
MS is a horrible life changing disease. It's very hard, especially for women, to feel normal and feminine, as you lose all freedom of movement. There are many levels of MS, mild and aggressive.
My wife was diagnosed with an aggressive form of MS years ago. It started as a limp on the right leg. Many horrible treatments and years later, she lost all bodily functions, ability to speak, and requiring 24/7 care in a nursing home. Eventually, she passed away, as her body completely shutbdown.😢

“Conservative views” have become synonymous with narrow-mindedness (even according to Candace’s definition of what that is), and just lacking empathy and compassion altogether. I’ve heard some truly malicious things come out of her mouth that not even God would support. People like her put themselves on a pedestal in the name of God and criticize everything under the sun, forgetting she is also an imperfect human under that sun. It’s not enlightening, it’s annoying and unnecessary. I come from a conservative, religious family, and they never speak with such harshness. They speak with respect and compassion, even for those who don’t share their views and beliefs, or even when speaking about topics that put their views into question. I’ve seen them address those situations with love, tact and respect. So, I’ve seen the difference and can’t support someone who seems to enjoy being bashful, divisive and belittling when it comes to things she doesn’t agree with. I’m glad someone with a bigger platform called her out, and I hope she’s able to find humility, because she’s really just being stupid. “Let’s all agree to stop being stupid.”

When she interviews others she edits the tapes to make the other person look ignorant and rude while she looks like " The crusader for truth for the conservative community!" When truly she is anything but. For someone to say seeing someone like myself in an ad offends them is so demeaning! Like I don't have the right to buy something that makes me feel sexy? Come on!
That is very true!
And you know she i edits how?
To be clear, both women act like children. This did not have to go public had both of them decided to approach this as adults. Obviously one tipped her toe in the water first, but supposing this was handled by Applegate diplomatically, the first video may have been removed giving all the harpies nothing to harp about.
@@JennyBrie2006 I disagree. Candace Owens’ ignorant attitude about this is widely circulating in the public eye. Christina coming out against Candace’s attitude is good, as it is also public and is educating people. She doesn't edit her guests to make them look stupid. You're literally making that up. Also, if you listen to the entire podcast you would know that wasn't her message and they're twisting the meaning of the point she was making

So sorry Candace Owens has to "see that" some people are disabled. Its really inconvenient for her to be reminded of the struggles of others. Maybe Candace needs to reaffirm her Christian beliefs which she is always touting. Or perhaps she is modeling herself after Jezebel, and in that case, she nailed it.
From the humbleness of how Candace started the conversation says she's open.
"... that we need to see it in our face?" Good grief. Why shouldn't we see it? There are those among us who LIVE their lives in wheelchairs!

How easy and how lazy to feature a woman dressed in skims sitting in a wheelchair? The challenging, difficult and more practical thing for billionaire designer Khardashian to do would be to specifically design and create flattering and adaptive clothing lines of skims for disabled individuals.
