This may be the best breakdown of James 2 I have seen and I already knew everything you were saying but you made it even more clear.
I agree James is talking about eternal rewards, not eternal life. It’s much clearer than people realize.
Unfortunately many people will say James and Paul disagree and contradict one another. Not only is that not true in this specific context, but I think a lot of people see that and really start to question the validity of the Bible. How could they contradict each other and both books be canonized, etc. I think it will hurt a lot of people’s faith and make them question untrue things.

@@BibleLine “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.”
      ‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ‭
James was writing to the twelve tribes of Israel, those were his brethren. James wrote this before the Pauline gospel.
It was not written to the body of Christ.
Aside from that, the works that are being talked about are for the benefit of others. By our works we can spread the gospel. Not how we are saved.

@@montyeason3973 First, faith per se doesn't save you from sin and hell. God saves you from sin and hell when we trust in Jesus. Faith is the mechanism through which God saves us.
Second, the difficulty depends on the person. For the unbeliever, faith is clearly harder, and they don't have any opportunity of reward until they are saved. For the believer (one who is saved), obviously the loss of reward is harder.

    • @montyeason3973

@@jedimasterham2 You're minicing words. Faith is trusting in JEsus. You cannot be saved without it. Faith is not something else! Without faith it is impossible to please God. It doesn't mean we earn anything, but we have to believe that God rewards those that diligently seek him. THat's what faith is. James asks can that man's faith save him? If any among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but decieveth his ownheart, this man's religion is in vain. Pure religion, and undefiled before God and the Father s this, TO visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Be doers of the word , and not hearers only, deceiving your ownselves. A vain religion is not a saving religion. God saves us by grace through faith to be doers of the word, not hearers only. That;s the argument in Chapter 2. Faith without deeds is dead. Dead don't save. I know it messes up the once saved always saved teaching. It was either Calvin or Luther who didn't even consider James as inspired becasue of this. Read Matthew 25 and the sheep and the goats in light of James and you'lll understand. And no our good deeds don't save us, but without them the faith we were saved by, will be to no avail. Our deeds are the fruit of our relationship with God. Our words, not so much, be ye warmed and filled, but hath not pity. How can the love of God be in that man? Not will he just lose some rewards.

Nicely done. While loss of reward is certainly a by product of not being profitable in your walk I also believe the question about can that faith save your soul is also referring back to James 1:21 which states that receiving the word in humility and having it implanted can save your soul- which really means fulfilling the very purpose of your salvation which is to walk in good works (saved for good works) and being a doer of the word is the context. When you are a doer of the word, you are a profitable, and your life will find meaning and purpose. It has nothing to do with loss of salvation or proving your saved.

I think the most dangerous things to do is to not rightly divide The Word of Truth and not stay in context of Scripture because if it is preached out of context to someone they will suffer with confusion, despair and mental torment or confuse others like a chain pattern going to the next person and to the next person like an infectious disease.
One that has been hurting so many believers is taking this part of Scripture in Matthew out of context when Jesus Christ was speaking to the pharisees
    Matthew 12:32
    King James Version
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
This passage is always taken out of context and misused and often causes fear to others and mental torment because they believe that this sin can be done by a believer which a believer cannot commit this sin because in a nutshell whoever commits this sin is calling GOD a liar which GOD CANNOT LIE EVER. When they was given The Gospel of Jesus Christ they called it false or a lie and they rejected their ONLY means to Salvation which is believing Solely on Jesus Christ for Salvation. So if you do that you are not just denying Jesus Christ Sacrifice for your sins but you are denying The Powerful Work of The Holy Spirit to come and indwell in you til our Jesus Christ comes back. If one is not born again they will not inherit The Kingdom of GOD.
I see so many lordship salvationist calvinistic teachers preach a heresy like suicide and other sins are unforgiveable sin they are making final judgements for people condemning them to hell without proper context of Scripture acting as they are speaking for GOD when in fact they're either in error with understanding Scripture or more seriously they are telling others and lying on GOD like the serpent did eve he try to twist what GOD told adam and eve.
The pharisees were so prideful arrogant and malicious of their own position they knew who Jesus Christ was and what He was doing for the people and they bitter and jealous and hated Jesus and what He was doing but Jesus warned those pharisees that they almost committing that sin that won't be ever forgiven which basically not Believe in Him . They went so low and diabolical to accuse our Precious Lord Jesus Christ of having a demon or working out of that power but still out of Love Jesus still warn them yes Jesus could have condemn them right their but we must remember Saul/ Paul who was a very knowledgeable pharisee who believe he was zealous and " on fire" for GOD but out of ignorance and a dimmed senses and hatred he had for Christians he was murdering Christians which was an antichrist thing to do he was against Christ and those follow our Lord so much that had hate in his heart to murder them. But Thank The Lord Jesus Christ that Jesus came upon Saul / Paul and blinded him in demascus throwing him of his horse while he was on his way to terrorize more Christians Jesus intervene by blinding him and asking why was paul against Him basically why he was against Christians but Paul was given an option basically He could have said no and kept doing what he was but out of his own ignorance and misdirected zeal "for GOD" he realized of what Jesus was doing and revealing to him . Going from Saul to Paul he later became a disciple of Jesus Christ and did great things for The Lord. Believing in Jesus til the end .
We must understand that GOD loves us all He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for all our sin " great and small" past present future sins are covered in The Powerful Innocent Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
Once you place your Faith in Jesus Christ for Salvation you are Saved and Sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption.
Remember Scripture says in Romans 8 33 -39 that Nothing can separate us from The Love of GOD "
That means nothing we can do or anyone else can do to separate us from The Love of GOD.
So if Paul was given Salvation and he was literally murdering those who believed in Jesus then we know right there what is forgiven all sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ our Lord paid it All with His Precious Powerful Innocent Blood. But if you believe in your heart today and say that what Jesus Christ did wasn't true or wasn't enough or sufficient then you my friend is risking your life your eternal life and being with The Lord Jesus forever but if you die right now or in a few minutes, hours , days , months , years life is so so short in a blink of an eye you and me can be gone but Knowing you have everlasting life brings peace and you can have it right now at this very moment you can be saved always and forever more you repent which means changing your mind from unbelief in Jesus Christ for Salvation to Believing in Jesus Christ for Salvation. Simple just by believing Solely in Jesus Christ for Salvation you are saved forever and sealed with The Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption.
You can't ever lose your Salvation
    Once saved always saved.
Jesus Christ did it for all of us He conquered death and hell . It is Finished.
And if you already have believed in Jesus Christ and received The Holy Spirit then rest in His Love Thank The Lord and keep in Faith focus on what Jesus Christ did for us daily to remind you of your freedom don't be fearful rest in His love.
Salvation is a Free GIFT from GOD and not earned by man through works lest any man should boast.
For by Grace through faith in Christ Alone we are Saved.
Let GOD be The Truth and every man a liar .
    GOD CANNOT LIE EVER
    so we cannot die.
That sweet beautiful promise is Everlasting life life forever with THE ALMIGHTY SOVEREIGN TRIUNE LIVING GOD IN HEAVEN .
LET ALL POWER GLORY HONOR PRAISE AND THANKS BE TO THE ALMIGHTY SOVEREIGN LIVING TRIUNE GOD IN HEAVEN FOREVER AND EVER AND ALWAYS IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME AMEN HALLELUJAH ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️

I would disagree here. James specifically mentions receiving a crown, gifts, and blessings for your deeds. Other translations actually use the word “reward” here too.
      James 1:12
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
      ‭‭
      James 1:17
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
      ‭‭
      James 1:25
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

He is life. He is the reason we have eternal life, justification and the whole thing. Nonetheless, rewards are something God mentions believers can earn, but they have zero to do with salvation. Also, this rewarding system is not to be thought of connected to envy, jealousy or pride. We aren’t trying to just make more rewards than believer x or believer y. It’s all about getting souls saved. God promises reward to believers who serve faithfully. The reward may simply be the fact that you’ll see those who you led to Christ in heaven! That’s fulfilling in and of itself. Perhaps the sorrow at the judgment seat of Christ is knowing what you could have done…

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  6 місяців тому +3

We know heaven has no sin, envy, strife or contention. Therefore, the rewarding will not result in any of the sort. I personally believe rewards are prominent with regard to two areas. We find that our service does result in rewards, and the first is position in the 1,000 year kingdom with Christ. He does mention ruling and reigning with him. I reject any notion that there will be janitors vs princes because that is ridiculous. However the setup, God is righteous, and we will be satisfied perfectly.
The second thing I believe rewards pertains to is souls. I believe those who we reach in Christ are a reward in and of itself. Even the angels have great joy over one sinner who repents. Perhaps we will see who we reached with the gospel, and that is the reward.
Other crowns are mentioned, and God will reward accordingly, but there is no indicator that any lack of unity or sinful strife causing no peace should occur in eternity future.

Great video. James 2 should really be titled: Actions Speak Louder Than Words. If you are a Christian in only in what you say about what you believe, and not in how you act, you are sending mixed messages. Words and deeds should be aligned. The questions asked in verses 14 and 16 are rhetorical. They are trying to get the reader to reflect and analyze their actions in conjunction with their words. Are they aligned? When we are saved, we are given gifts to use for the body. Are we employing them or are we being lazy.
Works don’t prove salvation. They reveal Christ working in you to help edify the body, and be a witness for him.

Take note of verse 17. The works is a definite article. In the Greek language the definite article needs only to be used once within the subject matter. The works is specifically pointing to The Works of the Spirit. Not our work. Verse 16 is giving a physical example. The Spirit will not leave us without. Go to verse 26. It becomes obvious the work is of the Spirit. Without the Spirit we are spiritually dead. No working of The Spirit. James is pointing to the Judeizers.
    James 2:26 KJV
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Active/living faith produces good works yes. Inactive/dead faith is by no means invalid, false or non-existent faith.
Faith is black and white. You either have it or you don’t. Living faith as you call it is recommended by James, but it’s not the only type of faith that saves you.
You can have inactive faith and still make it to heaven, that’s just not very profitable to others, and you will suffer loss of eternal rewards, but not eternal life.

The word perfect could be stated as “mature.” James is not writing to unsaved people concerning their salvation, but he is writing to saved people concerning their lifestyle after being saved. Abraham was saved when he believed, but he showed his maturation when God tested him with the offering of Isaac.

    James 2:15-17
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
This is exactly like the sheep and goats being judged. Those who do will receive the inheritance of the kingdom. Those who don't do, will not. That is everlasting punishment.
    Matthew 25:32-46
“All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
“And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
    'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?

“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
    ‘for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
‘I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
“Then they also will answer Him,fn saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’
“Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
“And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
    James 2:21-23
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
This was the fulfillment of Abraham's faith being accounted to him for righteousness. Justified by works. Belief without works as he said is useless.
Who are the friends of God?
    John 15:10-14
“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
Abraham was called a friend of God. He did what was commanded of him.
    John 8:39
They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
    Genesis 26:4-5
    And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;
“because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
    James 2:24
You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
    Romans 2:13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
    James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
    For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
This also goes along with Matthew 25 and Mathew 7(those who build on the rock).
To add, we will be judged by the law of liberty. What is this "law of liberty"?
I have more to add about 1 Corinthians 3 but ive already posted a lot. If anyone has questions about it I can and will address it.

You know when a person is not stressed about losing their salvation usually they work harder for the Lord. It's comparable to a workforce on earth, if a person is under constant stress their performance is going to lack. A lot of people are going to quit which is why Calvinism and Lordship salvation are like a revolving door. No security, no assurance, loss of faith and ultimately depression. It's terrible. A person should never keep sinning once they become a believer but its not to keep their salvation, it's to be a good son. A good father doesn't disown their child because they mess up. They chastise them and welcome them back when they turn back to him or they let them live with the consequences of their actions, but he is still their father.

[and if it was not you, then the other guy reported it or something, which speaks volumes about intellectual honesty, the whole point and go figure.
My previous reply has been removed, or it has at least been shadowbanned at the moment I'm writing this. The one where I precisely said the accuser is the one trying to prevent others from helping the rest to find actual Salvation and help them not to be deceived by lies and heresies like OSAS. While the comforter is the one that helps those people that have been fooled by such lie to find truth. Jesus is truth itself, while OSAS is a lie. Therefore OSAS is not and can't be from Jesus.
Jesus died in the cross for our sins, indeed, but one still has to cooperate with Him to partake in His sacrifice, He doesn't force anyone to believe, otherwise believing would be meaningless. It has to be by choice. One person being allowed back into a building after they were expelled for making a mess [so to speak] doesn't mean that they will choose to return to the building at all [they may choose not to do so], and if they do, that doesn't mean they can't be cast out again if they keep making a mess, which was the reason they were expelled in first place. Is that simple.
The problem is you don't understand what the sacrifice of Jesus is even about. You believe is a cool-bypass out fo good-will to sinful creatures "just because", to let you do whatever you want without any consequences, which is just absurd, is illogical [and God is the author of logic and order itself, therefore such conclusion can't be from God neither]. _That's not how it works, that's not how anything works!_
In reality, Jesus did His sacrifice because of two things, first, His love to humanity; humanity sinned, which is an offense to God, and therefore compromised its relationship with God, separating itself from Him, therefore God had to expel humanity, for He is perfectly just and nothing impure can be alongside God, but God also wanted humanity at His side, for He loves us, so He planned how to rescue us, for He is perfectly merciful.
The second is, because the offense was made to God, the debt of such offense is therefore infinite, because God is infinite. Humanity itself can't ever pay an infinite debt by itself, because humanity is a finite entity, only God can pay an infinite debt, so He became one of us so we can all pay through Him that infinite debt. That's the importance of recognizing Jesus as fully human and fully God, for He can pay for all of us by being one of us that way, and He can also pay the infinite debt of sin because He is God.
However, this doesn't mean you can go sinning again [make a mess in the building again], because that's the very reason God *had* to expel us in first place, the whole point, because nothing impure can be alongside God. What happens with Jesus' sacrifice is that He allows us to go back to be with God, he reopens the doors [so to speak], but one still has to accept His offer of reuniting with Him and behave once inside. If you break the rules again, out again you go. Know what am I saying?
This is why the man-made ideology of OSAS is so absurd [with all due respect, dear brother] trying to justify evil or morally questionable things as permisible whenever you feel like it, as if being allowed back into the building would mean you can start making a mess whenever you like again. That's so Satan-minded, one can't even...
If we commit sin again, or simply decide to turn our backs on Him, then we're directly denying His grace and are rather insulting Him again, we are separating ourselves from Him again. You would be rejecting Jesus' sacrifice, not partaking in it, therefore you would be missing Salvation. The whole point.
      Godbless.

Jesse, you are close but close in hand grenades is still deadly. You did not go down to 1 Cor 3:17 where it says that anyone who destroys the temple gets destroyed. Up to 16 it is about gain or loss of reward with the believer yet saved so as by fire. But in 17 it moves to a place of "if what you are doing and teaching causes another believer to lose their salvation (destroyed temple) then they themselves will be destroyed (eternally).
Concerning James 2 :18, it solves the works/faith debate. It says if you are a "by works I am saved" person then you had better be able to show how salvation is by faith alone and not works. And if you are a salvation by "by faith alone" person you had better show that salvation by your works. You have to have it both ways.
James is talking about eternal salvation because He says in 1:15 how when sin is finished it bringing forth death. 1:22 says to be a doer not a hearer only and then says that when you are not a doer of the word you leave the mirror and forget who you are. You are leaving the mirror in which you see the image of Christ. As you move away from the mirror by not doing the word (that you believe) you lose that image of salvation (the new nature) that is only maintained by looking in the mirror of continually doing the word. Look in the mirror at home in your bathroom. As you turn away from the mirror you lose the image only seen by looking into the mirror.
Am I saying this happens overnite, no. But the person who claims Christ yet habitually sins (habitually not a doer of the word) is like one who has stepped of the Empire State Building..He may not be dead yet but has a date with a sidewalk (eternal death).
Finally, in James 3:1 James warns the dangers of being a teacher. The teacher has the ability to put a bit in the body of Christ's mouth, like a horse, and lead it into spiritual life or into spiritual death. This is why the teacher is judged more than none teachers. Yes, loss of reward but beyond this is hell for those who destroy the foundation of life in another believer. I can't say, in my heart, that I know you are lost by teaching OSAS but the Bible is clear that those who offend others to the point of losing their salvation will lose theirs (but you can repent and turn back). Jesse, you are on dangerous ground with OSAS. I know you do not encourage sin but OSAS message is a tacit approval of it.

      Luke 18:10-14
      New Living Translation
10 “Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer[a]: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people-cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! 12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ 14 I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

      Matthew 7:21-23
      King James Version
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
