the thing with HvsV is that Russel's biggest move was blindsiding Tyson and then getting rid of Rob but then after the merge the big moves belonged to Parvity and all he did was piss off every single jury member and hope to get their vote

Russell didn't do that and completely ignored the social side, hence why he has deservedly lost multiple times. While much better players like Natalie White and Sandra paid attention to that social side and got to know every juror member personally and knew what game they would respect in the end, along with making brilliant strategic moves and playing the game in a way that works for them. Hell, Natalie made the greatest move all season in Samoa when she planted and subtly led the blindside against Erik. It was masterful and one of the best merge-episode blindsides of all time. Something Russell didn't pull off. All he did that round was completely waste an idol and unnecessarily put a target on his back. Because you have to admit it. If it weren't for the fact that he found that second idol, he would've gone home at final 11 100%. He needed it to survive and wouldn't have gone further if not for the idol. Yet another example of someone confusing BIG gameplay for GOOD gameplay. I do understand why Russell has a fan base, as he has good qualities. And he is extraordinarily entertaining TV. And I will acknowledge and respect your response and your opinion as at least you're being respectful, and where you're coming from is valid. But that's just my take on it. Wu is basically Sandra considering that fact that his social game was horrible. But the difference is that Tony actually won. If Russel played today as dominant as he did he would no doubt win. That's why I wish they did another Heroes vs Villains.
The thing in HvV is that no one knew who Russell was or his reputation, it gave him an advantage over the other players. On Redemption, they would have been complete fools to keep him around. But it's not like Russell will ever actually win survivor because he doesn't acknowledge the social aspect of the game & that is his major flaw/downfall.
@BradSSFL Boston Rob DOMINATED the original All-Star edition in 2004. He dominated that game socially, strategically & physically, and finished 2nd when a bitter jury only gave him 3 of the 7 votes. Rob dominated Redemtion Island, where Russell finished 17th (who no longer had the previous advantage of others not seeing his previous season), while Rob WON. Both players had a target on their back, but Rob's superior social game put his foot through the door.
Everyone seems to forget two things in this whole debate. Firstly, although Rob didn't make it past the merge in his first season, there were also no hidden immunity idols in that season; all players back then had to rely on their social skills. Secondly, Russell's first season hadn't even aired when this season was recorded, so nobody could have known just how he played survivor. I highly doubt Russell would have made it to the end if hidden immunity idols weren't in the game because his strategy infuriates the other contestants. Also, I'd bet that if his season had aired before going back out for HvV, not one person would consider playing with him and he'd be voted out much the same way as he was on RI.

Ok well let's look at each of their first seasons, rob didn't even make the jury and russell single-handedly fought his way to the end with an 8-4 member disadvantage, and yeah the social aspect is pivotal but there's alot more to the game than just that... the strategic standpoint and saving yourself and your alliance through bold moves and persuasive speeches. that's what russell did!
Hantz is like one of those trash talking slime ball politicians who have great game in the primaries by pushing all the negative buttons but have zero percent chance of winning the general election for those exact same reasons. I get it. He won a few prizes and got some cash. Russell did Ok despite losing. I get why a tribe-mate would follow him to the end considering Russell can't win. I get why the show would want him on and why some types would like him. But come on.... if the criteria for being a great Survivor Player in anyway involves there being even a slight possibility of victory then Russell Hantz is a terrible player with a terrible strategy. If someone played the Hantz Game on Russell Hantz himself even Russel wouldn't vote for that guy. No one would. Sandra could repeat her victory, so could Rob because they showed loyalty as well as cunning. Thery have an upside. They could go on other shows and compete. Russell has burned every bridge for that or any other game.
rob's right. survivor's turned into some cushy, 2nd class vacation where they hand out catered dinners for every reward challenge and even give the losers a participation prize. back in the day if you won a challenge you might get a pot to boil water or a blade of grass to floss your teeth with. now they're handing out these immunity gimmicks cause it makes for better tv. back in rob's day russell would have been a sacrifice on day 1 and his ass served up on a plate for dinner. survivor isn't a reality show anymore; it's as planned as any other drama on tv with a little bit of clever ad lib. this russell guy has had the road to victory paved for him and he still loses. classic

BITTER JURY is the exact reason he lost. People are salty they got out played and they threw little fits everytime, like a bunch of gaping () 's I'll gladly admit that in H vs V he didn't have the jury game and was very quiet cuz Sandra threw his hat in the fire, which was the only good thing she did in that season. And he deserved to place 3rd. But the season prior when he found all the idols and they gave the W to the piggybacking dumb blonde because they were big babies, was absolute garbage. It was really detrimental to Rob's game by not voting out one of the three in Russell's alliance over Randy when he had the chance. I loved Russell he's like one of the most talented players ever and not a "bad" guy. In Micronesia that whole evil girl group making it to the final those bitches are evil, they laughed as they screwed over their guy friends. Russell played the game as "be cool with me and we got this but when it's time for final 5 you better start playing this game" he found idols without clues to the point survivor buries idols more often. He's a genius and his last season voted him out too damn early and they did shit without any real direction without him.

Ok well let's look at each of their first seasons, rob didn't even make the jury and russell single-handedly fought his way to the end with an 8-4 member disadvantage, and yeah the social aspect is pivotal but there's alot more to the game than just that... the strategic standpoint and saving yourself and your alliance through bold moves and persuasive speeches. that's what russell did!

I get it. He won a few prizes and got some cash. Russell did Ok despite losing. I get why a tribe-mate would follow him to the end considering Russell can't win. I get why the show would want him on and why some types would like him.
But come on.... if the criteria for being a great Survivor Player in anyway involves there being even a slight possibility of victory then Russell Hantz is a terrible player with a terrible strategy.

rob's right. survivor's turned into some cushy, 2nd class vacation where they hand out catered dinners for every reward challenge and even give the losers a participation prize. back in the day if you won a challenge you might get a pot to boil water or a blade of grass to floss your teeth with. now they're handing out these immunity gimmicks cause it makes for better tv. back in rob's day russell would have been a sacrifice on day 1 and his ass served up on a plate for dinner. survivor isn't a reality show anymore; it's as planned as any other drama on tv with a little bit of clever ad lib. this russell guy has had the road to victory paved for him and he still loses. classic
Russell adapted to the new times, I'm sure if the game was still like it was back then, then Russell would have adapted
