@@andyH_Englandwell we encountered Huawei with a sniffer deeply rooted in its OS back in 2013. This was before it was banned from the US from public sales. We found one the following year and we as government personnel were banned from it. And to release proof would be to show how we found it, that would give insight on our technology. I’m also not surprised that a country that is known spying on its on people could implement such technology, it also doesn’t help that the Chinese government has a hand in Huawei. We have plenty of civilians working on our government facilities, having a device like that would be detrimental to our securities.
@@superiortoall22 I am sure there are exploits in every OS and I suspect most Gov’s have the ability to hack any consumer phone. Hi there! quick question, how's your battery Life so far I'm currently planning to buy the p50 pro coming from p40 pro but my biggest concern is the battery life. Thank you in advance!
I am late to the party and I am seriously considering this phone with the Xiaomi 12t pro. But the Huawei P50 Pro costs 50,- euro extra. I mainly want to use it as a camera phone for making photos outdoors (making use of zoom camera) and indoors. No need to game or anything. Is it worth the extra cash? What is your opinion, is it worth it?
hi thx for review. I have the p50 pro dual sim with EMUI 12. I am able to use google drive, google sheets, doc and youtube perfectly so far. For youtube I have installed youtube vanced which is even better than authentic yt. You can use it with the screen off. For now the issue I have not solved yet is related to the back up of my whats app history from my old to this new p50 pro ... I'm still trying to figure it out. However all the rest look great even google maps works same way on this huawei p50.
It makes me weird to see a Huawei with a Snapdragon 😞. It's like seeing an iPhone with a Mediatek processor from 3 - 4 years ago. When I think of what the Kirin 9000, which is already 2 years old, is capable of doing, I kind of imagine what it would have been like if Huawei had been able to continue its Kirin. On the other hand, I'm a little disappointed that Huawei has abandoned its 3D face unlock, and as I said 2 years ago with the P40 Pro / Mate 40 Pro, they should have centered the pill like Apple is apparently going to do on its future iPhones 14. Instead of seeing a pill bigger than the holes in the screen of Android smartphones, people would have seen a miniaturized and revolutionary Face-iD. But at least Huawei seems to have solved its photo-video colorimetry problems, but especially its video stabilization problem, that's the main reason why I stopped to use Huawei. The real big problem with this smartphone is its price, it costs more than an iPhone 13 Pro and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Huawei must accept that its status is no longer the same and review its pricing positioning otherwise it will be really complicated for them, the proof they have gone from number 1 in China (their home market where normally the absence of GMS should not be a problem) to not even in the top 5.
well said. Huawei really still thinks they're one of those brands that can charge well over $1000 for a phone, when in reality they're far from that. Huawei is delusional at this point.
Wish the US/China spat would get sorted. Have a p40 pro and love it. Hacking GMS onto it is possible, but occasionally breaks due to updates and you have to faff again. Such great hardware, such a massive shame on the software functionality.
i have p30 pro but since huawei have no Google i will go for google phone in my upgrade. such a shame there is no google as p30 was best phone i ever had.
I love Huawei phones. I've had 4 since 2018, the last being a P30 Pro.. Just had to change to the Pixel 6 though, as I can't do without Google services. I had the same issue in 2014 when I used a Blackberry Z10. Had to change to Sony as the app store didn't have what I needed. Look what happened to BlackBerry 😐
Great review as always! Front camera quality looks bad, I guess that was the compromise. Also 4k 30fps or 60fps for video on the front camera? I'm assuming 30fps because it was not mentioned.
I like Huawei Phones. I've had P9, P10 Plus, P20 Pro & P30 Pro. All superb phones. I like Google services so didn't get the P40 series sadly. I'm still hoping Huawei gets GMS licence back & I'll be straight back. I actually reckon that Huawei have had so much press in the last 2 years that if they managed to get GMS back their sales would dwarf Samsung, Pixel etc
It's wild how we now normalise phones that cost well over $1000 when 99% of people will use it for Instagram, Snapchat, twitter, texting apps and taking pictures. The price of a gaming pc? Yes, I do realise there are some mobile gamers out there but it's not the normal. Throw in that it doesn't even come with the Google services, this must be a hard sell in non Asian markets.
Imagine being a mobile gamer lmao, those games for android and ios are nothing but pay2win money pits where you spend your money in order to progress, yes there are some games that have a storyline and can be completed like Earn to Die 1&2, plants vs zombies 1&2 and some of Rockstar's games and some other I can't think of, those games are in very small number like 1% compared to the rest 99%
I am also using p30 pro and the camera itself is not outdated it cannot be, the camera system is still on pair even with today's flagships but the phone itself it outdated, it's software, 60hz refresh rate and no stereo speakers.. But battery life is still amazing and everything works just fine although i am considering to change it in the next months..unfortunately

I wonder now that this has a SD 888,could we see a Gcam port for this? I know the stock cam is pretty amazing as is,but I have always wondered of the possibilities that could arise with google's software and huawei's incredible camera hardware
I'm not sure if that's desirable, given Huawei's RYYB main camera. But I could be wrong, if Huawei went back to an RGGB camera for the P50 Pro; I couldn't tell what the main camera sensor was. Edit: I just looked back at the launch video from July 2021. No, they revealed nothing beyond an aperture of f/1.8 and 23mm focal length. The 50MP sensor could be anything, given how many there are after the debut of the IMX700 in 2020.
Gcam port will never be as good as what you have on the pixel device, cos pixel have dedicated image processor for fine-tuning their images and is pretty much optimized to work together. Huawei on the other hand pics are top of league, so who needs ports ?
@@frankieexlr6398 this is precisely the kind of thinking we don't need in the android space, we're fricking android users, not iOS We have the power to decide when to use the stock camera and when not to, especially since installing gcam doesn't mean your stock camera will just stop working without reason I use gcam on my S21 Ultra and it greatly helps in rendering textures more naturally and preventing the "oversharpen edges and smoothen textures + denoise" trick samsung does to all of it's photos so they seem tack sharp from a surface viewing. It's not so much an issue with the main or wide sensors though, but with the telephoto,it is very, very noticeable, especially when shooting human or animal subjects I switch to the stock camera for video, extra features and hell, sometimes just shooting with it too cause it does have it's pros and cons
My burning question from Canada, which I'm going to repost in several places, is, where are all the video creators getting the Huawei phones now, particularly the P50 Pro? We have a Canadian version of their website, plus access to their original site. They have different options for smartphones but no "BUY" button, link, nor cart. Their Amazon store lists their products but no phones. Other sellers on that site have the P40 Pro at most. But in no way can I purchase them directly. Is the site being neutered by Canadian authorities? Because how are anyone else getting their phones? I'm willing to sacrifice Google functionality for the camera features. Thanks in advance!
Speaking from a Huawei p30 user nobody is gonna choose a p50 over a iPhone 13 Pro or s22. I mean you're really gonna have to be different type of person to choose a p50 Pro over a 13 or s22 not to mention not many apps no Instagram tiktok Snapchat Facebook etc available for p50
UGH again curved display =_= Espect this to CRACK with the first fall on concrete tiles like it happened twice already to my P30 Pro which is identical to this in terms of design, minus the new cameras. Curved display means that no matter how good your phone case is, its not going to cover the curved areas which will still be exposed in case of a fall. Also curved means that no tempered glass will fit properly and sweat is going to enter below it making your viewing experience rather bad.

My old Huawei p30pro was the best phone I ever owned. Great camera and superb battery life. Now I have switched to the oneplus nord2 and I must say that p30pro was much better. Shame that p50pro doesn't have Google services i would buy it for sure
If you phone clone the old p30 pro on the new p50 it will install google services. Its that easy 😃

nice review as always.. superb looking phone , what a shame with this nonsense with the US restrictions.. no GMS, I would still consider this gorgeous looking phone with great specs.. hopefully the restrictions ease of soon and I can get my hands on a new Huewei
Huawei mobile always my favourite
Back when I bought my P30 Pro I had planned to upgrade to this then the Google ban came😭😭
Huawei top smartphone maker.. i love huawei p50pro..❤
Gutted this doesn't have gms wouldn't pay the price there asking without them happy with my p30 pro atm which can be picked up for bargain prices still think it's better than most current flagships
Just picked one of these up on sale directly from Huawei U.K. for £699. At this price point I can confidently say that this is one of the best phones out there regardless of the lack of 5G and google play. Great build quality, seamless processing and excellent camera quality.
can I get a link to get a good price for it...thx
@@prostaezitis1351Huawei removed the phone (together with the offer) from the Huawei website. Just been gifted a pixel 7 pro though so currently looking at selling mine which is still in mint condition. Let me know if you're interested if you're uk based.

I have the p40 pro (With GMS), and I'm very curious about this phone.
Does work properly ,gmaps? And gmail?
How? Support stopped with the P30. I thought only Honor gets to retain GMS because they're going to Qualcomm chips.

I know Google cuffed their nuts and wouldn't let go , but still ...
This last year I can understand. But 2022 it's a year behind in every single respect.
And the best bit - no google.
Wtf.
$1336 for last year’s model? With no Google services? Hell no
In the UK Huawei are very price sensitive and we get regular great deals that usually include money off along with 2 or 3 freebies and discounts on other Huawei stuff. So ignore the price as I got my P30 Pro for £550 with freebies and two years Spotify. Shame that the US miss out on this due to their anti-China sentiment. Huawei is still my fav Android phone and currently using Mate X20 which is over three years old and still supported (HarmonyOS). No problem with no Google Services, everything works.
@@andyH_England I mean that’s how most brands are priced, no one pays full price for Samsung or Apple. I paid $200 for my girlfriend’s iPhone 13 Pro along with free Apple Music and HBO Max. I also work for the government, there’s definitely a reason why we don’t use Huawei and it isn’t because of “anti-China sentiment”, there’s an actual reason behind it.
And last, I’ve used a P30 Lite for my deployment phone and it was utter crap. It was barely usable at the end of three months.
@@superiortoall22 No one has ever released proof that Huawei are doing what they should not. Would be nice if the US Gov gave us the proof so we can put this to rest? Innocent until proven guilty is a human right and I feel that this needs to be addressed.
Yes, there were exploits but where is the proof that China or Huawei were hacking random users in the UK or US? If exploits were an issue for Gov’s then no smartphone or computer would be safe. This seems scaremongering in the name of politics. We should be not fighting a Cold War but trying to communicate and work together, the Huawei ban will only make things worse and seems a step in the wrong direction.

Just got my P50 Pro Huawei and love it. Huawei made it easy to transfer all data and apps from old phone to my new phone with Huawei's Phone Clone app. Also even Google suites is not pre-installed yet so easy to get those in my new Huawei. I love photography and Huawei's innovation in camera, sensor and software is just amazing. P50 Pro still the best for photography. I love my pics taken from this new Huawei P50 Pro.
Hi there! quick question, how's your battery Life so far I'm currently planning to buy the p50 pro coming from p40 pro but my biggest concern is the battery life. Thank you in advance!
When are we getting the Redmi Note 11S & Note 11pro 5G review ? 😩
Can I get roll for wallpaper,,,sir 😃
What about Google Pay pass?
They gone from no. 1 in china was simply because they were unable to get all those required tech to make enough devices..
well said. Huawei really still thinks they're one of those brands that can charge well over $1000 for a phone, when in reality they're far from that. Huawei is delusional at this point.
Huawei & find x3 pro they have the best camera... But comes to battery huawei is the best
I'm been searching for super free wallpapers HD quality 😄
The new P50 pro is a really solid flagship that I would love to have. Also thanks to GSpace you can use all apps you want.
Google ban on Huawei ruined their sales. Still love my old P30 pro, last Huawei with Google services on it.
where does he get those amazing Wallpapers??? 😭
Wish the US/China spat would get sorted. Have a p40 pro and love it. Hacking GMS onto it is possible, but occasionally breaks due to updates and you have to faff again. Such great hardware, such a massive shame on the software functionality.
Camera comparison, p50 13 max & s21 ultra
i have p30 pro but since huawei have no Google i will go for google phone in my upgrade. such a shame there is no google as p30 was best phone i ever had.
I miss my BlackBerry phones badly. Never fully recovered.
My phone is from 2003 and I paid £18 for it. The lady at the store found it hidden in the corner and it had an inch of dust on the box 😏

Take a shot everytime Spurty says Huawei!
What a GORGEOUS phone!
Your cat has never looked more cute in a photo.
Definitely a good photo-phone.
Because of course, cats are all that matters.
Nice video.
The zoom camera. Perfect.
May I ask if the P50 Pro still retain the useful "Light Painting" modes in their camera that were previously avail on the P40 Pro & P30 Pro?
No Light painting and No hdr mode

Every year, the Huawei logo and other numbers under the camera comes closer to the middle....
I love it.
P60 pro gunna be a beast
I'm still using a P30 Pro, apart from the camera being out of date now, it is still a quick phone and battery is still amazing!
Still using my P30 Pro and it's been a faithful friend! Never kept a phone so long and I'll struggle to part with it, but it's fast becoming outdated in terms of software, faults, bugs etc so will have to throw it in pretty soon.. Trouble is, there's nothing half decent out there to replace it with!!
@@dancampbell6415 What do you mean by an outdated software? Because they ask us to do software updates pretty often right? I also have an p30 pro since 2020 and I absolutely love it. P30 pro was also the first phone I used without buttons on screen. I thought that was pretty cool too.
@@keeks4914 I will take that comment back to a point as I've just had the EMUI 12 update for it and a security patch along with it. I think that'll be the last big update though as it's over 3 years old now.

Not impressed by the camera...All that bells and whistles...
@@KevinEnjoyer I think they switched back to RGGB this year
Gcam port will never be as good as what you have on the pixel device, cos pixel have dedicated image processor for fine-tuning their images and is pretty much optimized to work together. Huawei on the other hand pics are top of league, so who needs ports ?
@@frankieexlr6398 this is precisely the kind of thinking we don't need in the android space, we're fricking android users, not iOS
We have the power to decide when to use the stock camera and when not to, especially since installing gcam doesn't mean your stock camera will just stop working without reason
I use gcam on my S21 Ultra and it greatly helps in rendering textures more naturally and preventing the "oversharpen edges and smoothen textures + denoise" trick samsung does to all of it's photos so they seem tack sharp from a surface viewing. It's not so much an issue with the main or wide sensors though, but with the telephoto,it is very, very noticeable, especially when shooting human or animal subjects
I switch to the stock camera for video, extra features and hell, sometimes just shooting with it too cause it does have it's pros and cons
@@govardhanposina17 Mmmmm. It doesn't seem to have any negative effects, per GSMArena's findings.
Never buy a mobile without Google services. You will face difficulties with governmental applications.

Apple crying in the corner 🤣
I used the p10 for about 9 years,without a single issue,fantastic phones,i bought a p50 ,im telling you i miss google what a shame to a perfect phone.
Why still Huawei is banned from using Google? I mean OPPO which still is a Chinese manufacture can able why Not Huawei
