The mini Innofader pro in the SC500 cuts sharp on both sides. It is not possible to set a different curve. You only can adjust the sharpness on the fader by making changes to the cut in settings in the "settings.txt" file located in the root directory on the USB flash. The smaller the number, the sharper the cut in.
@@PortablismGear Thanks! I just tried that, I have the open set to 1 and the close to .5 (they were in 2 and 1) but I don't notice a difference. Got my sc500 today, child's dream from 90s for scratching any sample I have with my hands is reality now, awesome❤ One question - how does fader mean to work? It feels like it is descrete and only totally offs the sample when moved to far edges, and enables it back in any other position, which feels more like button, than the fader. What am I doing wrong or is it by design?
I already found out it is by design, and even found a way to config edges :) does not make this device worse, was just a bit surprised of usage, expected fader to behave like fader
Are there any plans to add a separate headphone socket for cuing/previewing sounds and beats? How about a high pass setting for the samples and a lowpass setting for the beats/loops?
Would it be possible to build a breakout box for the SC500 with a larger platter, to get the ultra-portability of the 500 but with the option of adding the precision of the 1000 (or perhaps even an even bigger, motorized one)? Obviously one would have to modify the 500 with a breakout connector, but is there some reason this shouldn't work? Would one have to disconnect the on-board platter or could it be done parallel?
When I have my SC1000 MK2 plugged into the wall adapter, it works fine. But when I use a battery brick that delivers 2.4a at 5v, it skips like crazy on the jog wheel. It's like it isn't keeping contact with my fingers on the platter. Is there something wrong with my SC1000?
Remote diagnoses are always difficult and sometimes not 100%. In your case, I suspect that your power bank is not delivering a clean and continuous 2A. This is particularly important for the touch sensitivity of the jog wheel. If there was a fundamental defect, the device would exhibit this behavior with every power source. Make sure that you use the supplied cable and not a long one.
You can reverse the fader. Just follow the innofader instructions if you already have an SC or write us an email after you placed your order. We will do the job. The SC units can not be used with an iPad.

It cuts the sample on both sides. In combination of the jog wheel reverse function hamster style shouldn't be a problem. To scratch reverse you need to recalibrate the innofader and swap A/B.

Thanks for asking. Actually there is a problem with the new batch of the olimex module. The firmware needs changes. Rasteri is already on it and we are looking forward to have them back in stock soon.
The new batches of parts needed to assemble an SC have changed so much in the composition of the hardware that the code needs to be rewritten. As soon as this is done, we will start building new devices for customers again. Unfortunately there is no timeframe for this yet, but you can sign up in the "notify me" field on the product page to receive an email as soon as there is new stock.
@portablism Gear what is the midi functionality on the SC500?? I see on your site it states that the SC500 has "MIDI (Limited)" functionality. What exactly can you do with MIDI on this device? Can you use it as a controller for a DAW?
This looks amazing!! Im thinking about to get one so i can skratch at work🙂. I have a few questions: is audio output strong enought to listen to the session using earphones? Im on hamster switch and left hand on the table. Can i switch the mini inno on hamster? And last one: if i order one,can i return it if i dont like it for some reason? Its hard to buy something like this before i try it. Thank you for the responses guys. Big up for your hard work!
Thanks for asking. Any quality battery (Anker, 4smarts, Varta etc.) with at least 2A output will do the job. It is not an USB-C but micro USB connection. 5.000 mAh and higher is totally enough. With a fully charged 5000 mAh battery you will be able to use the SC over a week. We charge our (10.000 mAh / 3A out) battery which we use daily with the SC every 3rd month.

What exactly do you not understand?
@@PortablismGear Hi.. now I solved most of my questions on the awesome SC500.. But I'm asking.. in which order are samples and beat played, if not random? by file name? by last modification date? also, it seems I can't import wav files, but only MP3... :-/
@@FredC79 by file name. Numbers first (0-xxx) then letters (abcdef...)
Can you reverse the fader ?
The fader cuts on both sides and can be reversed.
Will these ever be in stock? I’ve been looking for months but it’s never in stock.
i am trying to buy one for a year by now. never been lucky to find them available at your store 😞
We are sorry that you missed the last batch 4 days ago. We will restock in the first week of September.
@@PortablismGear even though I had a restock notification set in your store…
The reminder system only reminds the available number of units. For example, if we have 800 subscriptions, but only 50 units of the desired color, you will receive a notification at the 16th restock if you subscribe the notification service. I know that is a long time but first come, first served. The only way to buy one beforehand is for customers to look at the website on the 1st Monday in September.
@@PortablismGear good to know, thank you very much!
How calibration innofader?
wen usbc?
Since usb seems like the primary ‘input’ possibility, how would you recommend integrating this into eurorack?
Last question when i try the hamster function (shift + alt) all it does is restarts the beats track to the beginning and it does not reverse the the sample track,
This is a bug in the newest firmware version 1.7 and will be fixed soon.
I tried ordering on after the restock today and I guess I can’t order it to America?
Thanks for your comment. We ship worldwide. If you want to order for example from the USA you will need to use an internet connection in the USA to get the correct shipping options. Also no VPN connection or Tor browser etc.
Hi. You mention hamster style scratching but on my unit shift and alt only reverses the spinning disc. Is there a way to flip the fader as it shows in the video?
You will need to open the device to calibrate the Innofader. We will provide a video that shows how to do this within the next days.
@@PortablismGear Any update on how to get the Innofader with a hamster setup? I have the device but can't push it to full potential because I scratch the other way! Thanks as always guys.
@@supaflyrmg the fader cuts the sample on both sides. You should normally be able to cut hamster.
@@PortablismGear
Hi guys!
Will you make that video with instruction how to calibrate the Innofader?
Alright, I've found already a recalibration instruction for Mini Innofader Pro.
Here's link:

Superb machine..are you making any more to buy on your store?
Thanks for asking. Actually there is a problem with the new batch of the olimex module. The firmware needs changes. Rasteri is already on it and we are looking forward to have them back in stock soon.
When will these go back into production?
Thanks for asking. The SC500 is available at portablismgear.com
When will these or any of the other models be back in stock?
The new batches of parts needed to assemble an SC have changed so much in the composition of the hardware that the code needs to be rewritten. As soon as this is done, we will start building new devices for customers again. Unfortunately there is no timeframe for this yet, but you can sign up in the "notify me" field on the product page to receive an email as soon as there is new stock.
I’m from mty, mexico and I would love to buy this product
@portablism Gear what is the midi functionality on the SC500?? I see on your site it states that the SC500 has "MIDI (Limited)" functionality. What exactly can you do with MIDI on this device? Can you use it as a controller for a DAW?
NM, saw your response to a similar question in the comments. Are there any plans to support MIDI control in the near future?
Is it normal that the fader only went from on to off at the two ends?
Yes, it's a scratch instrument.
what is the differance between sc500 and sc1000? Is there also any sc500 mk2 or sc1000 mk2, and what is the difference there?
What's the difference between the sc500 and the sc1000 mk2 apart from the size. Does the sc500 have more functions because it has more buttons?
The SC500 has the jog wheel reverse function and a start/stop button for samples.
Does the SC500 run the same firmware as the SC1000?
Yes.
you said 60 bit for the samples... do you mean 16 bit or 64? im confused by the 60 bit part. might be why i dont hear my samples
Can it be used as midi controller?
deseo adquirir uno , como podría comprarlo? soy de Perú.
When will the SC500 be back in stock?
Thanks for asking. The SC500 will be back in stock on Mai 10th. Pre-Order will start earlier.
Where can i buy the full setup?
How many beats is it meant to come with? Mine only had 2...
Hi, thanks for asking. Yeah, these are samples. You can add your own MP3 or WAV files to scratch them.
Can you please recommend a good battery for the SC500? What voltage, usbc wire, and #mah. Thank you.
Does anyone know if the sc500 is also open source?
Or just the 1000... ?
can't find the equivalent github...thanks
Hey portabilism gear, got my sc1000 mk2 a few weeks ago. Really like it, but i have to power it on twice before it actually turns on. Weirdest thing. Whats up w that? Also, where can i find a pdf user manual?
Sounds like a power source issue. Please contact ask@portablismgear.com and write my colleagues what your power source is and what wire you are using. You should also have received a sheet with the unit containing information and a link to a video user guide.
@@PortablismGear will do! Thanks for the reply! I did receive that sheet. Got a power cable (not data) and a wall plug at least 2 amps like it says. Ill see what they say. Thanks again for the info.
im having a hard time getting use to this. any tips on how the lag n all works?
Hi, thanks for your comment. Sounds like a bad power supply. Please contact ask@portablismgear.com and write what power supply and wire your are using. I am sure my team will help in no time solving this.
I can’t seem to get my cue buttons to work. Nothing is happening when I press them no matter where on the sample. I’ve also deleted all of them and tried again. I’ve tried on the installed samples and ones I put on there as well. Could it be a formatting issue on the drive?
Hi, please contact our support ask@portablismgear.com and provide these information: your order number, your power source and screenshots of the usb flash folder content. My colleagues will reply to you during our working times. These kind of issue normally happens when changes has been made to the data structure of the USB flash.
platterenabled option in the scsettings file doesnt do anything. I was trying to get it to default and play even when the platter is not touched but the option between enabled and disabled just does the disabled function. How do I fix this?
Thanks for the feedback. We will forward this to the developer to get this fixed in the next firmware update.
@@PortablismGear found a fix. Any additional "enter" done between the lines of code will mess up the file. for example:
%bullshit stuff
bulllshitvalue=69
%bullshit stuff
bulllshitvalue=69
This part will fuck it up
%bullshit stuff
bulllshitvalue=69
