The "He isn't afraid to kiss me," and then all the kiss scenes got me. Mickey resisted Ian for like 2.5 years. He really tried to act like they were just hooking up but in the end, he fell hard for Ian. He shoves his bad boy image aside when it comes to Ian and making him happy. I absolutely love them as a couple.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Mickey genuinely loves Ian with all his heart. It’s the same with Ian. They love each other more than anything and they trust each other. 🥺
This is the first thing I point to when people want to say "Mickey is a shitty/abusive/asshole boyfriend"... Ian literally told Mickey ONCE what he needed from him and Mickey thought about it and even though he had to finally admit that he was in, or atleast falling in love with Ian... I was going to say another man but honestly I feel like Mickey would have continued his delusions about his sexuality if he hadn't met his true love... Hell, even before the wedding when his dad said "you must really like cocks huh?" Mickey's response was "I sure love one" so I guess Mickey still has that mindset of being in love with ONE man and not MEN... So for Mickey to listen, and actually hear what Ian wanted from him or rather what he had been lacking it and to actually change himself so drastically... hell, I know husbands/wives who can't change the way they put toilet paper in the holder to suit their partner and here we have a man who was raised by a homophobic, abusive, just plain old cunt of a man who FOR IAN not only kissed him in private but then came out in public!
If I had already met a man like Mickey I would've been married a long time ago!

I HATE how every character looked down on mickey, they always said to Ian you could do better or he's better than mickey or mickey would set a match to your life. BUT mickey did everything for ian in nothing but love he came out for him he stood up to his father for him he said the first i love you and kissed him first he even married someone he didn't want to to protect ian he also got put back into prison to be with Ian. every time they "broke up" it was because Ian wanted it and mickey would say okay because he just loved ian so much that only Ian could see it nobody else. But Ian knew Mickey loved him in a way nobody else would and the other characters just ignored it they also ignored how Mickey changed Ians life and Ian changed Mickeys life.
I agree with all of this but the „He married someone to protect Ian“ thing. I think he did this out of fear of his dad and for himself and not for Ian, because Ian clearly didn‘t want him to do that. 🤔 Ian wasn‘t really in danger, but Mickey was and I kinda understand it anyway. Terry is just a nightmare.

I agree & think they were both exactly what the other needed. Mickey needed someone to help him accept himself and someone worth standing up to Terry & Ian needed someone who would love him unconditionally bc of his bipolar. IMO Ian had feelings first, but Mickey has loved Ian more since season 4. While rewatching their scenes I was glad Ian had to fight for Mickey again in season 10 bc Mickey has fought for him for years & always goes back to him even after all the times Ian hurt him.

it isn’t in an episode. it’s a deleted scene from season 9 when mickey is in Mexico and sees someone with a gay jesus shirt and finds out ian is going to prison and that’s just before they got into prison together. if you want to see it search up gallavich season 9 deleted scene :)
