If you stay cool, they are cool. I went there as a mixed race man and everyone were very friendly. Before going somewhere, you should inform yourself about traditions and culture, especially when the country is apart from mass tourism. Reagrding the women, Albanian's from Kosovo went into a terrible war (victim of genocide in 1999) which lead you be more protective.

Something similar happened to me in Germany as a German. I was at a marketplace talking to a girl.
Suddenly, two young men came to my near, but at first, they didn't make eye contact with me or the woman. They just stood smoking about two meters away from us. It felt odd to me since there was no one else around, and I wondered why they had to come so close to us.
After I finished talking to the girl, the two young men started following me. One of them shouted, "Hey, I'm Albanian, and the girl was also Albanian. You can't do something like that. Go to a club and don't talk to Albanian women here."
I found it extremely rude for two men to threaten me like that in my own country. Especially since I didn't even know beforehand that Albania has an Islamic background. Well, now I know.
Well, you could argue that they are guests in Germany, and as such they have no right to impose their values or customs on native Germans, but as a small immigrant community in a foreign country they have a right to protect their community from outsiders, Germans and non-Germans alike.

It has nothing to do with religion. Albanians protect their women fiercely not only from foreigners but from other Albanians, too. Albanians themselves can get killed for harassing a woman or "play" with her for fun. Women and children are considered untouchable in Albanian tradition. You pay with your life. Albanian women are not "a toy for play" like in some other countries, for example, Thailand, and they don't go out sleeping with men like in Western Europe without knowing who was the guy they slept with........
