    Scotty: In many of your videos, when you burn rubber, I get the image of Al Lewis, (Grandpa, from the Munsters) racing around in his Dragula. You exude that same confidence, and demeaner that "Grandpa, from the Munsters" always seemed to have!!! You sure get peoples attention, and that's one thing that makes your videos great, great information, and entertainment value to boot!!!!

    i have the same one it took a 2 tries but now its clean and they last clean about 6 months and the best part is that even though the headlights dont look as polish they stay clean for longer. so all you gotta do is run the kit again and go back to polish. the kit has lasted me about 1 1/2 years. because i use every 6 months

    On my "06 Camry I used some 1500 wet sand paper, hand rubbed out with Maguires compound and sealed it off with some wax. I'm not real confident the wax is a good long lasting seal though, I may try clear coat on it...like someone else suggests. I've also used only toothpaste - on an old Nissan - worked great but wouldn't do anything on my '10 Galant. I think it has to do with the type of plastic used on the assembly. Great Vid. Thanks for all your work Scotty.

    why never to rev up your engine when in neutral or park and why the only time to get the rpm's up is when you're in gear and the motor has torque on it because it's under a load

    I got new headlamp assemblies from rock auto...$45 for the pair including shipping...and kits like these go for $20. Rather than go through the aggravation, I just bought new assemblies.

    Are the kits reusable ? Because surely some people won’t use all of the kit in one go. There looked to be lots of polish , sealant and spray !

    Hi. I have a 2011 subaru Legacy outback with very dim low beam lights.
    The headlight assembly looks clean and in working order, and the electrician said the bulbs are ok.
    He said he can't change them to high power bulbs because they are xenon bulbs. And that I will have to buy a pair of new headlights because the inner lens is darkened...
    They are ridiculously expensive, and I was wondering if anyone here knows a cheaper way to fix this.
    Thanks.

    • @seinfan9

      They don't run as brightly all the time like headlights. They run bright only when braking, and even then, not nearly as bright as headlights because they aren't meant to shine in order for somebody to navigate with like the front ones. The heat from the halogen bulbs is what warps and discolors the plastic.

    This only works if you have an plastic lens, I would rather buy 1000,1500,2000 grit wetsand paper, and use it in that order, then polish the headlight with rubbing (you can buy an polishpad for a electric screwdriver) and then finish with regular car wax :)

  • @gantmj
    @gantmj 7 років тому +5

    That kit is garbage. I had to go to a power sander with up to 2000 grit, and then clear coat with UV protectant, otherwise you'll be right back at it.

    • @anthonysaponaro6318
      @anthonysaponaro6318 7 років тому

      you're going to be right back at it depending on how hot your halogens get and how much you use them . . . . switch to LED's the lenses will stay cleaner longer , there is no fix for UV rays though . . . not that I am aware of

    • @georgestone1485
      @georgestone1485 4 роки тому

      Kit costs 20 Bucks. 2 new headlight assemblies cost 35 bucks, plus they give you 10 - 15 years of clarity, where as buying a kit every 2 or 3 years makes no sense.

    Hey Scotty do a video about all the crazy solution out there like coca cola, oven cleaner, tooth paste, baking soda vinegar, etc.Thanks for the video. So what happened to glass? #@ engineering. Glass you don't have to worry about it.

  • @NorthEastReleafLLC
    @NorthEastReleafLLC 7 років тому +1

    This video isn't to informative should use 400 to 600 grit then 2000 grit wet sand and finish with uv clear coat and switch to led

    To not get faded headlights in the future: on a new car have a technician install 3M Clear Mask. They last at least seven years, only costs $115. Leaves headlights pristine.

    all u guys here are wasting ur time, all you need is a white rag and some off mosquito repellant and in 10 seconds ur done,or get the wipes,even better

    • @tamara7859
      @tamara7859 8 років тому +3

      Wrong, mosquito repellent burns the lens. It tends to melt and all the dust and dirt will be locked into the headlamp.

    Not great advice, any how your videos are always great. Need 500, 800, 3000 grit sand paper then a polish applied with a high speed buffer, like $25 at harbor freight. Then add polish or lens protector every few months to avoid the return of the damage from the elements, you know the oxidation.
