- I used only three colours to paint this Peony. In this video I'll demonstrate how I mixed the watercolour paint to paint the petals.

Love it! I have grown peonies of a similar color to these ones.Your color palette and painting techniques produce a lovely, realistic result! I really love the limited palette idea you chose here. Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I learn from EVERYTHING you do, Loise! Another wonderful lesson.

Hello from Philadelphia, Loise!
I just wanted to point out that your explanations are invaluable. Every time you say what it is you are thinking when you approach a white piece of paper - the tonal values, whether to work wet on wet or wet on dry, whether to add more of a particular color to a mix - these details in your thinking, and saying it, is just brilliant. The big lesson you are giving us is to slow down, think about it for a bit, and then proceed. What a gift you are! Thank you 💕🥀
Thank you very much Mary.
In my free time, I've been soaking up some of your classes on Skillshare. I sit gobsmacked but keen to learn, and felt the need to tell you something you may already know: you're a damn fine teacher Louise. Damn fine. I've spent a lifetime teaching... ballroom dancing (when I was young!), stained glass, hardanger and college English, so I know whereof I speak. You've definitely got the gift. You are very relatable (esp. w/ the bloopers!), and have a sincerity that is engaging. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge; it's genuinely appreciated.
Thank you very much for generous compliment Sharon. It's so appreciated. 🥰
I did water colours for 25+ years, I so enjoyed your video ! I had forgotten how much I missed the whole process. Lovely end painting !Just using the three colours keeps such a clean and clear painting. Can't wait to check out some of your other work !
Love to see and hear you while you paint. You are so gifted and generous with your tutorials. Thank you
Thanks very much Carol.

The colours are pretty and makes the flower look so delicate. Once again, you explained your methods so well! Just stunning. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Beautiful. Great to see the use of just primaries.
The peony was gorgeous but so was that close up piece. I'd love a close up flower series

I’m almost 3 years into w/c painting, and I’m nowhere close to your calibre but I have to say, you’re an inspiration and I truly love to watch you, and am so very impressed with your skills❤️. Love the bloopers btw:). 👍👍

Thanks Sucynne.
What a great video!! Your the best!!
Lovely painting, thank you so much. 💖💖💖
Beautiful Louise♥️♥️♥️
Amazing as usual Louise.
Thank you for your so detailed explanation about colors mixing. I'm creating the color swatch with watercolor for my work but I'm not an artist so I didn't know how the color mixing will develop on drawing or about artist's reflection to find the color from the real object. It's a small video but I learned lots of things. 🙏
Wonderful! Thank you.
Thanks Louise
Peony with mixed colours looks so posh and intelligent
These are fantastic!
Thank you, so much for sharing!
This is wonderful! Thank you so much ❤️
Stunning!
I’m old and cold 😀 absolutely love this.
Lol - Thanks Peggy. 😂
Very nice! You are very talented
Thank you John.
Beautiful !
LOL, that's why I've taken to calling the cold-pressed "NOT" like the Britishes do. Hot, NOT, and rough. I guess it means just, "not" hot-pressed? Well anyway I got a ream of rough which I'm really enjoying! And a 'fat pad' of Bockingford, which isn't even cotton but you can lift phthalo off that stuff. (The shipping cost way more than the 'fat pad'! But I like it! It does strange things, but really being able to lift PY150 or other stainers was really cool.)
Love the peony. I liked the first ones you showed, as well. The production value of your videos is always exquisite (and I'm always so happy to see someone else spraying the tube paint off the brush and onto the palette to spare the paint! I actually tried finger-squeezing a blob of paint off a brush once. Staining, and learned one can get a lovely "allergic reaction" to watercolour pigments, too! Spray bottles are great friends!)
Thank you! That's interesting about the Bockingford paper. I've not tried it. I've only used rough paper once and it was good to paint on. Cold pressed is my favourite though.
It’s beautiful! I just became a patron and I’m gonna start with the goldfish watercolor tomorrow 😃
Awesome! Thank you Petra. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you. So nice. Süper çok güzel
🙏🏽 Thank you
My pleasure. Thanks Jo.
Hi mam iam watching your videos they are amazing and your explanation. Mam for beginners which colours are best.
Hello from another Aussie . Have just started following you and love what and how you go about all of it. Can you tell me the way you transfer the photo to the paper please. I am imagining they're not hand drawn ?
I have a couple of blog posts on that. This is how I make the line drawing www.louisedemasi.com/tips/2023/9/25/how-to-simplify-a-reference-photo and this is how I transfer it to the paper www.louisedemasi.com/tips/2024/9/11/transferring-your-sketch-to-watercolour-paper
Really useful thankyou
U r d best🙏
Love peony! If I were doing peony different color would I dissect petals one time? Then look over whole flower as whole?
Lovely!!! Has anyone told you ..you remind me of Ruby Bentall ? She played a role in Poldark.
Excellent instruction!
My question is this:
When you draw out your image, how do you get keep from getting confused with all of the lines in the flower? It’s confusing to me!
Thank you Becky. It can be confusing. I try to have patience when I draw and paint detailed subjects like this. Because I'm looking for realism, I paint it one petal at a time. I don't paint flowers like this often because I find them a bit tedious.
So patient and gifted. Great talent . I appreciate what you do.
Thanks very much Suzzanne.
wowww your close 100k
Yes- I'm happy about that. Thanks.
That was lovely thank you. One quick question, what was the pencil eraser pen thing you used briefly please? I struggle with precise removal of unwanted pencil lines.
Thanks Richard. This is it here: amzn.to/3F1Myow It's very handy for getting into tight spots.
Wow! How do the pencil marks disappear?
What brand of tube paint are you using?
Beautiful work! So sensitively done. May I ask exactly which of the Rosemary and Co. brushes did you use for this painting? Thanks very much.
Thank you L. I didn't show it in this tutorial but I used my small Rosemary and Co eradicator brush to clean up some of the petals. I should have a link in the description. You see me using my Da Vinci Maestros in this video.
@@LouiseDeMasi Thanks very much for the reply.
Can i know how you sketch flowers ?
Fabulous painting but no comment about removing pencils lignes from original sketch
Расслабимся?🤗
Peony is so difficult to paint, just like roses
Форма цветка развалена ...рисунок так себе
Beautiful!
