The kayak footage caught me offguard. I too fish a BG2 in urban camo with a matching Carlisle predator paddle, and a scotty rod holder mounted in the same spot. Had to do a doubletake!
Great job as usual Tony. I would like to try the new Rapala. The skitterwalk has been excellent for me on redfish. Have you caught any on this new topwater plug?
My experience is that it is difficult to fish while sitting down on a kayak , you are standing in the on the water footage, so it must be that the rod tip needs to be pointing downward toward the water. When sitting, for me at least, the lure often foul hooks the line. Am I correct that rod tip needs to be facing downward? Thanks
original skitter was in 2 sizes 3 1/8 and 4 3/8. the new skitter V is 4 inches, so it's shorter than original long skitter. you should've compared the 2 longer versions, because they are much closer in size. also your twitches with smaller lure were much shorter and faster than the ones with skitter V.
for over a decade ive replaced all of my topwater plugs with oversized double hooks on the rear and occassionally the mid section (It depends on size of plug). When rigged properly they will point upwards as retrieved and also meet a ballance between damaging fish and missing strikes. Plus in terms of hooks, i love the concepts VMC creates but their packaged hook strength on the lures has failed me under tight conditions where i need to pull with 15+lb of pessure to get fish away from structure. Experiment with different ideas. The double hook has a large amount of uses for fishing with artificials. Think outside the box.
lol fr, i mean might as well remove the hooks because fish certainly see that, seriously though, i think split rings are least of concern i would feel safer with split rings tbh, i dont see the instruction for loop knot though

nice underwater footage
Tony as usual a nice video. What type and size inline hook. your not the first person to recommend changing treble to inline.

Is that the gold or olive?
does it have to be a loop knot or can you use snap locks as well?
Snap locks can work too.
Salt Strong alright man thanks
"Long short twitches"
3:06 long short twitches?
ay deadset was about to comment the same thing ahah
What size of vmc inline hooks do you recommend for the skitter V ???
It's the barbs on the treble hooks that do damage just as the inline barbed hook would do. Pinch your BARBS ! BARBLESS
Battle scars lol ,that is just the trebles rubbing against the body of the lure.
Couldn't you just install a split rig instead of using a loop knot?
Yes. But we recommend loop knots because they are less visible to the fish compared to split rings.
Salt Strong. Wow..... seriously..... just wow...... -__- You must be using HUUUUUUUGE split rings lol

@@carterscustomrods lol and in the comment above he says that you can use snap locks instead of loop knot. lol
