I'd love to see her just get to be Batgirl and go around with Spoiler kicking butt haha. Yeah not a fan of what they did to her in birds of prey. It's weird, because I liked the character IN birds of prey, she's good actress, she was funny. But she wasn't Cassandra Cain. She should of just been a regular Original Character
@@UltimateChance well ur wish will be coming true in December. In comics Series titled Batgirls starring Cass & Spoiler as both Batgirls and Babara as their mentor
For me she's easily the best batfam member (aside from Batcow, obviously) is the fact that she came to the no-killing rule completely on her own, before she ever even met Batman. He never had to instill that in her at all.
I wish DC would have invested more into this character. She showed so much growth even in just her initial run. Considering how much her skills should have grown by now she should be one of the most utilized and skilled heroes in the Batfamily. Stephanie Brown is cool but Cass should be on a whole different level than still getting paired off with her on the riff raff missions.
I have to admit that first (beside completely different and forgettable Cassandra Cain in Birds of Prey) I was introduced to and intrigued by this character thanks to her appearance in season 4 of Young Justice. But after that I have checked her comics versions, and she became one of my favourite DC characters (I love Black Orchid in her Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean graphic novel, but less in other interpretations, but Cassandra Cain / Orphan I like in almost everything beside this one live-action). Maybe I have a soft spot for "broken" people with terrible childhood who are trying to overcome it and be "good" or work for the "greater good", yet not being brainwashed to do that (she was manipulated to be something else, but choose a different path). In my opinion, there is something amazing in this DC hero.
Ehh for me i feel like Stephanie can have the mantle as bargirl while cass does her own thing as orphan and Barbara just be oracle she also fit that role better be shes definitely the og batgirl even tho shes not the first batgirl and the most popular and recognizable one imo
Only gripe i have with cass is i wish she didnt go by batgirl as her code name orphan would be much cooler and fit her character arc even tho shes not exactly thay anymore she has a family now but being independent and a loner who can also work with a team works in her character i just want her to have her own identity not be tied to someone else but shes amazing easily one of if not my fav batfamily members
Cassandra Cain imo is the best fighter in DC. She’s better than shiva, her mother who taught her everything, and shiva has made Bruce look like amateur hour. And Richard Dragon has feats, but the chuck dixon feats which might be his strongest feats, are non-canon. So you take 2 of the best fighters in the world out, you’re left with Cain, THE best fighter. Oh and Karate kid doesn’t count really, he’s from the future.
This new format was excellent dude, i love little character deep dives like this. Despite not yet reading any of Cassandra's material you did a great job in showing where she came from, what the core of her journey is, and aspects of her characters that you admired. It can be hard to really get down to the nitty gritty of why you like certain characters but once you gain that clarity they stay a part of you forever, i think you showcased that and will resonate with others who may seek clarity on Cassandra themselves in the future. Also in terms of starting to read Cassandra's Batgirl would you recommend checking out the No Man's Land story first or can you jump right into the Kelly Puckett run?
Thanks. I like doing them too. I'll be doing the same for Laura soon. Kind of going into their past and showing why they mean something to mean. And I'd say no man land is important. Shows how she became batgirl and her past. But you also get that in the run so if dont wanna read the long event that's okay. Kelly Puckett start of the run is a good starting point!
@@UltimateChance That'll be an interesting one. I started reading All New All Different Wolverine last year and liked it but felt i missed out on a ton of character development / getting to know Laura. Making my way through some of the older X-23 runs before i pick that up again.
Another awesome video as per usual, Whitey! 😁👍👍 I truly wish that DC would either finish off re-collecting/re-publishing the rest of Kelly Puckett’s run on the character. Or ideally collecting & reprinting the run in it’s entirety over the course of either 1 or 2 omnibuses. One little nitpick I have about a piece of superhero media involving Cassandra is the blunder that the writers of Young Justice seasons 3 and 4 (I know in the comics she does eventually learn to talk and speak both coherently & fluently) However, even with that being said, it still bothers me that the writers blundered a little when it comes to Cass’s backstory. But, luckily I think they realised their mistake and they’ve since gone back and rectified it. (I’m being deliberately vague in-case either yourself or anyone reading this hasn’t caught up on the show as of yet) Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
Cassandra once ran head-first into a goon's gunfire rather than dodge it because another goon was behind her and would have gotten killed. When she reached the gun, taking all the bullets, she snatched the gun away and called him an idiot before collapsing.
@@UltimateChance I also say she has more in common with Bruce than Barbara. They only thing she has in common with Barbara is they share the mantel as Batgirl. But from the start, both Babs and Bruce admitted that she was the most similar to Batman himself.
That was a major reason. One that Barbara brings up. But due to her and Bruce not communicating after a few events she also jeopardize one of his mission. He was trying to figure out what to do but instead of talking it out he tried having her stand down. But Cass don't play that shit.
i dont care what anyone has to say about batman. his plot and the dark he had to face and endure makes him an epic super hero. Over the years hollywood has dumb down batman and make him to look like a joke. I don't care what anyone says superman is a demon/alien and demons aren't here to help us humans but to do harm and destruction. His plot makes no sense at all while we have batman who has very good plot and over my experiences with seeing the dark side of batman and his story as batman(When bruce became batman) i can still say batman is one of my all time favorites because of the realistic things we got to witness about him. My fav. series at the moment is metal/9nth metal. The reason joker was to never be killed was because of the toxins in his body could destroy a person and for something so human to take over superman, supposedly a strong alien from apparently out of no where, so easily is beyond me. But it is a show nonetheless and i wont babble on. im not a huge fan of DC anymore nor marvel once they started bringing politics into it but the memory of the Batman I use to know has always been my wonder.
Superman is more human then Batman ever will be … hell even Spider-Man ever will be too. This comment is foolish and you don’t understand either character
Barbara gordon had a lot of potential as batgirl, but they thru it down the drain and just made her the sexy girlfriend figure for every single bat family member. Def better as oracle. Big miss out. So i respectfully disagree with u. Cassandra is better as batgirl
YES! I love this character so much. I really wish DC would give her the respect she deserves. Hated how she was portrayed in birds of prey though.

If Dick was Bruce's perfect son.
Cassandra is Bruce's perfect daughter.
Truth
She should absolutely be the next batman
Yesss!
i hate how simplified bruce and cass's relationship has become
id like it to be as complicated as it was before
I also like complications haha
not to mention i feel like a part of why cassandra fights is also fueled in part by guilt. great vid!
Thank you! ☺️
They need to release an omnibus of her run
This is my dream lol
She is the best. I am so happy that she never got a pointless ooc villain arc.
What does OOC mean?
@@multifunfunman3241 in this case I meant: "out of character".
It can also have other meanings like out of context.

Interesting. I actually dislike the name Orphan a lot for her. Batgirl worked much better. But that was before there were 4 of them lol.
I think of "Orphan," as being symbolic, Lady Shiva abandoned her at birth, and Cain was more of a brutal trainer than a father
Or better yet, black bat which is also a killer name
