Show jumping requires and immense relationship between the horse and the rider. and whoever said, that they shoudn't jump every day- love, if that horse was jumping every day, at this height, he wouldn't be able walk. experienced riders care about their horses!!!
For all you people doubting the talents of this horse & rider just think this: A 140lb rider (About so) on top of a 1000-1200lb animal, with a mind of its own. That horse, DID NOT have to jump, but you can CLEARLY tell he wanted to. A good 10 strides away, the horse perked his ears forward, and sped up. He was focused, and checking out at where should he jump and such. That horse is awfully talented, especially being brave enough to go over the jump. And, kudos to the rider as well, for being able to control the horse. After the horse landed, he swings his tail, almost in pride. It's common a lot when a horse is happy, or being a typical stallion/mare. So no, this is NOT abuse, and this horse was more or less willingly to jump this. Congrats to both. Wow. And I think only 1meter is high. Kudos to them
I personally prefer using my leg rather than a whip, but there are times when a whip is needed. I know that sometimes, in racing particularly, the use of a whip looks almost violent. However, the manufacturers of whips understand that when the adrenaline is pumping, you are inclined to use the whip a bit more vigorously than usual. As a result, racing whips especially, the leather has been stuffed with foam so that it does not harm the horse. It is primarily the action that encourages movement.
Whips/ Crops/ Sticks, whatever you want to call them, aren't supposed to hurt the horse. Unless you use it in an ill mannered way. They are supposed to make a sound that urges the horse to get away from it. Of course, there are whips that are made to bring pain along with the sound, and those, in my opinion, should not be used. But a plain stick? That's fine to use. Unless you use it wrong, and I can tell you that I have never seen someone use it in a ill mannered way in the show ring.
As Emma Jakobss already wrote wrote under this is no record. the chilean leutenant Alberto Larraguibel ridding Huaso jumped 2, 47 ms 67 years ago. And Huaso was his second choice
That is an oxymoron. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but if a horse is already so powerful, then surely a "little extra umph" isn't needed. Just an idea, if the whip was banned - like it should be (and you know that, too) then all the horses would be on the same level. The horses, if they really truly enjoyed it, would still jump over such great heights. I said this elsewhere; although he doesn't use the whip in the video, the horse has evidently been whipped before. Hope you're proud. Whip away.
The actual record was set in 1949 by the Chilean Captain Alberto on his horse called Huaso. The jump was 2.47m high, so I don't which record is the one on the video.
while that is true, he still rode it. horses of that athletic ability more often than not are incredibly hot and hard to handle. nick set up the distance for the horse. he encouraged it to go forward, but kept it from becoming disjointed and too strung out. it takes incredible control to get a good distance for a jump of that size. can you get on that horse and jump that jump?
Dont you dare go telling me how i should look after my own horse!? i dont just love them for the riding side, but for the looking after them, the bond you build and simply because of the beauty and majesty of them. when did i ever say i wanted to see a horse being whipped? oh thats right, NEVER. Whips are a horrible thing if you abuse the power of them yes, but if you have been taught to use them then they are fine, they wouldnt be made if they were that bad. yes people abuse it, but i dont. bye

This is Harry and his horse Snowman. There's a entire documentary on this guy.
while that is true, he still rode it. horses of that athletic ability more often than not are incredibly hot and hard to handle. nick set up the distance for the horse. he encouraged it to go forward, but kept it from becoming disjointed and too strung out. it takes incredible control to get a good distance for a jump of that size. can you get on that horse and jump that jump?
This is incredible.
Oh I thought that was Henry on Snowman
The world record is kept by a horse called Huaso and tthe Chilean Army Capyain Larraguibel in Feb 49 when they jump 2.47 mt or 8ft 1.25in.
The fence, despite its height, is actually pretty inviting.
Dont you dare go telling me how i should look after my own horse!? i dont just love them for the riding side, but for the looking after them, the bond you build and simply because of the beauty and majesty of them. when did i ever say i wanted to see a horse being whipped? oh thats right, NEVER. Whips are a horrible thing if you abuse the power of them yes, but if you have been taught to use them then they are fine, they wouldnt be made if they were that bad. yes people abuse it, but i dont. bye
