I've learnt a lot from you honestly I was about thinking of having a parent stock to start hatching my own broiler because of costly broiler here but when I listened to you considering factors to put into construction I relax a bit but noiler hatching is a go for me

Backcrossing F1 with F0 in a diallel cross (in a large population) also with mass selection for specific phenotypic traits is the best method for concentrating the bloodline of the parentstock.
The iteration procedure may take additional 3 to 5 filial generation to establish a genotype that breeds true to it kind.
This is a factual Thesis work that requires great knowledge in PCR, microsatellite DNA, genetic tools.... etc to re-invent the wheel.

Thank you for the lesson Daniel, that makes perfect sense. I bought my Parent Stock as eggs from all over the country and hoping they are all not related but time will tell but I bought my turkey & ducks Live. BTW, back when you made that BSF video i told you I was going to try it and well.. my larvae arrived yesterday and my mealworm stock will arrive this week so I am finally doing it now that it's getting warm here. I was just looking over that video again yesterday to make sure I was setting things up right lol. Always happy to wake up to your videos on Sunday mornings :)

Until about the 1940s or 1950s broiler chickens were almost exclusively white rocks. The current commercial broilers are a 4 way cross with a minority being a 2 way cross. This is mostly because of the time it takes to grow them being less (5 or 6 weeks versus 12-16 weeks), feed conversions being better, and carcass quality improvements (more breast meat). The downsides are 1) taste quality suffers, 2) mortality increases (video mentions a few of these reasons), and raising them is more labor intensive, and AI having to predominantly be used becausetheparentstockare to big to breed naturally. I still use white rocks, or sometimes white rock x white jersey giants, with roosters chosen by focusing on those with the best muscling in the breast. Pasture raised so feed conversions are less important.

I have experimented and have to agree and disagree on some of the things you said.
I had broiler few in my farm and deliberately decided to leave them to see what they will be after 6 months they started laying egg and to my surprise the egg hatched and I got broiler chicks .
Yes broilers are made for meat but if you want to leave them as breeders you should not feed them like the ones you want to slaughter at 6-8 weeks, from fifth week move to grower feed and heir feeds should not always be available with this they will not grow too much that will lead to cardiac death.

Please can we have a full length video lf u can. Explaining about Broiler parent stock breeding. Usually these broilers die b4 they reach breeding period .How can we avoid this?.

You breed birds based on your location, disease tolerances, for meat birds you may want a breed to grows relatively fast and puts on heavy weight, also look at feed. For layers birds, you want high egg laying count. And long life. Etc.. I can help you with info and research fam. 🙏🏾
