Today I finally took out my kalimba that I haven’t played for a year and try out this song. Took me around 2 hours to learn and remember the notes for this songs, but I’ll need more time to really master it and play it with full musicality. Love it so much, thank you April.

I was inspired to buy my own tongue drums after watching April play this melody, but unfortunately, I don’t know how to read music. I was going to find the music sheets for tongue drums for this melody. Does anyone know where I can get the notes.
Anyone know how to tune a Kalimba properly so that the highest D and E tines don't just sound like metal? They are too stiff so there is no nice sound coming from them, i tried tuning every note down but the tines aren't long enough :(
I have the same problem, I tried to retune them but it didn't work... Maybe that's how it's supposed to be?
@@uff403 same to me. i think you are right. or it might be because of the kalimba's brand. mine is not a gecko kalimba lol
@@uff403 I just resigned myself to it sounding more like a "tink" without any ring - it's not so noticable while playing something really - but seems awful when just trying it on its own

I am having a little trouble with this. I can play most of it decently, but at about 1.09 There is a section where you need to hit the two D's together, which are on one side of the Kalimba. I keep hitting the key in the middle and it's driving me insane. Did anyone else have problems with this? If so, how did you overcome it? X

hi hello, i know its late but if you angle your right thumb an use the curvature of you nail to hit only the left side of the lower d key, you should be able to void the middle key 💚

In case one isn't available. Ive found this to help: You can pause, screen shot, and write the notes out (identify them per bar with their letter/number). Practice at your own speed. Repeat short sections over and over again to build muscle memory before moving on. It's the method I used and learned very quickly despite it being a new-to-me instrument.
Anyone know how to get the notes to play it on the kalimba? I don’t have wechat so won’t be able to see it, this music is so beautiful, would love to be able to play it! Looked everywhere for the notes on the kalimba but can’t find it anywhere 😩
I have the same problem. I just got my kalimba and want to learn this song but need to do it slowly in parts and video is just no good for this. I dont have WeChat either.
@@iena7719 honestly - I've got by with it in about 3-4 days just by learning a chunk at a time - and slowing the video down can help. If you REALLY want to learn it you can do it from this. I'm still desperately struggling to get my right thumb to the left side of the kalimba without hitting other notes though,. and being a guy with commensurately large thumbs doesn't help - I've had to buy a nail file :P

Just change the playback speed to 0.75 and you'll get what you need. ;)

At first I thought the same but then when I tried to play I realised the notes are not tuned differently, you can play the entire song on a C major scale :)
