I was lucky enough to get a demo game of 2.0 with Alex Davy at the U.K. Games Expo, where the Euros tournament was held. Not only was it a fun match (a bare Z95 - that I wasn’t expecting to field - very nearly took out Wedge single-handedly!), but the rules, not to mention the new flying of my Z95, YT-1300 & U-Wing, made complete sense and felt much more well-balanced & thematic. I cannot wait for the new version of the game, it’s going to be superb.

It worked but I had to hold my index finger on the back where the notch was. I think FFG should have maneuver table pilot POV cards the size of the upgrade cards instead of on the insert that you have to cut up or make your own cards which some players do. It's easier to see the options imho but this dial works. I understand the color blind blue but green says Go MTFBWY

at 42:03 that is a 1.0 Tie Interceptor dial, not the 1.0 Tie Advanced dial

When 2.0 was 1st released many people were upset over the cost, I personally feel the improvements made more than justifies any additional costs, really looking forward to this release!

SportsBanter 38 I don’t give a crap because I haven’t actually spent anything on the game but I was planning on getting into it
The cost is painful (especially considering what I've already spent!). However, they have improved pretty much every criticism I've ever had about the game. In particular, I am excited about flying the X-wing and E-wing, which were far too stiff and sluggish before. The new B-wing looks rad too. LOVE the new dials and the addition of new actions means that every ship has something cool to do! Even the wretched HWK-290 is now vastly improved.
My biggest concern is that the factions have now been split into too many factions and that you can't mix them. you can no longer mix T-65 X-wings with T-70 X-wings, for example, or First Order ties with Imperial Ties. Thematically, it makes sense. But the new factions are less interesting than the classic ones.
It also saddens me is that the Firespray is now exclusively a Scum ship.
However, this matters a lot less now since the playability of the ships has vastly improved across the board. The Rebels and Imperials in particular have so many awesomely redesigned ships that they don't need the other factions as much since they have so many less worthless pilots and ships.

Yep, the inside (part with all the maneuvers) are the same size. It's just the cover that's bigger to allow for the newer design.

Speaking as a colour blind person, i am very thankful for the green to blue.
I have a quick question about subscriptions, for xwing. Im new to this channel(just subbed btw, good stuff you have) and new to xwing. I wanted to know what exactly is the subscription for? I saw the video about it but did not understand very well. Is it for getting new expansions for the price of the subscription or do i have to pay for each expansion at a discounted price ? That is a mat that FFG has. From what we have seen they use it for displaying, not playing.
Having the points and upgrades tied to online is all well and good until they either discontinue the app or shutdown the servers in the move to 3.0.

Nope, they just recharge once per round.
Yes, you can burn all of your tokens at once if you like.
Does Dengar have to always take a stressful action?
A lot of great changes, but a surprising missed opportunity for color blindness in that they still have green/red on the status tokens. Why not just make the greens blue for consistency and accessibility? I get that someone can memorize the symbols and match to the mechanic... but they had already addressed it on one mechanic... why not the other?
We agree, it does seem strange to fix one thing and not the other. Maybe someone should make a compatible product?
Because while all maneuvers look the same, focus looks nothing like stress?
I'm red green colourblind..
Not an issue when colours are seperate, hurts my eyes when they're near each other on a dial.
Icons are different enough to not care either way though :)
and the dice?
One thing I hope they have fixed in 2.0 is that in 1.0 faction identity also seemed to encompass maneuverability. Most of the imperial ships had 3 evade dice and access to barrel roll and the evade action, where the rebels didn’t have much of either. Scum of course was somewhere in between. It does seem like they have re-distributed barrel roll more evenly, but the Rebels are still flying bricks with few ships seeing evade actions or 3 evade dice. I know Imperial players like to complain about green dice, but when you’re only rolling one, it would be nice to roll two more. At least they nerfed the evade action. Overall it looks good, but I do wish they wouldn’t make maneuverability part of the faction identity.
Therefore Rebels had lots of Hull and Shields (much more then Imperial), 360° spam (much more then Imperial), Astrochmechs, higher PS skills and so on and on and on.....
Iseghaal Higher PS skills... really? You had me agreeing until you mentioned skills and PS and not to mention and so on and so on. The truth is that if a ship has a low agility, it needs high hull and shields. It would be funny to give a ship 1 evade die, then only give it three hull. That would be the fastest combat ever. And by the same argument of faction identity a faction’s identity shouldn’t be 1 evade die ships with a ton of hull and shields. I would think you would be agreeing with me, but your comment seems argumentative. I think we’re actually saying the same thing, but you somehow perceived a slight. People are always so ready to “win” an argument, where The was no argument. 😁
Why shouldn't a faction's identity be lower agility and higher shields/hull, though?
Richie Holsinger Because in all the EU content and movies, the Rebels have more than just one type of fighter. It wouldn’t make sense tactically to have all of one type and for game balance/fun factor, having agility as faction identity is Boring. Or were you just kidding?

hey guys, I had a 2.0 question and I cant find the answer. i know you can spend force tokens essentially as mini focus tokens, but if I have an upgrade card that grants you a force token, are you allowed to use that token to adjust your die roll, or can you only use that token to perform the effect described on the card?
ex:Luke's gunner card says you can spend a force charge to rotate your turret. can I use it to change a focus result to a hit result instead?
Only the pilot force tokens can be used to modify dice.

Right! As far as we know FFG had it made for displays. We have not been able to find it for sale.
The medium ship barrel roll does not make sense thematically. If a ship of that size barrel rolls, I would expect it to end up at a larger distance from the starting point than a small base ship would. I don't understand why we would change the template on its short side...
What if they only flip 180°?
so that engine upgrade card is just for converting a boost from red to white? or it also gives ships without boost a red boost?
Actually, it adds a white boost if you have a red boost. Ships without red boost cannot equip it.
Real curious to see if the Engine Upgrade card art is foreshadowing for either a Vaksai configuration for the Kihraxz or an actual Vaksai ship (yes please!). I'd presume the configuration would give the red boost in that case, and maybe lose something else. If neither of these are true then they're just mean to tease us like that :'(
greeeeeeat. If i want to play this now I will first have to shovel out $150 for all the conversion kits to replace literally EVERYTHING. Since, you know, I have ships for all factions. Joy -_-

Tatical Officer card design has changed, and then maybe the design of the Expert Handling, Engine Upgrade, and cards like that might change as well.
Since the card give you an additional action icon, so you end up with 2 equal actions with different difficulties. I think that's why the design of Tactical Officer card has changed. Will see what happens next

2nd edition seems to make squad building easyer as well, i played around with squads and easily understood what the upgrades and everything does, made it more fun, back in 1st edition the meta and what was good got confusing quick, great job on 2nd edition.

I'm looking to get into x-wing, so is this a new game or do I have to pick up stuff from the first edition?
Darth UA-cam you can do both. Completely mew ships will be coming out, as well as a new Starter set. But if you pick up ships now, you will be able to buy an upgrade kit for each faction.
If you can pick up some ships from 1st edition for a nice price, you can just buy a conversion kit for a faction. If you are not sure yet, or don't wanna invest much yet then just buy the core set when it comes out.

Would someone please ask Mr. Davy to fix the Blinded Pilot card. How can a can the tail gunner not shoot if the pilot is blind? example The ARC -170 the tail gunner is facing the back would he be blind. I think. if a ship has the blinded pilot condition if you have a tail gunner or crew operated secondary facing the back and a ship is in your arc you can fire on said target.

How are you supposed to change all of your stuff?
You need to either purchase the 2.0 version of the ships, or purchase the $50 conversion kit for each faction that you want to convert over (Rebel/Empire/Scum).

These changes seem to improve the game a lot. Two things I'm still curious about:
* what is the Engagement Phase? is this a nw Phase or just a name alteration?
* Alex talked about the characteristics of each faction, but didn't mention the Resistance or the First Order. Are these getting their own faction (I think I read about this somewhere) or are they still part of the Rebel and Empire factions?
Francisco Wagner, 1. The engagement phase is essentially combat. 2. These will have separate conversion kits later, so I guess yes - separate. But we'll see how they implement that.

@@teamcovenant Thank you, and I would love to hear some thoughts about it. Ive on the verge of returning to xwing taking the plunge into 2.0, I was never a competitive player only casual but always loved watching unboxings, tactic talks and batreps on it. The videos made with Alex last year was so fun to watch and full of excitement and joy, then nothing :/
All respect for people enjoying different games, and even growing out of them, but I miss it :/

Taking out things like "360 degree firing arcs, that lets you ignore key elements of the game". - Me - Then who ever designed the Luke turret card needs to be let go. . .as in Luke turret = 360 degree firing arc. And now since defense cards have been nerfed (Like auto thrusters), that turret is going be OP. It better cost 100 points. XDDDDD
They also said that force users could very well ignore with key elements of the game.
It costs 30 which is crazy high
ok so now we have more specifics. 1 Luke costs 30 which is insane for the cost. Second its only still 1 set of dice, honestly by design its a more newbie friendly card since more experienced and competitive players would rather roll the X2 with Veteran Turret Gunner or Bistan for the rebels since thats more damage on the board and is more consistent, so long as you plan ahead though again the turrets are going to be good for zoning.
Lastly while you can use it, you cannot check range before using it and it costs a force to use it, and with how you have to commit to actions if you guess wrong and they are outside of your arc or range its wasted.

So, you changed green maneuvers to blue maneuvers b/c of colour blindness, but you kept green tokens? Really?
but the green tokens and dice have unique icons on them the arrows on the dial not so much so even if you are color blind you can still tell what a token does even if it green.

well, i guess the Shapes of the Tokens takes care of that........ so it could be they were just addressing the movements in regards to CB people...... they can always use the shapes to signify, but...... is there a difference between Red and Yellow? cuz those yellow tokens vs red tokens might present an issue? hmmm, the plot thickens! haha

Player version 1 for years, quite it when the problems became more and more obvious. Xwing 2.0 seams to address and fix everyone... Dam you Fantasy Fight, now i am buying it again.
I know you already spent a lot of $$ on your ships, but now you will have to spend even more for ships you already bought in order to play the new rules! I hate it when companies do this.
