When you feel like you have the gist of pvz2, you should try a mod for the game called Eclise.The Eclise mod has no microtransactions and lets you earn all of the plants for just beating levels, but is a lot harder and mechanically challenging,(there are many many mechanics in pvz2 to come). Keep having fun playing!

I’m one of the people who likes PVZ2 more than PVZ1, first off there’s waaaaaaaaay more stuff in PVZ2 and also the time travel concept PVZ2 has is really cool, the only problem I have is that PVZ2 is waaaaaaaaaay harder
you actually are not even close to 100% on pvz 1, you still have to beat the entire adventure again for the golden sunflower trophy, buy the wisdom tree and max it out to its max height and play all the minigames
