@@C4DeadCharge lol... it does have photorealistic art style but it ain't looking real life. I can tell you a lot of flaws in the image processing that gives it away.
Fun fact. The fog was added to the original game because PS1 couldn't handle the render distance. It was so popular and made the game much more terrifying (because you could hear the monsters but you couldn't see them) that it later became a core element of the games.
It is, imo it's a central character to the game. But this is still a very cool and interesting video though. Not an argument that the fog should be removed.
Hmm putting a grainy filter and slightly going orange, its surprisingly looking like real life abandoned town or run down town would be or a Jacob’s Ladder set.
The town with no fog reminds me a lot of the Silent Hills Playable teaser's ending when the main character walks leaves the building and we get a glimpse of the town outside during the night.
Waiting for that one hater / troll to say that Silent Hill 1 and Resident Evil 2 PS1 looks better than this remake. But, to be fair, Bloober team did an outstanding job. The environment looks absolutely perfect!
They should have given a fog slider that goes from 0 to 100 where 0 is no fog, 50% is the remake standard 70% is original sh2 standard and above that is literally an incredible foggy day where you can only see 1 meter around you when you reach 100%
This would really be a great map for BodyCam, it literally looks like real life. It would be so preasuring thinking that you might get ambushed in an alley.
Без тумана, Вся атмосфера теряется! Но зато теперь можно увидеть город без него, и тем у кого игра куплена на Pc смогут узнать как она работает без тумана и насколько хорошо.
Game needs a "No Fog Mode" *AFTER you complete a 1st playthrough* of the game, so you can actually see everything and appreciate the new detail and art even more.
With the fog present, I dread not knowing what lies beyond every 5 metres. Without the fog, I constantly feel alone and vulnerable, seeing all the deserted buildings around me, as far as the eye can see. Both are great for playing the game. 😄
It's truly a testament on how good the Unreal engine 5 is. Usually, lighting up horror videogames tends to put on the spotlight all of the imperfections the darkness is trying to hide, but with this game, it still looks really really good.
on second thought though. they should probably add that officially as an options toggle. i would even pay extra for that, maybe it could come with the Maria DLC. I think it would be a good business decision for them too.
Does the performance actually decrease when the fog is turned off? As I know it's believed the fog decreases performance in this game compared to the opposite in the original games
Não entendi… TLOUS tu vê a melhora absurda em todo cenário no Remake… agora aqui, não teve “melhora” alguma no visual, praticamente a mesma imagem, mas, sem a névoa!! 🤔🤔
Not gonna lie, Silent Hill looks like a comfortable town to live in, if there were no satanic cults and old gods living in there
Within the lore of the game it is a tourist city so it makes sense
satanic cults and old gods ? All the made up Abrahamic cults? The desert one or the once who nailed someone.
@@LuisFer_sac then why it become deserted when every main character of SH games visit Silent Hill ?
just see it form Laura's pov

It legit looks like real life. Bloober did a great job
still has a long way til real life = ))
it legit doesn't. Still a long way to reach that level.
@@sermerlin1 It’s pretty photorealistic. You’re 100% lying to yourself
@@C4DeadCharge lol... it does have photorealistic art style but it ain't looking real life. I can tell you a lot of flaws in the image processing that gives it away.
???? Are you high, Bloober could have made the game look so much better.
Graphics are so realistic tho, looks like an actual photo
Came for no fog, stayed for the music
Fun fact. The fog was added to the original game because PS1 couldn't handle the render distance. It was so popular and made the game much more terrifying (because you could hear the monsters but you couldn't see them) that it later became a core element of the games.
Limitations can really encourage creativity.
I can’t wait to see the sunny mod
they made sunny mod already :DD
Sunny mod already exist
it exists, IGN made an entire article about it.
Removing Silent Hill’s fog is like removing a core character from the series
Exatamente
El chavo del 8 without don ramon be like:
Shift genre too
From psychological horror into post apocalypse
It is, imo it's a central character to the game. But this is still a very cool and interesting video though. Not an argument that the fog should be removed.
It’s still so creepy
The fog is really a character of its own
Hmm putting a grainy filter and slightly going orange, its surprisingly looking like real life abandoned town or run down town would be or a Jacob’s Ladder set.
That's a great idea for a mod that reminds Jacob's Ladder. I definitely would play the game with it.
The town with no fog reminds me a lot of the Silent Hills Playable teaser's ending when the main character walks leaves the building and we get a glimpse of the town outside during the night.
is there a mod to "normalize" the town? like, no monsters and no creepy anything. that way we see James as just a psychopath
xd
Actually, there's already a mod that removes the fog and makes the day sunny
You just basically described what Postal 2 is essentially lol. A crazy dude in a normal small town.
Psychopath?
Ya mean loneliness.
Psychopath makes 0 sense.
so i am not alone who just want to explore town without enemies enjoy the silence town

Thats actually a sick idea. Now I want to play another playthrough with 100% fog
kinda conflicts with the mechanic where in certain segments there's significantly more fog and more enemies and it's more windy though
You can bet someone will mod that eventually
What a dumb idea 😅
Mods❤❤❤❤
This would really be a great map for BodyCam, it literally looks like real life. It would be so preasuring thinking that you might get ambushed in an alley.
It really shows how amazing that fog is
But it really doesn't though, there should have been a lot more fog and it should have been a lot thicker too, the fog in the remake is far too light.
@@DeadEndScreamer yeah I actually agree with you fully
See the problem was that you got your town set to "Evil".
This only makes the fog tech even MORE impressive looking, thanks for this!
Silent Hill without fog is just a normal day in UK...
This games is nothing without fog, fog makes game attractive
God, how atmospheric and realistic, it's wonderful!
Woah, goes to show how much the fog adds to the ambience. Without it, I can see why Mary loved the place.
Silent hill without fog is like PB & J without the J.
Perhaps this is what Silent Hill looks in Laura's mind.

Crazy how it looks more real without the fog
Game needs a "No Fog Mode" *AFTER you complete a 1st playthrough* of the game, so you can actually see everything and appreciate the new detail and art even more.
Don't think it works as a mode since you can see all the bits that were just clearly not modeled without the fog. Just looks unfinished at that point
the fully RT Global Ilumination is what makes it look so real (even if its also what tanks performance).
With the fog present, I dread not knowing what lies beyond every 5 metres.
Without the fog, I constantly feel alone and vulnerable, seeing all the deserted buildings around me, as far as the eye can see.
Both are great for playing the game. 😄
Man ngl, without the fog it looks super great, but it also removes the mystery of not knowing what you will find.
If you could make the skybox just a blue sky this would just be a pretty nice little town
How Mary remembered how beautiful Silent Hill was. It indeed was their special place after all...
It is. Unreal. How good this looks.
Looks great
It's truly a testament on how good the Unreal engine 5 is. Usually, lighting up horror videogames tends to put on the spotlight all of the imperfections the darkness is trying to hide, but with this game, it still looks really really good.
I feel bad for the programmers who had to design everything just to have it blocked by fog effect 😢
They got paid. Don't worry about it
The programmers probably designed it around the fog.
That lumen really makes environments look photo real
Must be painful to sacrifice all the beautiful details and cover those with fog. Yet the devs did it for the core theme of the game. Great work.
Honestly, there should like a cheat mode option to toggle the fog off after completing the game. The game still looks good without it. lol
I like the no fog because the fog hides a lot of detail - actually makes it more creepy as you can see how dilapitated everything is .
Having grown up in a pretty bad neighborhood it just looks like a slum without the fog. Not creepy at all.
Now we need a reconstruction mod where it fix and renovate all the abandoned buildings and make silent hill look like a normal city
The original Silent Hill 2 when you remove the fog becomes very scary
cant wait for the OG Camera Mode MOD
on second thought though. they should probably add that officially as an options toggle. i would even pay extra for that, maybe it could come with the Maria DLC.
I think it would be a good business decision for them too.
Without the fog, there appears to be no depth of field, and the sky looks overexposed. It’s too bright. 😁👍
Does the performance actually decrease when the fog is turned off? As I know it's believed the fog decreases performance in this game compared to the opposite in the original games
You took out the mist but the sky is still the same.
It should be clear blue and sunny

I’ve always felt that the distribution of fog in the game is illogical; it rather seems like cold air leaking from an improperly closed refrigerator.
Ya no shit it's illogical. Did you think silent hill was about a natural disaster or something?
Imagine a mod that change the monters into scared humans...

It's cool, I play without fog, the game has become much more enjoyable, the fps has increased, let the clumsy developers themselves play in the fog.
