    What a great watch! My husband, 10 yo daughter and myself are going there in couple of weeks! And then to Ko Libong and Lanta! Looking forward to seeing your video from Lanta! Greetings from Ely Cambridgeshire xx

      Thank you - we only stayed on Koh Lanta for two nights - it was really nice either way a more laid back vibe. We were pushing north at the time. We stayed on long beach which had the most beautiful sunsets 🌅 hope you have a great trip - we are loving our travels

    Fabulous video, all looks amazing ! 😊
    I am not a great swimmer but my husband & I have always snorkeling together in some amazing places, it's been very special for us prior to his sightless, though we still snorkel hand in hand and enjoy the experience.
    Loving watching your Thai adventure developing, you are a great team 👍 x

      Thanks for these lovely words Allison- we are glad it brings back some nice memories. I think I am a bit keener than Jackie on the snorkelling, but once she is in and surrounded by the sea life (particularly the turtles- see a future episode for this one😉), she loves it.
      Glad that you are enjoying what we are doing, we are loving life out of a backpack👍

    Budgie smugglers and matching sunglasses - I don’t know where to start! Seriously, it’s great to see you both relaxing a bit and having fun. Thanks for the video as always

      Glad that you like the content😂
      We thought that Budgy's would be more common round here due to the Aussie influence (they are an Aussie company/religion after all). Unfortunately it seems I am a sole follower of the Budgy Smuggler movement of "free the thighs". Never mind- always happy to be a leader rather than a follower😂 These young Instagram influencers just look on in envy😂
      On the sunglasses front, Jackie is loving the matching look...just trying to convince her to get a budgy 2 piece😉
      Thanks as always for your support👍

      Many thanks you two. Richard really loved having a play with underwater filming. It's pretty difficult, so a lot of footage was left on the cutting room floor😂

      Thank you - it has been pretty fab so far 🏝️ we really enjoyed Koh Lipe and liked the fact it is a small island that you walk everywhere - even between the beaches- one of our favourites so far 🎒😊

    Koh Lipe was the most polluted, most crowded place at our whole Thailand trip this year. I wish i had been there 20 years ago. Thanks for sharing your experiences 👍

    • @earlyretirementwanderlust
      @earlyretirementwanderlust  14 днів тому

      Ohhh- sorry that you had that experience. We have found on a lot of the islands if you scratch below the surface there is some real poverty. The time of year, most beaches were kept clean every day by the resorts that have a vested interest in the quality of the beaches. Ironically, one of the top spots for sunset watching was the worst that we found- right next to a really exclusive resort.
      The crowds weren't too bad at this time of year, as you can see from the footage. We think the island was just waking up for the high season of Dec onwards.
      Thanks for the comment👍

      I have never snorkelled before and was a little worried as a couple of the stop offs were quite deep but it was fantastic. The water was so clear and the fish so vibrantly coloured 🐟🐠🐡

    Ahhh beautiful place to be and the snorkelling looks amazing. I remember the vibrant colours on the coral reef looking almost artificial they were so bright. Really loving this series of videos, look forward to each instalment, keep them coming ❤

    • @earlyretirementwanderlust
      @earlyretirementwanderlust  17 днів тому +1

      Thanks Adam, we are really glad that we gave it ago. It was definitely worth taking the boat trip as some of the spots they dropped us at were unreal. It is almost Alien like down amongst the corral. We loved the fish, but in some ways, the vibrant corral was even more impressive.
      Cannot wait to do some more when we get the chance.
      We are glad that you are enjoying what we do.
      Have a great week👍

    Hi guys, great video thank you. Will you be doing any numbers videos, or slots, where you talk about your budget for the 7 weeks, including what you've been spending each day/week/month etc..? Us wannabe future slow travellers would hugely benefit from knowing what things are costing eg transport, accommodation, groceries, eating out, drinks, entertainment etc.. Thank you :)

    • @earlyretirementwanderlust
      @earlyretirementwanderlust  14 днів тому +1

      Thanks for this Ian- yes we will. Next Thursday we should be releasing an interim review of the budget after 1 month on the road. Jackie is loving the tracking of it all. Should be an interesting one. Watch this space👍
      Have a good one👍

    We really enjoyed this video, it was good to see you slowing down just a little bit! You’re not quite yet on ‘Island time’ haha but it’ll gradually seep into you both. Your first impressions reminded me of my first time in the South Pacific, that feeling of WOW 🤩 so it was lovely to see you experiencing that. On our travels we always apply a kind of weekend feature so 5/2 where we spend 2 days in every 7 simply hanging out as if it were a weekend then off we go again. It helps us to avoid travel exhaustion on our 3 month trips. Thank you for the 12Go Asia tip which I’ve downloaded ❤

    • @earlyretirementwanderlust
      @earlyretirementwanderlust  17 днів тому +1

      Thanks for this Bonnie- great suggestion about the 5/2 idea. It sounds a really good way of keeping ourselves fresh. We will definitely build this into our planning for the remainder of the trip.
      We are getting better at saying no to visits, as they will always be here when we visit again. We cannot (and would not want to) do everything in one trip.
      Glad that you like the 12GoAsia app- we have used it a few times since and it has not let us down yet. We have booked all our ferries on there, as well as a long distance bus for tomorrow😬
      Have a good week👍

    Wow that all looks like paradise and such a fabulous snorkelling trip . You both look brown and very fit , do you keep to a fitness schedules at all ? walking is always going to keep you fit though. We are confident now that we can navigate the trains etc thank you for your content , keep enjoying everything.

    • @earlyretirementwanderlust
      @earlyretirementwanderlust  17 днів тому

      Thank you Diane - Koh Lipe has been one of our favourite places so far - it is known as the Maldives of Thailand. Our main source of exercise is walking and hiking - but we do set our selves little fitness challenges when we are home which do make a difference. When is your trip? Where else do you have planned beyond Bangkok?

    • @dianed2919
      @dianed2919 17 днів тому

      Trip starts in 50 days and counting !
      Bangkok , Chiang mai , Phuket town , Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang , back to Ho chi Min then Home .
      I’m planning on taking my exercise bands so hopefully keep up with our fitness .
      Quite an action packed trip , but it will be our only outing next year , enjoying your blogs very much , have a safe trip to next destination 👌

      Thanks - we actually are missing Nelson - it is easier taking your home away from home everywhere with you- you know what you have got - some of the accommodations we have booked are a little rustic 🤣 but we are really enjoying the challenge of getting ourselves around using public transport with just our backpacks 🎒
