Re: convertible Z06. - I contacted AMT who make the clear cover for the C8 convertible if they were working on one for the Z06 convertible. AMT assured me the same cover will fit the Z06! If you think about it, it makes sense. Corvette would have to have to two different hatches, 2 different convertible tonneaus, etc. so stay smart, get aZ06 convertible.

As for the E-Ray and adaptive cruise; if the Corvette team wants to add adaptive cruise they can put all the needed sensors up in the rear-view mirror housing as many cars do. With respect to that steering wheel button; I disagree with your guess as there is no need for a front collision warning button. I think a regen toggle for levels of regenerative braking is much more likely.

The E-Ray is a hybrid, not a full-on electric. It still has an engine but when stationary it can draw power from its battery pack to keep environmental (AC, heat) and lights alive without the engine running. That was an easy decision for GM to make.

I jumped 45 Reservation Spots today from a big ZO6 MSRP Dealership. For several weeks, I had not moved any spots. Another person advised me that dealership had received 45 allocations. You probably know the #1 or #2 dealership in the Northeast. Things for them I believe had been silent until Monday! Wow, I’m now around 1570 on their ZO6 list. Can they continue to get 45 allocations per month? Rick: Any truth to a rumor/statement that; The ZO6 Production Run will end in 2023? Then, The Lousy Start/Stop Function is coming? There is a RIGHT FOR CORVETTES TO “RUMBLE”& BE “CAMMED UP AT STOP LIGHTS & STOP SIGNS”. That’s part of the fun to have that lovely exhaust note from the NPP or aftermarket exhaust. (I’ve always enjoyed it?)
Why is GM even talking about E-ray when there are thousands of people waiting on Z06, which they still don’t have close to figured out, production wise? E-ray will take even more capacity away from Z06, correct? Wow, crazy management of production. The E-ray can wait a year or two. Nobody really wants electric anyway, right?🤷🏻♂️

Thanks Rick! GM abandoning ICE vehicles is a huge mistake. From raw materials to end of car life, EV’s aren’t green. A sports car is supposed to be light and nimble. I figured this conversation was going to be pointed to the dealers charging 10 to 15K above the MSRP on the cars….. my opinion those dealers should lose their allocations as well. Chevy made a statement they would start doing that, but I’m yet to see it happen to any of them

I really want a new zo6, My current zo6 is outstanding I surely, will have my fingers cross to get the new c8 zo6, hopefully it will come true in next few years... but it's crazy market about the corvette right now.
Just started to follow your channel. Great job providing good corvette info. I am a senior citizen who just purchased a 2023 stingray LT3 HTC in rapid blue. It was a factory order where it was decided to not complete the sale. This is my second corvette. The first was a 1989 C4 with glass top. Bought used in early 90’s and sold in 2019 because my late wife had to much difficulty getting in and out. Less than 100 miles on the C8 but already love it. Please keep your content coming.
I'm disappointed in seeing an E-Ray over the Grand Sport. The cargo room in the C8 is a significant reduction over previous generations, and the last thing I would want to do is lose what little space I do have in the frunk. I'm interested in a wide-body C8 with big brakes, but I prefer the LT2 over the LT6.
I can’t see where there will be a substantial market for an electric Corvette right now. Maybe in 40-50 years when the generations that grew up with electric cars will want them. But right now all I can assume it’s to please government regulations. Currently the Z06 will be more green than the E-Ray.

I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the Corvette could be a Suv or an Electric. Corvette in my head is “Muscle Car,” “Go Fast,” and “Corner Fast.”
Personally I feel it'd be a waste of time and money for you to drive the Z06 and to have any benefit to 99.9% of your viewers since the car is pretty much unobtainable. Put that money toward tires for the upcoming track season. Speed Phenom has some excellent track content driving his Z06. Now if you could drive the Z06 at Spring Mountain that would be awesome.
Not to contradict Rick about the Adaptive Cruise Control, but Frontal Collision Warning technology sensors are the same as necessary for ACC, the only difference being some additional software to control throttle and brakes in response to sensor measurements. I’ve never seen a modern FCW system that also did not provide ACC probably because there is little additional cost to add ACC to FCW.
I’m sure the dealer didn’t want to allow Museum Delivery because they would never get their mitts on the car to install up charge items like PPF, Ziebart, other products that cannot be readily removed and for which they can markup/overcharge. This has been one of the dealer tactics to avoid the blow-back on flat-out MSRP markups.

I did the Z51 experience & it was a blast! 3 20 min sessions with a C8 Z51 made me decide to get a Z06 as it will be more raw.
