I own a schertler jam 200 which is quite similar to ACUS. I currently have a Udo Roesner de capo 75 at home to try out, which is very similar to the AER. In person, the Udo is dryer and maybe more "true" sounding but my god, my schertler makes my guitar sound warm, fat and BIG. I definitly vouch for the schertler.
Wow, this answers the question I've been asking myself for days. I'm thinking in getting a Shertler, but for the same price I could get an AER or Da Capo, but my impression, from reviews, is that the Schertler Giulia X, sounds nice, warm, to my ears better than the other two. This is ust from what I gather from watching UA-cam reviews, so it's not that reliable.
@@raulands as someone who uses his amp as his only sound source, I prefer the schertler. The Udo doesn't sound as big and warm but it might be a better amp to use as a monitor. It sure is compact too!
It sounds as though this was recorded on a mobile 'phone's internal mic but it does reveal huge sonic differences. You really ought to try both with your own guitar, mic & whatever else you would plug in before making up your mind. If your budget doesn't stretch to one of these, the £250-£350 range is very competitive, with some very capable models; I'm happy with my Laney A-Duo.
The Acus sounds much better, I think some of the AER owners are wishing they'd bought one lol . I own a schertler unico which sounds very like the Acus. I'm going to buy the Acus and marry it to my unico for a real heavenly sound.
Mark, thanks for this demo! *If* you happen to do another demo with a direct to DAW recording or something along those lines, I'd be very interested. Also, did you have the Colour button active on the AER? I got one two weeks ago and really dig it but find that sometimes the Colour switch gives me high end squealing at gig volume. I'm using a Martin 000-42 with an LR Baggs Anthem installed. The Acus sounds very nice... a tad darker, but if you have the Colour off on the AER I bet they'd sound more similar. Interested to to hear your thoughts on this.
The Acus really does sound amazing but I've had warrantee claims with them and they don't seem very helpful in getting my problem resolved. I used it every day singing on the streets, I wish they could be more like Apple (can't believe I'm saying that) and have amazing customer support.
i saw a guy playing with a Martin on a ACUS ONE FOR STREET amplifier, and i can tell you it did not sound dark at all, it was the clearest i have ever heard a guitar on such small amp! AER is great, but i am thinking of getting an ACUS ( cheaper but also amazing sounding! Was the EQ on both amp neutral? it is true that on this video the AER is much clearer, but i wonder about the EQ possibilities.. cheers.
Yes, I used an AER for several years, live. Never felt I needed more volume. Was reliable, too. I haven't owned an Acus so can vouch for their reliability.
The AER is my own amp and I'm very happy with it BUT if I was replacing it I'd probably go for the ACUS instead. The Acus is very transparent and clear sounding whereas the Aer adds a bit of warmth to the guitar's sound. I really like both amps. I'm sorry I can't give any more detail - It was quite a while ago I did the comparison.
Nice demonstration. I own the Acousticube 2 with a Takamine Sante Fe for the last 18 years. Now my speaker has blow on the bass been looking around and found Acus. They sound deeper and warmer with a nice electro acoustic sound. Your video makes AER sound harsh or was that just the limitation of the mic recording?.
Thanks. The sound will be partly affected by the camera mic. I need to get a decent mic and re-do some of these videos. A lot of it will be the way it sounds with the Godin guitar too.
The AER is my own one (several years old) and it would mark quite easily I suppose but I've not really thought about it. Haven't treated it any differently to other amps. The Acus was a brand new one ordered in for a customer.
I must say that the Acus in this video sounds awful. I have the Acus 5 t and in real life it sounds amazing. I use Sunrise magnetic soundhole Pickups with different guitars.
cmon this acus is either broken or the eq section has been totally neglected (or third option this is a bad model). I tried the smaller one not long ago and it sounded times better than this one.
That amp was brand new so it could just be the fact I used the camera’s mic for this video which gave a different sound to your ears in the room with an amp.
@@onlineguitarteacher still strange cause in this case it should've affected both amps.. what I think it can also be a huge difference between the two. anyway the next week my 6t will be delivered so i can check it :D
i received it, sounds super good. I know what happened with the sound in your video. The bass on the acus is very good. Apparently much better than the aer (have not tried it to say with 100%) so too much bass is picked as muddy by the mic, while aer sounds more clear having less low frequencies. Otherwise acus with some compression and with eq it sounds cristal clear
I play fingerstyle so it's AER for me. Much clearer, warmer and defined.
AER sounds good to my ear👂

the acus sounds much better, but i'm on a desktop with cheap speakers, so hard to tell for sure.
AER❤

Thanks for a great demo Mark. Have you any experience of using either of these two amps with a Fishman Rare Earth Blend pickup ?
Thanks. No, I'm afraid I haven't.
@@onlineguitarteacher Okay - thanks

Hi, Yes, I'll try to do another demo with a direct recording. I think the Colour switch was off (I usually leave it switched off).
Darin Ames I’ve just done a gig with the Aer and noticed that the Colour switch is ON so it probably was for this demo!!
The Acus really does sound amazing but I've had warrantee claims with them and they don't seem very helpful in getting my problem resolved. I used it every day singing on the streets, I wish they could be more like Apple (can't believe I'm saying that) and have amazing customer support.
Sorry to hear that. Hope you get it resolved
Torn between an AER and a Schertler.
Me too, which one did you get ?

Yes, the EQ was set flat on both amps
can this little boxes handle a gig for 100 people?
in terms of loudness, with is more lound? and about reliability?
Yes, I used an AER for several years, live. Never felt I needed more volume. Was reliable, too. I haven't owned an Acus so can vouch for their reliability.
Yes, the AER is my go to amp for almost any gig.
Acus has more knobs so it obviously wins
Good point!
Mark, can you post your opinion of both?

They both sound awful but then, amplified acoustic guitars generally do.
And using a mic to pick up the sound iso a cable?

How do you find looking after a wood finished amp? Both your Amps are wood finish and I see how easy they would mark, chip or dent.
The AER is my own one (several years old) and it would mark quite easily I suppose but I've not really thought about it. Haven't treated it any differently to other amps. The Acus was a brand new one ordered in for a customer.
What was your preference between the two?
Difficult to say. Probably the Acus (which was also cheaper!)
How am i to know which is playing?
The one with the lead plugged into the top is the one being used at any given time.
Ahahahaha have a look!!!!!

Acus sounds much less defined - AER clear winner ... (yes I own one)
yes, it's amazing how different they do sound

Sorry to hear you've had trouble with it. This one hasn't had any issues so far, that I'm aware of (it belongs to a friend).
@@onlineguitarteacher First Time can Happen anyway
Both sound awful
Haha dude. Tried the Acus today in a local shop and you don't have a clue what you are talking about.
I checked it out and the ACUS sounded amazing
