They should find a hollow and put a little fireproof safe with some photos and videos of the rebuild in it and then brick it up! A little time capsule!
I’m glad to hear Dan credit himself with praise. Important when one believes in themselves! It is not bragging when you accomplish something so epic. Proud of Team Chaumont (and your little dogs too!)🎉
The way Nic moves around the site tells me one thing: he is a survivor. Never lets anything be more dangerous than it needs to be, and gets as far away from any danger as possible in pretty much every situation.
COME ON PEOPLE WE ALL NEED TO START GIVING DAN AND THE GUYS A THUMBS UP... IT DOESN'T COST ANYTHING BUT A FRACTION OF A SECOND. HE ALSO NEEDS EVERYONE TO SUBSCRIBE.
@Jayrose59 I don't understand it. His videos are awesome compared to some other stuff that's out there. He can be comical at times. He definitely works his butt off along with the other guys. Out of respect to him and the others everyone should be hitting that thumbs up button. Never know if more people hit that thumbs up button he just might start doing longer videos.
@@Jayrose59 I think it's pretty impressive he's had 216,000 views in 10 hours, I imagine Steph at Chateau Diaries must be at times a tad bit envious of his number of views per video.

Everyone ho looked at the ruin of the chateau 2 years ago and said, "Oh, Dan, how will you ever get a roof on that?" is officially eating g their words today. Congratulations! This is an amazing achievement! Chapeau!
Not done yet--still have to connect the different roofs with the hallway ceiling then build the final 'witches cap' top piece --hopefully built on the ground and lifted up by a crane...on top of the new still to be bricked over, turret
Beautiful work. You're gonna get it done. I was no building experience. Could not figure out how you is going to get a roof on ❤. And you're going to do it.
What an amazing Job!! This roof is a masterpiece. And the man standing on top of it all, on a 3x8 beam, (not going to mention Brians name at all) was insane to see, then he just took a seat up there and enjoyed the view! Dan you are the brains behind this project and deserve most of the credit, and I would like to see a plaque at the front gates telling all the amazing story of how one man had a vision and here it is The Chateau de Chaumont. With before and after pictures!!!
Help!! I just felt what it is like to be soo high with a small shaking footprint!!!! Cool filming guys! Epic job for some newbie builders. We have all done our bit of renovation but filling in the missing links on this one is certainly challenging... well done Dan, Brian and Nick... you are awesome.
Wow Dan, looking at the structure from the top down, it's just amazing when a person realizes how massive it really is! Well done, no easy feat I am sure! ❤
Huge respect!. Momunental project that showed absolutely nobody wanted to tackle. But you put on your big boy's pants and laughed. Psah, I can. Well, you've done it. Huge respect.
Dan, everyone is so proud of your achievement. Such a complicated frame made simpler by your re-think. I presume that the turret is built lower down, then winched into position or you will need sky-hooks.
Day by day, beam by beam, post by post, you, Nick, and Brian are restoring this fabulous structure. It's a privilege to see your work . . . and faith . . . in action. The stuff of dreams.
That's a framing carpenters' dream build. A true piece of artwork. The turret goes on the brickwork, and the large mansard flows a bit wider than the sides. Imagining the side mansards meeting a bit lower on the sides of the larger rear roof. Satisfaction of a beautiful frame will be topped off by connecting the two sides. Then the crowning glory........the spire! Boom....the wow factor.....I can't believe we finished this beautiful framework!
My God, yesterday was almost the hottest day of the week. How these men survive working on the top of this château. Take care boys!!! I took a cold shower every hour. They are my heroes sinds I met Dan last year in the very beginning of his titanic work.

The crowd roars their appreciation. It’s deafening the noise they are making at this feat. But wait there’s more. It’s absolutely outstanding. It’s going to be fabulous. How wonderful Dan Brian and Nick. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Hello Dan, I’ve watched you for years, as you reach momumental targets in the rebuilding of your chateau with such hard work and determination, I hope that you realise how much you must be inspiring others around the world to live their dreams, how ever small they are. Through watching you, Stefanie, the pethericks and Sean, I only want one thing, that is to restore a property in northern France, so that my children can escape the madness of the world now and again. Many thanks for your amazing strength and inspiration.🙏🏻
The progress has been amazing but also the creative engineering with the framing. So amazing to see all this actually happen. No idea how you did it all from your brain and then communicating it to the team - but what a team they are! A huge well done!
Who else was singing mad dogs and English men go out in the midday sun?? I was understanding why the French stop work in August. 😂 Dan your vision through all of this is amazing.
What a way to start the week!!!! Dan, you deserved to be chuffed! We are chuffed too! 👏so proud of you! You couldn't have better assistance on this project than Nic and Brian, together you really are a dream team!
I’m already placing huge sparkling chandelier under the roof. 😄 well done guys! Watching you do things no one believe possible is very motivating and push me do things I was postponing
I am so glad you said you are going to rebuild the turret. Those stones look like a stiff breeze can knock them down. Most people don't realize just how heat sensitive lime is. You can easily make your own lime by heating lime rocks, or shells from the ocean then putting them in water once they are cherry red. Then you are left with raw lime. This is also why we have to use fire bricks, or stones that aren't heat sensitive to build a fireplace or chimney. You are doing a good job. Stay safe.
Suggestion; Build the turret roof on the ground, totally completed with slate tiles, ring attachments for repairs, etc. and then hire a crane to lift it into place. Just a thought.
I’m on my way to California as I’m relocating. My daughter played one of my favorite songs my Tina Turner. “Simply the best”. I thought how appropriate when I watched your video. Thank you Dan and crew.
When you added the bits of frame that look like shark fins I couldn't wait to see how they worked. The end result looks really elegant, especially from the drone shot 😎
