You guys are amazing. I just started biking and I upgraded to stumpjumper from marlin 7 within few weeks after listening to y'all. Thanks for all the honest information
This was quite fun! I enjoyed the video, the debate, and the different points of view. The doughnuts were a nice touch to make it seem like casual talk, though I'm not a fan of chewing and speaking at the same time. I think you have an idea that's worth pursuing!
Right OK guys. You've gotta argue about snacks and energy foods and what you wanna eat/what you should eat as a trail snack on your rides. Jus' a thought..
Okay, it's a really nice bike however it is their first bike and although they make great components I think a lot of people want a brand with more experience and that they can trust more. Hence why hope dropped 2k of the price.
On Gears I find that the Eagle stuff is more finicky than the 11 speed. So unless you have to have that 50t ring grab a 1x11 system and you can just set it and forget it.
I've had that dropper post for about 6 months now and I love it. I'm a gorilla shaped man. Well into Clydesdale territory (Those donuts look delicious BTW), and it has yet to give me any issues. No twisting or any of that bullshit. Still returns at the same speed as the day I got it.
this is popcorn worthy stuff. I can hardly wait 'till you 2 argue about new school geometry. apart from that, I liked the Sentinel pick and Levy's super power to lure all those donuts into his stomach :))))
Cool idea, guys. More please. Kazimer, you might do a bit of research on Maxxis. They are a subsidiary of CST, one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world. They make tires for just about everything and have revenue in the billions. They charge what the charge for bike tires with the Maxxis name because it's the bike industry and people pay. I'll save $120 from that $200 and buy CST branded versions and enjoy a nice after ride meal and beera!
Propain Spindrift (my bike): - Formula Selva fork 180mm - Cane Creek Double Barrel Coil/Air 180mm if you want to upgrade from the standard RS coil/air shock - 100/160mm dropper - Sram gx eagle - 27.5 Stans Notubes Flow mk3 - Formula Cura brakes - 5 diffrent tyres to choose from front and rear This is the exact Setup i have and its just under 3000€. You can get one for 2250€ though. Formula isnt really nown for their forks in MTB but the Selva is definitely able to compete with the big boys (Pike/36) The bike is available in 3 standard configurations plus the free configuration where you have between 2 and 5 choices for EVERY part on the bike.
Thats such bullshit. You can get a very decent entry level full suspension bike for around 1500 - 2000 $. You media people seem so out of touch when it comes to prices.
with 10K? id buy a 3.5k YT Capra shred for my DH/big enduro/bike park bike, then canyon stitched 720 as a 1.9k dirt jumper, then 3k on a canyon Spectral 6 27.5 as my playful trail bike that can go anywhere that I fit faster rolling tires on (and ill probably use as an xc bike too). and then save the 1.6k left on future component replacements/upgrades/kit.
not a fan of commencal because they are heavy AF but eagle + 36 for under 3k? Count me in! YT is also a good choice. overall excellent choices. glad there wasnt any hardtail choices LOL
'Big jump in the end'? Is it that noticeable? It's a 19 % increase in gearing compared to a bit under 17 for the previous gear. Doesn't seem that much of a change. On the other hand, going from 32 to 36 is only a 12 % increase. This means going from 36 to 42 is a larger jump in gearing compared to its previous gear as opposed to going from 42 to 50 compared to 36 to 42. And that larger jump is present on 1x11 drivetrains as well (i.e. the 1x11 drivetrains have an even larger 'granny gear' effect).
In my opinion the best value for money bikes on the market are Propain, radon,yt,vitus,Canyon and nukeproof. For the same money its ridiculous how bad the spec is on big brand name bikes like trek, santa cruz, giant, etc.
I'm with you on this. I've recently gone through most of the specs on large portion of bikes in $2,500 range and Trek, Santa Cruz, Specialized, and Giant are all really pricey for the specs you really get. YT and Canyon both seem really good and actually debating on the two right now. I haven't really found much to steer me away from one and to the other.
Rynur if your choosing between those two id go yt.due to its geometry...iv cycled both and the the capra is a little slacker/confidence enspiring to ride...but you cant go wrong with either bike to be honest..big brand bike are a waste of hard earned cash..
I hate shows that involve manufactured conflict, so I'm glad you didn't fake it--I'm perfectly happy to watch two nice guys agree with each other about stuff--but it's funny, you guys are pretty much on the exact same page--you're even taking the same bus to Mexico!
Really like the concept of the video, but you guys need to get better mics or fix the settings on those you have. The sound of Levy's hands hitting the table was driving me nuts. Along with the background noise picked up and music overlayed there was just too much noise other than the chatting.
I would say GX is good enough for everyone. You dont make any mechnical compromises. Above that you just get more carbon and a tiny bit better feel. I would personally go the aluminum route. Despite lots of people saying your frame is fucked you can still safely ride with a reasonably sized dent in the frame. With carbon thats not possible. Also aluminum doesnt cause the huge ecological issues carbon does.
You cant make a video about that. There are so many diffrent surfaces and riding styles that you cant recommend a tyre to someone else without having been where they ride. Minions and Magic Marries are good though. I use a Magic Marry and an Ibex onza DH
Great spec alu, coming from someone that has a carbon frame and wishes their bike would have come with a 36 instead of 34. Tho I did get it for 30% off
tires are expensive due to some type of regulation, I know car tires doubled at some point in the past decade or two, and not gradually, like overnight
I live in Australia and was visiting some family friends for new year, my family friends own an airfield and had an air firefighter staying over who was canadian/swedish (both) and he said his son does mtb and he had a channel called Pinkbike and im 37% sure this is the correct channel so tell me if one of u guys have a dad who firefights in a helicopter and is in Australia.
Next topic, do I buy a full suspension trail bike in 2018 or wait until the bs with rear hub spacing cools down? I've already got a ok DH bike and a 2018 season pass, and a really nice XC bike... Should I just wait?
Will it make a difference to how you ride? Probably not. Just try a couple out and see which one you like - don't worry about the standards changing so much for now. - Paul
shit I built my own specialized p2 back in 2004 for about $1000 maybe less, I bought a used frame, and a used rear wheel from a local shop tech that rode freeride, and spec'd some disc brakes and a manitou fork that I rode for about 10 years until the bike got ran over by a truck, I replaced the fork and am still riding that hunk of shit My full suspension bike isnt finished yet, I got a sexy white/black Rocky MTN Slayer xsc70 frame on a discount site for $300, I got some white holzfeller cranks, bar, stem, a sram x9 group/ hans dampf tires and a marzochi bomber fork, for about $1200 in it so far, plan on getting some rims built and some brakes next. in total I'll prolly spend about 2000-2400 I cant justify more than that and my road bike is an old Trek 1400 white with red decals I repainted, and color matched wheels, tires, cranks, shoes, look pedals, and helmet and bottle cage and ditched top tube shifters for a shimano brake lever shifters and red bar tape, for about $600 by the time I'm done I'll have three bikes nice enough for me for less than one brand new freeride/park bike
Speaking of the price of bikes & reviewers. It seems to me that industry dudes always get bikes / gear free or at some ridiculous "deal" that's outta touch with the ordinary person. So they're take on stuff is pretty slanted. Anyway, so what are your personal rides & were they industry gifts or steads you spent your own money on?
Did anyone notice how many donuts Mike eats?!
I was about to comment and give him shit about it.
He could have 10 grand in no time by cutting his donuts budget a little. Seems like his favorite wheel diameter is about 3 inches...
What was the final count?
Mike didn't eat any!
he's a machine
Levy just crushed 10,000 calories.
I think if the dude on the right had $10,000 he'd spend it on donuts. My word...
You mean mike levy
3k? $600 hardtail and $2400 of donuts.
😂
id wish for a dollar for every calorie mike had in this video, that way i could get an uno
Man that guy on the right sure does like donuts
Canadians like their donuts
Might as well smoke crack with it. 🖕🏽😂 holy shit
I thought they were sharing them. Didn’t realize he was eating them all himself.
U better hit the trails after eating all those donuts mike.
Veeeery cool concept! Id say the music is just a little dominant, so maybe think about turning the volume down a little thatd be nice
Or just remove the music all together, that'd be good. Otherwise great vid!
YES!!
and give them both a rever microphone!
How could you eat so many doughnuts during one sitting?
200 Dollars of doughnuts
Next topic: Which type of dn is the best?
because doughnuts are delicious and they don't fill you up.
Kalsonic they go straight to your heart
In the form of glucose
I like this! Its definitely different from other bike content on youtube. Also helps viewers see both sides espescially when looking to purchase.
Thanks! Pretty pleased how this came out, so there's going to be more on the way.
I love how Levy is just scarfing down donuts like he's been starved for the past week and Kazimer isn't even looking at them :)
The Diamondback Release 4C is $3K. Carbon, pretty decent spec for the money. I would go with that for all around riding.
it's 3,600k, but I agree that it's a good platform for upgrading. for 3½ grand id want more than NX and Guide Rs though
Levy... preparing for hibernation! Ready for summer and that trip with the leftovers from the $10k
Not a bad idea just a recommendation don’t eat during the video it’s annoying
I recently spent $3K on a bike. I bought a V1 Ripmo NX build. I won a bid on Ebay. It's like new, super stoked.
The Hope HB160. I fail to see how anyone could disagree over the beauty from barnoldswick.
Okay, it's a really nice bike however it is their first bike and although they make great components I think a lot of people want a brand with more experience and that they can trust more. Hence why hope dropped 2k of the price.
Topic suggestion: Bottom Bracket height. How low is too low? What crank length should we use with a given BB height on a "do it all" bike?
Great video. Love this concept, keep it going. Please don't knock the table on the next one though. How about frame material for a future episode.
Love how you guys swear and don't bleep it out it's really funny
Holy crap he just ate 4 donuts and he’s starting on his fifth. I’m impressed
An introvert an an extrovert. The first one's thinking "I can't take him anywhere."
What ever you talk about next, it should end with a real, down in the dirt fight. " First rule of flight club " or a donut eating contest.
When a full set of heavy duty shocks for my truck are cheaper than my seatpost there is a problem.....
On Gears I find that the Eagle stuff is more finicky than the 11 speed. So unless you have to have that 50t ring grab a 1x11 system and you can just set it and forget it.
I’d probably spend around 3-4K on some good donuts.
I don't know if you really offer anything new, but you have nice chemistry and i bet this will be a nice show. I'll be waiting for the next one :)
As someone who just started MTBing on an entry level XC bike I bought used for $200... :(
What would you buy for 200... NOT A BIKE OF COURSE lol
I love how Mike Levy just ate all the donuts throughout the vid. good vid tho :)
I've had that dropper post for about 6 months now and I love it. I'm a gorilla shaped man. Well into Clydesdale territory (Those donuts look delicious BTW), and it has yet to give me any issues. No twisting or any of that bullshit. Still returns at the same speed as the day I got it.
YT Industries has the best deals in the mountain biking industry PERIOD!
$10k? Two bikes for me, thanks.
Cool concept... nice looking donuts too...
Good stuff really enjoyed this one!
this is popcorn worthy stuff. I can hardly wait 'till you 2 argue about new school geometry.
apart from that, I liked the Sentinel pick and Levy's super power to lure all those donuts into his stomach :))))
Don't worry, we filmed that one :) - Paul
Cool idea, guys. More please.

Is carbon worth the extra $'s or is the dollar difference better put into component upgrades?
The background music is WAY too loud! I have tol concentrate hardly to understand, but it‘s still difficult!
I’m thinking of buying a trek fuel ex 9.8 but I like riding gnarly north shore
Looking for strong opinions
YT industries Jeffry 29 AL comp, RS Pike 140mm and ethirteen 500% range and SLX
My thoughts exactly! And only $2249 to boot.
Propain Spindrift (my bike):
- Formula Selva fork 180mm
- Cane Creek Double Barrel Coil/Air 180mm if you want to upgrade from the standard RS coil/air shock
- 100/160mm dropper
- Sram gx eagle
- 27.5 Stans Notubes Flow mk3
- Formula Cura brakes
- 5 diffrent tyres to choose from front and rear
This is the exact Setup i have and its just under 3000€. You can get one for 2250€ though. Formula isnt really nown for their forks in MTB but the Selva is definitely able to compete with the big boys (Pike/36)

"Lets open the video while eating"
Editor- "Fucking brilliant"

What size tire and rim width is best for aggressive all mountain/enduro riding debate.
not a fan of commencal because they are heavy AF but eagle + 36 for under 3k? Count me in! YT is also a good choice. overall excellent choices. glad there wasnt any hardtail choices LOL
@pinkbike what was that thing that he was using to check the colours
Great idea. How about plus size tyres vs say 2.3 or something like that?
I can confirm, the meta 4.2 is amazing!
I could have a real nice Ducati for 10k, or a bike and a decent running car for 10k
How long is too long? How slack is too slack? How low is too low?
Depends on you.
Just picked up Neuron 8.0 carbon w Fox, DT, Sram Eagle GX 12 under $3000. 13.2kg.
mike and mike actually agree on alot
Crushing donuts, Mike! Love it, dude. I'd clean that plate as well.

For $3000, probably would look at something lightly used, like a demo bike. New, I would look at a Ripmo AF or Fuel EX 7.
Best Tim Hortons donut ranked!
3k? stealth black trek fuel ex8 27,5+ or 29er. just like mine :)
ferrarone
2k or less? My YT Jeffsy at clearance pricing. Or, my wife rides a Giant Stance. $1,500.
Ive got a stealth black 2011 Fuel EX8 26er with gold industry nine/stans wheels, absolutely love it
that has to look awesome! wheels are the first big thing i'm gonna upgrade. got 27,5+ now and i'm pretty interested in testing out 29ers on it too
In my opinion the best value for money bikes on the market are Propain, radon,yt,vitus,Canyon and nukeproof. For the same money its ridiculous how bad the spec is on big brand name bikes like trek, santa cruz, giant, etc.

Man this dude is killing those donuts!!!
what bike is the prettiest
This was a cool idea keep em coming!!!
What would be your choices for one set of tires to ride for one year in all conditions, all types of riding and has to be the same set for the year
Magics or HR2s
I hate shows that involve manufactured conflict, so I'm glad you didn't fake it--I'm perfectly happy to watch two nice guys agree with each other about stuff--but it's funny, you guys are pretty much on the exact same page--you're even taking the same bus to Mexico!
Love to see more, don't like the background music. Get rid of that.
Anybody else get a stomach ache watching him eat all those donuts
Boy does it feel good looking over at my capra cf pro.
Flex
Best hardtail for primarily Trails and some Dirt Jumping that's $2000 USD or less?
Mike on my left I like, Mike on my right is just a little to cool for me.
The only reason they should cancel the show is to prevent Mike Levy from getting diabetes...
Great video by the way.
Really like the concept of the video, but you guys need to get better mics or fix the settings on those you have. The sound of Levy's hands hitting the table was driving me nuts. Along with the background noise picked up and music overlayed there was just too much noise other than the chatting.
2017 Norco Torrent HT.... Nuff said. Best $3000 I've ever spent.
Levy is eating all those donuts hahahahahahaha
Long travel air shock vs coil over shock.
Listening to ridiculous electronic music on a loop vs turning that sh*t off.
I like this! Good work fellas.
XO1 or GX Eagle? and aluminum or carbon

I literally just spend 3,2k for my dream Bike (Cube Stereo 170tm) and thought its pretty nice but they make it seem such cheap :D
Can now get a Canyon AL6.0 or a Strive CF6.0 for that money, how times change.
hey i am 6 2 280lbs .whats a good bike for big people?
A stationary one
Which tires for Enduro?
Magic Marys
Rhys Louis or minion dhfs
You cant make a video about that. There are so many diffrent surfaces and riding styles that you cant recommend a tyre to someone else without having been where they ride. Minions and Magic Marries are good though. I use a Magic Marry and an Ibex onza DH
More of this!
Don't cancel the show. 🤘
Kona Process 153 AL 29er for $2,999.
That would be my choice
what about a 5000 euro downhill ebike? it is a do it all bike after all, I´d say the ultimate do it all.
So do you build a great spec Alu bike or an average spec carbon bike (same frame?)
Great spec alu, coming from someone that has a carbon frame and wishes their bike would have come with a 36 instead of 34. Tho I did get it for 30% off
tires are expensive due to some type of regulation, I know car tires doubled at some point in the past decade or two, and not gradually, like overnight

Pls talk aboutbt different suspension brands
No wonder Mike doesn’t like hills
He’s carrying hundreds of donuts
What is with a canyon strive?
Mike......$5000 on bike $5000 on donuts!
what happen to mike vs mike?
Next topic, do I buy a full suspension trail bike in 2018 or wait until the bs with rear hub spacing cools down? I've already got a ok DH bike and a 2018 season pass, and a really nice XC bike... Should I just wait?
Will it make a difference to how you ride? Probably not. Just try a couple out and see which one you like - don't worry about the standards changing so much for now. - Paul
Pinkbike I'm just worried about parts availability, I'm still riding a bike I bought new back in 1989...
Background music disturbs the comprehendability of the talking
That was 6 donuts in a sitting. Better plan to spend that $200 on the next heavier coil spring.
shit I built my own specialized p2 back in 2004 for about $1000 maybe less, I bought a used frame, and a used rear wheel from a local shop tech that rode freeride, and spec'd some disc brakes and a manitou fork that I rode for about 10 years until the bike got ran over by a truck, I replaced the fork and am still riding that hunk of shit
My full suspension bike isnt finished yet, I got a sexy white/black Rocky MTN Slayer xsc70 frame on a discount site for $300, I got some white holzfeller cranks, bar, stem, a sram x9 group/ hans dampf tires and a marzochi bomber fork, for about $1200 in it so far, plan on getting some rims built and some brakes next. in total I'll prolly spend about 2000-2400 I cant justify more than that
and my road bike is an old Trek 1400 white with red decals I repainted, and color matched wheels, tires, cranks, shoes, look pedals, and helmet and bottle cage and ditched top tube shifters for a shimano brake lever shifters and red bar tape, for about $600
by the time I'm done I'll have three bikes nice enough for me for less than one brand new freeride/park bike

Speaking of the price of bikes & reviewers. It seems to me that industry dudes always get bikes / gear free or at some ridiculous "deal" that's outta touch with the ordinary person.
