Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I have bought gold detector but I have not gone out digging gold as yet. It is Sd2000 I think. I had no idea it is very difficult. Should I sell my 2nd hand detector and save buy something more modern and simple such as sdc or ATX? I have no confidence adjusting those settings now.....

G'day Kabaotto, if it's a SD 2000 you've got it does take a bit of getting used to, especially in heavy mineralsied ground. If you plan on upgrading you couldn't go past the Minelab SDC 2300! I wouldn't consider any other brand if you're looking for gold in Australia. Nothing else comes close to performing as well as the SDC and It's so easy to use. The other machines to consider GPX 4500 or the GPX 5000 both are fantastic detectors but do need some adjusting to get the best out of them. The new Minelab Equinox 800 is also performing fantastically well, but once again needs a bit of adjusting. If you're in Victoria you could always come out with us for a training day and try before you buy so to speak. It's a great way to learn about the different detectors and decide what you like the most. Good luck with it all, Mark GPA

G'day Tim, Thank you for your very kind comments. I still learn something new every day, I reckon in your not learning you might as well be dead, as the saying goes. I've been detecting for just on 40 years now and I've still got heaps to learn. I learn a lot from our new chum detectorists who will do something I've never thought about doing before! Ground Balancing I think is the key to good detecting, you can't over balance your machine, most people just don't balance enough. Thanks again for your comments and watching our videos. The next How To Series Isn't far away. Cheers, Mark GPA

G'day again Ivan, wish some of the hot rocks were Meteorites, Unfortunately these are just Iron impregnated rocks. Occasionally we find Meteorites and that's really exciting.
