  • Today we are diving head first into Animal Crossing New Horizons burnout.
We take a look at some of the Animal Crossing community's experiences with burnout in the game, along with some of my personal experiences with it.
This was a different type of video to what I normally make, but I had a lot of fun doing it!

You put everything I've been feeling into words. I think the beginning of the game is the most charming and fun, but since I'm not much of a designer, I play more like a collector by filling in my museum and stuff, but there's no more goals or anything after that 😓

I’m glad you could relate to this video - I feel like sometimes AC burnout is a bit of a taboo topic so it’s nice to see other players feeling the same 🙂 yes, that’s definitely something I am a bit worried about too when I eventually complete my museum etc 😢

Personally I think the game just didn’t have any gameplay after you decorated your town. I’m new leaf, I played for YEARS. A couple thousand hours. New horizons was a couple hundred hours and then I was like okay I made a cool town and now all there is to do is just walk around in an empty town. It took me so long to unlock stuff in new leaf. There was always something rare and interesting to play for. The characters were interesting to talk to everyday and you also had a reason to play considering if you didn’t, they would leave. The town felt so alive so it wasn’t just an empty shell of a game after you customized your island.

The amount of amazingly intricate builds is such a huge contributor to burnout. I didn’t get involved with the acnh online community until ~10 months after I started playing and since then it’s been harder and harder for me to play. I’ll get excited about making my island look nice, then immediately discouraged when it’s not as good

Yeah, I've been burned out too of this game. Maybe it's because I view this game more boring compared to its 3ds counterpart. Maybe because of the lack of activities in the island/town compared to new leaf. I just completely stopped playing new horizons and still plays new leaf from time to time.

This is such an incredible and thought-provoking video. You put into words so many of the same feelings that I've been struggling with myself. I also love how you integrated your research throughout the video. It's given me a lot to think about, so thank you for taking the time to put this together. The pressure to sort of "keep up" with all of the people posting so many innovative builds or unique videos/content definitely gets overwhelming at times.
It's refreshing to hear such a casual, yet still very deep dialogue around these issues and feelings.
Sending you all the best vibes!! 🤗

HEY ALVIN!!!! How are you doing??
Aw thank you so much, your comments always get me in the feels 🥺❤️
I’m glad you could resonate with some of the things I said in this video, it felt a bit daunting putting it together initially… I definitely questioned at times whether to even put it out. So with that being said, again, thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you got something out of it ❤️
I hope you are doing well!

I enjoy acnh much more than acnl.. I do think it’s a much better game, but acnh has so many customization options that it makes it a much more enjoyable game.

I've definitely had multiple times now when I got burned out on ACNH. mostly because the game had so very little content to keep you busy. Once your bug and fishing catalogue begins to fill up and you actively begin hunting towards their completion. you'll start to notice how you only have to catch like 3-4 bugs/fish which would only take you about 5 minutes and you'd be completely done for the next 3 MONTHS. it just leaves you with a lot of blank moments of nothing to do as even just bug hunting and fishing to then sell for money farming aside from the whole Turnip craze which also has the possibility to completely negate any farming at all if you hit it big using a big enough friend circle to help the profit sale margin. My friends pretty much stopped playing ACNH after about the first 4 months or so which left me to complete the game all on my own. so with a ton of extensive breaks I did ultimately end up reaching my version of 100% game completion which is just having my museum completed. which is that at least. but now that that little project is finished I see very little reason to want to return to the game. I kinda wish that they would have added just a single extra STAMP on the Encyclopedia for bugs and Fish. if they could just added a tick for each critter if you have acquired it's statue. that would have made wanting to collect all statues also so much more engaging instead of having to go down your entire catalogue just to find which you already have and which you're missing in the randomized mess of a list.

For me it was boredom that made me quit playing New Horizens infact it's been a year since I last checked on my island.
