  • A little more progress on the issue with my PrismJet 54 (MUTOH 1324x) printer. I ran into what I think caused the issue on the power supply but some of the boards will be sent off to further test if that is the issue. If you even need that service, I used inkjetperformance.com and worked with Ed.

Hey glad to see you back!! Missed your videos and hope you keep the videos going! I work on my old rolands constantly so i hear ya when things go wrong. "All you do all day is Just hit print" that saying kills me from everyone lol

My 1324 went down at the end of last month. Tried a maintenance station that didn't work. So talked to a tech to come and look at it. But it was going to be $215 an hour for drive time to and from and per hour they were here. They assumed it to be my head that was $2000 and they were going to charge approx 3000 plus for the two trips and whatever the hourly rate was. So unfortunately I had to get a new printer, big part of my business. Hope you can get yours going but I do have a parts printer if you are interested in anything.

Parts are not cheap for these and to throw thousands of $$$ into a 5+ year old printer makes no sense IMO. I agree that it's easier and faster to by new it that is what works for you. From what I've heard and read the EPSON printers are the way to go now, still doing more research. Thanks for the offer, all boards are good the head is blown.

Glad to see you throwing out another video! We've been having trouble with our Mimaki CJV30, the print head has a clogged magenta, and for some odd reason it can't seem to do hybrid jobs very well, the darn thing tracks and it'll start out great but by the end of the cut it's off by an 1/8". I'll get ahold of that guy and see if he has a tech here in Indiana. There's nobody around that works on them, and to bring in a Mimaki tech is a minimum of $2,500 (that's just for the diagnostics)...not worth it.

Exactly why when I chose a new printer I went with HP. Latex. I can replace the heads in less than 2 mins for $135.00 per head. And, have the head in the same day or next day.

Hope it turns out to be nothing major... although by now you already know that. Fingers crossed for you. :)

The head is fried, not a easy fix. Thanks for watching.

Do you have a video on how to replace the maintenance station? I picked up vj1324 last year and it hasn’t been used for a year or so. I figure I’ll replace the maintenance station, dampers, and printhead. I found one for $750

I might have some footage I never posted, I think... Same with the dampers but not sure if I still have them but will look.

I’m curious - instead of spending time trying to fix this, would you prefer to spend your valuable time selling and making signs?

I like to learn on how to fix my equipment and not rely on others with bad advise as I've found out. I'm also at the point where I don't have to sell signs as much, I'm still on-line only and don't accept any walk-ins. I have some time on my hands so not a big deal and my extra time is generally spent at the R/C race track.
