A late reply! But, better late than never. Both tirumanjanam and abishekam denotes the same holy bath of the deity... A simple explanation is "tirumanjanam" is a Tamil word for "abishekam (Sanskrit)". Irrespective of Vishnu or Siva, temples where Tamil language has an upper hand over Sanskrit, the terminology for abishekam/mangal snan is "Tirumanjanam". There are various siva temples in Tamil Nadu where the holy bath is still called Tirumanjanam. Hope, this helps...

In Tirumala, the priests who are followers of Swami Ramanuja's Visishtadvaita and consider the Alwars's 4000 divyaprabanda texts more closer to heart use the term Tirumanjanam, while for admin purposes and the ease of understanding of the pilgrims from throughout the country, TTD calls it as "Abishekam". So, the term tirumanjanam is used based only on the predominant language in the temple, irrespective of iyengars or iyers!! Hope, this helps...

This thirumanjanam is performed on every ekadashi day.
Thirumanjanam is for perumal. Iyengars call it thirumanjanam. Abhisekham is for Siva lingam. Iyers call it abhisekham.
thetaurazz so for Tirumala Srinivasa Perumal it would still be Tirumanjanam despite TTD calling it Abhishekam?
