Great tips bro, especially the first 2 - I've been in the studio with rappers who have literally asked for layers to start being removed because they can't hear themselves on it or a lead instrument is messing up the melody in their head. One way you can avoid this is by putting acapella's in while cooking up so you can have the right space in the beat 👍
Bro ure so comfy in your vids in comparison to 1or 2 years ago icl u came a long way one of the best and one of onlyest drill youtube producers out ere 🌵🖤
Thank you Jake for these tips because I feel like I be going to ham on the glides. I’m working on making a version of drill that I call “Vibe Drill”, which focus on more themes and styles from Jazz(Key Changes and exotic chords and scales), synth sounds and ambient soundscapes(downtempo vibes). I’m in Jacksonville, Fl where trap music is king but I love drill beats.
since I'm an artist as well, when I arrive at a certain point in the beat I start flowing on it to check, as you say bro. If I feel lost or too many thing happening I try to make the arrengement different and spread out the things, if this doesn't work I'll remove some stuff. It's harder for producers to tell when it's too busy or not, sometimes we may feel like it's boring, but an artist adds another "instrument" with his voice and flow so we have to keep in mind that; great video as always man🫶🏻
Fewer melodies were a great insight......i could have almost 5 melodies doing their own thing..... That first tip is something I should really apply... Thanks Jay🌵
My boyyy Cactus another banger bro this one was sick. Thanks for the details on the plug-ins effects and what you’re trying to achieve when using them. That helps the most
WOW man, BIG UP Jay Cactus for this one here! Good lookin out on providing so much production game from start to finish. Brilliant content, my good man @JayCactusTV.
i wanted to click the subscribe button right now but then realized i did it a long time ago ... Greetings from poland! You are doing a really amazing job
Can you put this one on Spotify? I love this one! Great tips bro, you helped me a lot! I’m making beats for artists now but they all asked for things like layering and not too busy and stuff… thanks a LOT!!!
Could you share all the plugins you use on the master channel and on the individual busses in a future video ? We could learn from seeing all the levels and all the plugin chains in a finished beat. Thanks !
This video is very useful, I have to say that I’m sometimes going to crazy with the 808 and I don’t always like the final result. And now I gonna use the accapela trick it seems incredible ! And last thing did u use for the drums ur Drumkit Greeze or another one because I am really interested about the kick you used ! Ty and keep going I love your content 🔥🔥🔥💯💯
Some artists do care about the techniques, as an artist, producer and engineer I respect all the tricks etc but there is a sweet spot for any artist The artist is supposed to be the main focal point unless of course it’s production heavy genres like DnB etc So use them sparingly, get mad in bridges or outros etc they’re good places to show off a but
Good point you make. I love making many instrumental melodies - and then when it comes to mixing, my vocals clash with the instruments. I need to space out my elements properly for sonic clarity and easier mixing.
@@artistic-wordplay just duck the instruments at your presence and fundamental Dynamic EQ works best Not to mention having them sit at the sides, back in the mix, lower etc Dunno if I understood your comment properly but
Get the drums I used in this video! jaycactus.com/collections/all-sample-packs/products/the-vault-drum-kit

Yeah, the acapellas serve as a guide - a rough sketch over which to draw perfectly.

It be hard af when he gets done with the 808, let’s it play out then does the kick when the loop restarts 🔥🔥🔥
