- BG118 - How to use simple, easy to find, products to polish your turntable platter, either by hand or machine. Both are shown in this video. Demonstrated on an AR The Turntable and a Micro Seiki BL-91.
What is with the negative comments? This is good information for people like me who don't already know the answers. Not every video needs to be super in-depth. Keep the videos coming Mark!
Jake Austin his info is great,Also one great repairman for all those vintage recievers,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Jake Austin I agree with you hes good guy👍🏻
The various grades of Novus plastic polish work well too: from heavy removal to nice final polish. Thanks for this.
Indeed. I use the Novus products on clear tops.
That Micro-Seiki is beautiful.
beautiful work and super beautiful turntable!!!!
Mother's Mag Polish. Works a charm.
I use brasso on mine and it does a real good job at shining my platter
Duraglit wadding produces a brilliant finish
Very helpful. Thanks
Bro thank you so much 🇬🇧👌
Does it make sense to apply some clear lack on top to protect it? I also think matter would probably look good just as well, if not better.
The plinth of your AR turntable looks rather glossy. Were there coats of varnishes be applied on? What kind of cleaner do you recommend for cleaning the wood part?
I've always used Mothers for aluminum.Seems to work great
Used Mother's on my Thorens. Took only a few minutes with a few paper towels.
Is there a problem with using wax on a surface which contacts the drive belt? Great info here, thanks!
Never had an issue.
Hi Mark, can you tell me what are the black joint things you use on your test bench for holding the shelves together? And what are you using for the shelving, looks like 2x4's from the photo. Thanks!
Look up "2x4 basics" very neat stuff, works great. I have used tons of it.
You can use Aluminium Varnish when finishing polish.
I use Peek polish on my Thorens platter.
Also Dupont No 4 polish :)
Why is there a need to “polish” the plater?🤔
i use sand paper and somtimes a angle grinder on my amstrad table
Everybody is going this the hard way. All of this is unnecessary. Just get Mothers mag and aluminum polish. You can get a beautiful shine in 5 to 10 minutes with just a few paper towels. This is made for engine parts and mag wheels. If the platter is bad you may have to do it twice. This is real easy with little polishing. Mother's is sold at Walmart and auto supply stores for $5.00. Of course it will not take out bad scratches. My Thorens platter looked grey and shined in 10 minutes.
Followed you advice. Just got some Mothers mag polish and it looks great, much easier than Brasso and Simichrome. Thanks!
are you going to show the restoration of the turntable what do you mean by the feet what's wrong with the feet use some of those little disc wax candles as feet best thing to use
The original rubber cushions are shot, putting something pretty neat together as they are no longer available.
Blueglow Electronics Sounds interesting are you going to show it.. or leave us in suspense!
I'm not there yet. Still have to figure out a solution.
Save yourself time money and effort....... Autosol.
The only aluminium polish you'll ever need.
Elbow grease is free!!
Thank me later
Omg so frustrating to watch
