I have a poster of this cover on the wall in my comic book room. The 80's and 90's were an exciting time to be a Superman fan. We got that awesome Byrne run in the late 80's, then we got the triangle era in the 90's. Granted, the death thing in #75 was gimmick, but at least it spawned three great villains in Doomsday, Cyborg Superman, and Eradicator - and two new characters in Superboy and John Henry Irons. I love Superman. I love his moral code and his values. It always bugs me when people say he's boring, or when creators try to change him to make him more "edgy." This will probably sound silly, but when I was a little kid growing up, my impression of masculinity and manhood were formed by watching my dad, Captain Kirk, and Superman.
Good role models for sure 👍 Dan Jurgens & Peter J. Tomasi knew exactly how to write Superman. I hate to say it, but I do think Frank Millers DarkcKnight Returns is what gave a bad image to Super forcawhile on top of the atrocious silver age lol.
@@SamGuthrie1977 thankfully the death of Superman kind of put that aside. I love both characters because they compliment each other in their differences akin to Cyclops and Wolverine

@@ChrisMacPresents Yeah, DKR made Batman seem rebellious and cool, while it made Superman feel like a stodgy tool of the establishment.

@@ChrisMacPresents It's too bad that Tomasi and Jurgens era during Rebirth was stopped. It was the best Superman in a long time.
@@SamGuthrie1977 Agreed, but oh did they want to push Bendis on us. I remeber BENDIS IS COMING....yeah and flopped.
I got Superman 🦸♂️ The Man of Steel #1.😀👍
