It's why I really like contrast style paints as washes because of the medium they used it's thick but still fluid, though I'm always trying to find ways to use it other than the way you're supposed to. >_>
Awesome! I can't wait to try out some of these techniques. Thanks for showing artists paint too. I've been trying to do more color mixing with liquitex artist paints to save money and up my artist abilities. Videos like this are a huge boon. You're the man and I always look forward to your stuff! I might have to set aside my saurian army to do mummified undead now lol.
That's a tough call, cause the Saurian's are really great models too, though in my case I'd want to spend a lot of time on them to make them really nice. And ya I use my Liquitex more for two reasons, one is so I can learn how to colour mix properly too, but number two is so that my videos can always be followed with anyone who only has a starter set and some extra paints of any paint line. My logic being that as long as they have the basic colours offered by most miniature paints lines, they should still be able to follow along, which makes it more accessible.
Even when just writing it I knew I was saying 'bone' a lot, so I had to find out just how much I repeated myself. Not many synonyms for Bone unfortunately..:P
Another great vid. You always give great info. Think you could put the size brush you are using in a caption when you switch? When you put that bone highlight, it looked like a 0 or something.
I think it was my GSW Gold #0. The only problem is the sizes don't match up between brands. My green stuff world #2 and my Series 7 #2 both have '2' on the handle but are not even close in size. That said I could always include brand in the caption :D I have been contemplating using lower thirds for Paint/Tools. I just haven't got around to making them.
It's a really had game to balance that background audio. In my headphones, too loud, on my speakers not loud enough. So I try and go with levels but that doesn't always cover every beat. So I can only apologise :P
I'm sorry about that. It's really difficult to balance sometimes. On my headphones it seems fine, but then I can't hear it at all through my speakers, or vice versa. So I try to keep it around -24db but depending on the piece there's just lots going on and even at -24db it can be too much. I try and pick music now that isn't too wildly different over it's length so I run into that issue less.
The contrast medium can be easily replaced with any artist's matte medium and a few drops of flow improver.
the wax paper is the biggest thing i've taken from this, will make clean up sooo much easier!
Holy smokes! I never thought about adding my base color to the wash. Great tip to make the transition less intense

Very helpful mixture! Even though I'm working on a skull shaped mask, i added a hint of dark blue and white to make it more retro colored
This is an amazing video! Thank you! I LOVE the idea of mossy spots. Brilliant!
Just a tiny change in a base colour can really change the direction a look goes :D

Haha ya I guess you would notice how many times ya said bone while editing eh. Great tutorial!

Thank you! Awesome video!

I like the video but those dramatic music stings really screw up the audio when watching on larger speakers lol

Your music gets loud enough in places that I can't hear you :(
