well i have a garmin epix pro2...and a samsung ultra, and an apple ultra2..... why? because i have to stop watching this channel to stop buying watches heheheheh great video!!!!
same here .... like it a lot .... but one down point ... the awake time from sleeping period is not o par with the reality yet ... they should work more at sleeping algorithm
Well done. Thanks for creating! Garmin user who used Apple Watch last in 2019. Bought the S10. Horrible battery life but excellent for day to day activities- phone calls, Tesla watch key, timers and alarms.
meanwhile, there is one watch that did not take the top place in any of the mentioned categories, but in each of them it would rank very high, which ultimately results in a very solid product, not outstanding, but doing great in every field. Simple but very refined and reliable UI, high accuracy of both GPS, OHR and sleep sensors, contextual but very readable map, fast processor, nice, simple and elegant design and affordable price. For me, the watch of the year is the Vantage M3. Agree that Grit X2 Pro is more sexy, but the price is a misunderstanding. Thank you.
Hi, great summary! I started following you this year while searching for a new smartwatch after my Galaxy Watch 2 Active drowned following 4 years of loyal service. I ended up choosing the Amazfit Balance, and I’m very satisfied with it. It’s a model from last year, and in my opinion, it looks slightly better than the T-Rex 3. However, it was thanks to your review of the T-Rex 3 that I decided to go for the Balance. Big thanks for your work-I really enjoy watching your content. Keep it up, and wish you all the best! 🎉
I think I agree with all your choices. Have you heard that polar is bringing an update to all current devices and that update includes improved maps, like POI?
Yup, Polar's Firmware 3.0 is slated to be released in Q1 of 2025. With that there's a bunch of updates including POI support in maps, new watchfaces, more customization, and a new activity interface. Looking forward to it!
Fun video. Heart rate tracking on Pace 3 is unreliable. Unreliable HR affects training load metrics! Just an fyi if it can help anyone out. I learned it the hard way.
I kind of depends, if you wear it where there is more "meat" it improves drastically, as all optical sensors. I do a lot of indoor training on the bike and my Polar H10 is the perfec companion 😀 Just bought the Coros HRM to the missus for convenience.
I bought a titanium Apple Ultra 2 last January.....and I'm enjoying it more as I've gotten an Apple Fitness subscription for indoor rowing and strength training. One thing that was nice about Apple not doing a full upgrade with the Ultra series: the introduction of the Apple milanese loop. It's an expensive accessory, but I've found it adds style and is better engineered than the $30 knock offs on Amazon.
Got the Garmin Fenix 8 a couple of weeks ago. Upgraded from Fenix 7 Pro. I love it!!!! The oled screen is awesome, and I get better battery life than the Fenix 7 with the Fenix 8 in gesture mode. Sold the Fenix 7 Pro for $500 on eBay, so Im only spending $500 out of pocket. The thin bezelz on the 47mm make it looks very modern
Im surprised there wasnt any mention of samsung watch 7 at all. Anyway , i Got the amazing t rex 3 for aud$269 of post Christmas boxing day sale in Oz and it is amazing watch for the value and I'm glad that its the most improved watch of 2024.
curious how they compare for visual accessibility. My understanding the Pixel, Apple, and Samsung will zoom small text. Going for a low light/night activity without glasses that have the reading chips makes it unusable. I have an older Fenix and its limiting my use of this especially in the winter. Often I am presented with text I am unable to read which is kinda infuriating. Its the watch I want, but its not working in a way I am just not able to fix other ways. The Pixel does show promis but limited duration.
This is the video where I feel grateful to have a smart watch at all, belong to that family of cool people, (justify my sub to this channel!), and am genuinely awestruck by the cool new features I may get a year or 18 months from now when the prices are below my threshold. Which is low. Very very low.
I wish you included best overall or the number 1 overall at the end, but i would give that prize to the fenix 8 51 mm amoled hands down !! Thank you so much for this year !!
I have the Fenix 8 amoled Titanium sapphire , Garmin forerunner 955, Coros Pace 3 and recently bought the Apple watch 10. Even I use the Fenix 8 on my runs and sleep, during the day I just don't use it anymore. The Apple watch 10 is amazing. In terms of running too. Yesterday I did an interval session 5x3 minutes with a chest strap connected to Fenix 8 and Apple watch ohr and Apple watch spot on in HR and distance. I'm actually impressed how good the Apple watch is on instant pace and pace changes. I use stryd with the Garmin and I don't notice any lag in the instant pace on the Apple watch. I didn't expect that. Great video. Happy new year🎉 cheers from Portugal
@@mart2.n I just mentioned I have the pace 3 . Pace 3 Is from 2023 and the forerunner 955 from 2022 . The only two from 2024 is the Fenix 8 amoled and the Apple watch 10. And to be honest the Fenix 8 it was the most expensive mistake . I had the Fenix 7 solar and is the same thing with an amoled display. Between the Fenix 8 and Apple watch 2 ultra I think Fenix should take the award. They only change the size of screen, interface and increase the price in 300 euros. Is the only category I don't agree with the prize😂
@@mart2.n accuracy of pace 3 is great, the only issue is the pace lag, I don't have that problem because I use stryd. Other than that in terms of distance and the metrics they delivery is great. If you make the fitness test they provide you pace and HR zones , pace ranges for specific workouts . If you only want a running focus watch, theres no competition, is my honest opinion.
I want to say thank you for very nice videos and reviews during the year! Great content! Myself I bought a Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro this year and thought you were going to review it. It is very much a smart sport watch. Any thoughts about it?
For the algorithm. Dabbled with the Fenix 8 briefly but sent it back, couldn’t get past a few bug issues. My other watch is an AWU2 Black, so I’ll stick with that and see what 2025 has in store!
In my opinion a smartwatch has to be pretty since is also an accesory. For me the most beautiful is the garmin fenix 8 . Especially the 47 mm on amoled or solar, and the solar 51 mm version that have smaller bezels. Amoled 51mm has bigger bezels. All of them combined with the original leather strap.
Great video as always! You know a lot about sport watches!🏆🥇 When you announce the navigation award, you list all the Fenix and Epix models of Garmin. Is there any difference between the mapping experience of the Fenix and the Forerunner 9xx line? I own a 965 and wonder if I miss something from the Fenixes in terms of mapping.
If Coros brings AMOLED and the other upgrades in the pace pro to the Apex and the Vertix lines, I think they’re going to bring home some big wins on Smartwatch Awards 2025. Personally waiting for an AMOLED Apex myself!
This my Choice but the best sports watch is the Fenix 8 amoled 🙌 Best battery enduro 3✅ Best under $500 coros pace pro👍 Best value amazfit t-rex 3🍺 Honourable mention Forerunner 965 🙌
Me literally 30 seconds ago: online looking at a bunch of articles trying to find a watch to replace my old watch that just broke :/ Me wanting a break: opens UA-cam, sees this video, clicks immediately
Great video! I agree with the winners/losers. I would add that the Garmin won innovative because of the new OS as well, despite bugs. I think you should add a best fitness watch category next year, which the Garmin Fenix 8 would win in my opinion.
for myself Garmin still king by far on Training/Tracking. But for SmartWatch use my Galaxy Ultra have been on my arm more than my AW Ultra so guess 2024 it´s Garmin and Samsung for me. :))
I am trying to decide between the COROS Pace 3 and the Garmin Forerunner 165. I don’t care about the music aspect. I just want a watch that accurately tracks my daily steps and workout steps, and tracks daily and workout calorie burn. I want it to accurately track my running pace, time, and distance. I need it to have an option for interval training, and tracks my blood oxygen and heart rate accurately. And I’d like to be able to see all the data displayed so I can alter my training as needed. I do treadmill, road, and trail running as I live way out in the country. I have an iPhone and want to make sure the app works well on iOS and is user friendly. I currently have an Apple Watch which is terrible to train with and barely lasts 15 hours. I’m training for my first ever marathon and the AW is not cutting it.
I Huawei li hai dimenticati? Io ho acquistato un gt 5 pro che secondo me ha il miglior sensore e sicuramente il miglior gps ed una delle estetiche più belle in assoluto con un ottima batteria. Capisco il ban degli Stati Uniti ma non puoi non menzionarlo
It’s a good one but didn’t stand out in any of these areas in my opinion. That said, it’s a great option if you’re invested in the Samsung ecosystem. Really boils down to your particular situation.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
955 is a great watch! I tried to stick to watches released in 2024 for this one. Though, I would argue the Suunto Race S / Race / Vertical might edge out the 955 in terms of GPS accuracy but not by much!
It’s a sport watch with super long battery life so it won’t have the same snappiness as an Apple Watch but it’s something you get used to pretty quickly.
I'd replace the TRex 3 with the huewei gt 5 for the value for money. The t-rex 3 has too much inaccuracy and simple things are made too difficult on the watch.
Amazfit -- sorry but the current online attention to this brand and this watch in particular seems misplaced. Amazfit seems like a poor value in the long term, like most copycat products -- "still pretty quirky" is not something I want in a sports watch.
Bought a fenix 8 after seeing it here and pondering options. I’m happy with it. Upgraded from a fenix 6x and, to be honest, it doesn’t feel that innovative. I do like it though I don’t love it. Still wish it was a better smart watch with cellular connections, payment (doesn’t work here in uk) and messaging. Ah well. Can’t have everything. I imagine I’ll end up with an Apple product next as they will catch garmin eventually. Keep up the good work Dave. Happy new year to you.
I got the TRex 3 bc of your review and love it. Had it since summer and super happy with it. Especially for the price.

I got the Garmin Fenix 8 51mm Amoled after watching your review. I absolutely love it!
Great review, have the TRex 3 bc of your review, working great!
How do you manage and sync all the data using various devices
I typically use Strava to aggregate but most of these platforms also sync to Apple health with helps
Oh, we learned how to add effects now?
😂 I took some lessons on UA-cam
Thank Dave, great ranking. Happy new year to you.
