This roadside tourist attraction is located just off Interstate 75 in Sweetwater, TN. it is a unique natural wonder which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as “America’s Largest Underground Lake”. While we could not kayak the underground lake within the Craighead Cavern, the tour does offer an 8 minute boat ride as part of the guided tour. The Lost Sea has been designated a Registered Natural Landmark by the U.S. Dept. of Interior.

Who doesn't love a cave? Lol. The misses and I hope to visit Howe Caverns in upstate NY later this month. I haven't been there since I was a kid.

I am surprised how big and deep the lake is. The fish were so big. It is a good walk to the lake though. Very interesting
and this is only a portion of the lake, there are other ares which have been deemed unsafe to explore

I have a great idea of a place for you to visit!
There is a location here in south-central Indiana that DOES allow you to paddle a provided kayak through an underground waterway. It is called Blue Springs Caverns. Previously they did not have the kayaks, but when the pandemic hit they got creative and developed a new tour to enjoy. They provide you with a kayak and paddle, and PFD. This tour takes ones to places the previously run boat tours do not travel. I am looking forward to taking this tour some time through the winter since the temps in the cave remain constant.
