Okay here's some interesting facts:
· Masato Nakamura recorded the Sonic/Sonic 2 OST in his personal studio, and then sent the audio back to SEGA so they can code it for the Genesis. Little to no noticable changes ended up happening, and you can still find the original audio tracks by searching them like so: e.g. "Green Hill - Masa Mix".
· You actually like the vocal tracks from Heroes that are written in a Minor Key instead of the other that are written in a Major Key.
· 06 and Unleashed have a cinematic feel to them because the sound director was Tomoya Ohtani, the same person behind Frontiers OST success.
· Ohtani's metal compositions (Titan Themes) for Frontiers are his first time using a 9 string Guitar. In case you don't understand, it's a guitar that can CHUG very hard.
Well I was more talking about for genesis sonic how he had little to go off for level themes and had to make some pretty unique songs. But they still managed to be bangers
Seven rings in hand is honestly really good outside from the overplayed aspect of it. And Unleashed's soundtrack is unbelievably peak, definitely the best of the series for me. S tier main theme, S tier instrumentation and orchestration, incredibly coherent sound even with the huge variety of styles, the amazing high energy Day stage tracks contrasting with the more ambient, beautiful Night stage tracks that are still surprisingly driven. It truly feels like an adventure through a big but decidedly human world. Its singular issue is, much like secret rings, it has one particular track that was ill-advisedly overplayed.
Thing is that Sonic the Hedgehog as a series and franchise can do any type of music genre like piano, rock music, EDM, metal, etc and it just works lol. For example, if you tried to add “Undefeatable” in a Mario game, it just wouldn’t work but would for Sonic lol
The sonic unleashed ost to this day still manages to blow my mind with how incredible it is
Since you said to correct you, the actual first vocal theme for a mainline game wasn't Sonic Adventure, but the ones from sonic CD: Toot Toot Sonic Warrior (Japanese soundtrack) and Sonic Boom (US soundtrack) 🤓😂. But seriously fun video, I listen to Sonic music WAY too much, so it's always nice to hear people appreciate it.

I get why people hate the Forces soundtrack but it’s got to me in my top 5. It’s not for everyone but I love it. And Faded Hills is a banger
Same, I love the modern sonic and avatar tracks, the classic sonic ones tho are mediocre at best
I like the theme "His world" because of how it mixes guitars and violins,2 things that just don't seem like they'd work well together,yet work together perfectly.
Imagine how hard core I'd be if Generations had the prototype lizard as one of the bosses.

Sonic CD's soundtrack is an easy 10/10 from me, easily the best OST out of all the classic games.
Did you know there are dedicated sonic albums and singles? There was even a song made by right said fred (who made "I'm too sexy") called wonderman to advertise sonic 3 in europe.
Thw first vocal tracks in the series are you can do anything, cosmic eternity and sonic boom, all from CD
For a video titled "Why sonic music is incredible", it hardly explained why and mainly just said which ones you liked 💀
Oreogod however did a phenomenal job at least going into detail about what instruments and styles made the ost's as good as they are, unlike the rest of the video which just rated them outta 10 :p
I more talk about what specific tracks impact the audience, showing instead of telling why sonic music is good, because it has a effect on the audience in a significant way

@@stephaniejohnson5361 I did provide a reason. Because there is very little music. Now I will rephrase, sonic colours is a smaller game so it didn’t need more songs but compared to the songs we have gotten it doesn’t size up

@@stephaniejohnson5361 the classic games came out in the 90’s and were the start to the franchise on much weaker hardware and with less technical capabilities. Yet I would argue I like them more

Sonic 3D era OST, specially SA2 and S’06 is still my main running playlist to this day. Everything from the lyrics to the riffs and drums just screams “Live and Learn” and “Believe in Yourself” so much.
Also, this whole formula of replaying or remixing the main title for the final battle has something so satisfying, you’ve been trough thick and thin with this story and these characters and then you have this final clash where all comes together.
Fun fact: The Sonic Adventure 1 version of Unknown from M.E. was sung by the same person who voiced PaRappa the Rapper

I get it if Reach for the Stars doesn’t sell it, but each different area of Colors has a good theme, plus the variant themes.

honestly undefeatable is my favourite, when I got the final chaos emerald and the song started I knew it was gonna be a banger, the entire fight I focused more on the song than the boss

Personally, I love Sonic songs a lot! But with forces, I do agree that it's mostly bad. Aside from fist bump but that's just nostalgia from it being my introduction to sonic music and sonic as a whole.

Colours was done dirty. I has some of the best orchestral in the series. Planet wisp, aquarium park, asteroid coaster best environment music. The final phase boss music was peak.
In comparison to, 06, unleashed, secret rings, black knight, frontiers. I have to disagree. It falls short

I just wish that Vandalize played at some point in the hard difficulty. I completely missed it the first time I played Sonic Frontiers. After hearing Vandalize, I looked into One OK Rock’s other songs and found some bangers. It would’ve been nice to give them more spotlight. Outta Sight, Dreamer, and Mad World are up there for me. Frontiers had such a good soundtrack especially with the vocal themes 🤩

Sonic music means so much to me and has had a profoundly positive impact on me over 25 years I've been alive. This franchise honestly has some of the best video game music, and just music in general, out of any game I've ever played. It is always a highlight for me (save for Forces, because idk what happened there and why the quality dropped so significantly) to hear these pieces, and some just have a very sentimental feeling to me as I've grown up with it. Colors in particular will always be a top favorite of mine, I remember that it was my first ever game on the Nintendo DS Lite, and I played that shit all the time, Reach For The Stars is basically ingrained in my memory at this point I've heard it so many times. Crush 40 for sure left an impact on me, I listen to them pretty much all the time, from His World to Open Your Heart to Live And Learn, they're all fucking fantastic.

You can see the bias towards games people just hate because both lost world and forces have great soundtracks but since everyone hates those games no one even bothers to actually listen to the actual bangers it has to offer

I feel the reason why the heroes theme don’t hit for some is due to the age they were coming out adventure 2 is a perfect sequel for the people who swerve playing adventure, by the time heroes came around they were going for a more universal target rather than the teenagers who were blown away by both adventure games

I'd also like to know your opinion about the 3d blast soundtrack, the game itself is forgettable, but i think it has the most underrated Sonic soundtrack for both versions of the game, especially the saturn version.

Idk personally. I really like Reach for the Stars, Speak with your Heart, Fist Bump, and Infinite. I will say as a whole, especially compared to Frontiers and even Sonic Adventures 1 & 2, they are kinda lacking.

I didn’t write the script for the unleashed part as that was a collab. Personally I love the werehog songs as they fit just as well as the day time stages!

I agree with almost everything, Forces and Frontiers has some... Mixed things for me.
Forces has one good song, and it's Infinite's theme. No exceptions.
I'm Here was kinda a weak song for me, NGL. I do like every other song though, it's just I like to have more variety with the instruments. IDK, maybe I just dislike EDM.

I know you're only taking the mainline Sonic soundtrack, but I beg to differ. For me, the worst Sonic soundtrack is Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. The only time I'll hear more blindly recorded music is with Wownow entertainment movies. I don't remember any of them, every single one sounded exactly the same and it's just garbage. And I consider Sonic forces to be the weakest soundtrack of all the games. But it still has some decent soundtrack in it. Rise of Lyric? No.
