this song reminds me of high school. my best friend was romantically involved with a teacher there, and we always sang this song. she literally was half his age.
Lolita - Book by Vladimir Nabokov written in 1955 she was a 12 year old named Dolores Haze. In 1962 they made a film based off of the novel. Nabokov also wrote the screenplay.
Thanks for that info. I read that book when I was around 13 or 14 years old. 1958 or 1959 it was my first " dirty " novel. Followed by the novel Candy . Hilarious and filthy at the same time .LOL
Its crazy when I tell my friends I love The Police. Being a black male in American I feel like I can't say this without people looking at me like I'm stupid. :/ Like i HAVE to say "the band." right after lol

LOL, I remember my mom would play this on car rides when I was like 4, I remember her and I would jam to the catchy lyrics....years later I’m like.... oh....
So many songs... They get you with the rhythm, then you notice the words. Some may say it makes the song worse, but it just adds a new intrigue to it for me. Not that I'm really rooting for the individuals in the song, it just makes you think more deeply
It's a lot of songs like that out there that I used to just Bop my head too But now when you listen to the words of some of these songs they were talking about young girls and old men
Had an English teacher in 9th grade who was extremely hot. I swear that every male student looked her up and down. I was no exception. I suspect that every kid has had a teacher that they found extremely attractive
I never really got this song when I was younger, then earlier today I heard Nabokov in the song. "WAIT A MINUTE THATS THE AUTHOR OF LOLITA!" I understand this song now.
It’s like with “Hey Ya!” and “Pumped Up Kicks”. Once you understand what the story of the lyrics propose, your mind turns the opposite way of what you thought the song was from what you remember previously.
"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul, Lo-Lee-Ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta." -Lolita By Vladimir Nabokov.
I had a crush on my English teacher. Once he walked me to the counselor's office and he placed his hand on my back while we walked and I was in heaven :P
I think the serious Police fans are probably sick of this song and are listening to shit by them they haven’t heard a million times. You must not be a serious Police fan. I know I’m not

I'm very glad I found out the lyrics to this song now, AFTER the release of a certain tactical RPG in which the player character becomes a professor. Because otherwise I'd be just horrified. Granted, still horrified, but I can continue to listen to it.
I dated a few of my teachers, at different times, while in highschool, so I can relate very well to the lyrics. It brings back many ambiguous memories. I am much older now and in hindsight I recognize how these flings were advantageous to them but not to me. I was young and eager to please. I realized now, the attraction wasn't really physical but it was mostly due to the position of authority they represented. They exploited the idea that I felt special knowing there was a secret between us. None lasted past high school. I never did that in college even when the opportunity presented itself. It's never an equal relationship. If I could go back to that time, I never would've become involved with any of them.
@@gloriapiza8125 eh, you knew what you we're getting in to. Sounds like double standards to me if you don't consider it "advantageous" to yourself as well. They gave you the D didn't they? Then you got what you wanted.
