They recently buffed (sorta) Mega Slaking with a new ability called "Ape Shift", which transforms it into another form when below 50% HP, cures its statuses, and ALWAYS crits. And guess what? It doesn't have any drawbacks similar to Truant whatsoever, so you give this thing Slack Off, and it's free to wreak havoc. So long as there aren't any fighting types around, that is
You know how it works rn, but sidenotes: This will be a case where some personal bias may show but otherwise it is analytical. (Also from that those who are well tuned may figure out who I actually am at this point): Glaile: You aren’t wrong to put this thing in last place. Even with moody being unbanned, at best it’s a gimmick that rarely ever actually works due to how much just beats it, and that’s not going to change going into 2.5. Slaking: Tbh I can see the perspective of putting it low… but in all honesty, super strain isn’t really a hinderance. The recoil is easily offset by running my slack off, and you can even offset the stat decrease via running bulk up, since it hits hard enough to where it only needs it’s stabs, so that way you can bulk up as the Mon you come in on runs away for how many times you need to, nuke the Mon that comes in, and then at the very least be at neutral attack so that you can kill something else. 2.5 mega slaking though, that’s a can of worms I have no clue about, so I have no right to judge yet. Abomasnow is rightfully represented in its ranking, and it’s likely even worse than it seems due to north wind’s ban. Since that ban disables the Ability in ou, if it runs snow warning it effectively has no ability when it mega evolves, while north wind pre mega gives it no ability to start with, so it’s only option is mountaineer->ice body. This is also likely going to remain true in 2.5. Froslass: On paper it seems like it would be a scary sweeper between slush rush and white out with its stat spread. Tiny problem tho: It’s only threatening when it’s using ice stab, the moment it’s forced to use anything else, it’s PITIFULLY weak, to the point where it struggles killing even things as simple as spedef heatran. Dewgong: It was actually recently released into ou due to the ability ban rework, and since base gong was banned, mega gong was released as well. Will it be used? Nope, gong at least has a role as a niche check to things like Yard. Mega takes up the mega slot for a relatively underwhelming Mon, at best it relies on rng with fury attack to be threatening. Redux Beedrill: The thing is overall out done by the original mega Beedrill, because the strength of adapt u-turn is that far, especially since it’s far stronger at it’s peak (merciless). Is redux mbee bad? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Even though it’s outclassed by the original… it’s still A mega beedrill. It’s still extremely fast and strong with a terrifying stab combo. Even has some traits that make the original jealous. For instance, the original wishes it can handle flying types like lando or the steel birds as effortlessly as the redux form. Lapras: To those that say #1 is a toss up between Lapras Y and redux mbee: It is very much not. Lapras Y is a Mon that essentially does anything you need it to do: hit-taking capability? Its bulk makes ho-oh look like deoxys attack in comparison, while packing reliably recovery. Utility? it has a slow flip turn perfect for capitalizing on it’s low speed and godlike hit-taking ability to get it’s teammates in safely. Anti passivity? It has the unresisted stab combo of liquid voice boomburst and freeze dry which, while it can be blobbed, makes sure it isn’t taken advantage of that easily. Does it deserve being banned from ou? Definitely not. Despite all I mentioned it still has exploitable weaknesses and flaws: Vulnerable to passive damage Not good into boosters, especially bulky kinds Low pp on it’s most important moves like boomburst or recover (worsened if you run sheer cold over freeze dry which is why it’s ill advised to do so) All leading to the main dynamic: Against do or die teams it STOMPS. But drag out a game and it gets worn out fast. Because of this, despite the bulk, it’s not meant to be a stall Mon, you’d be better off using megas like mega aggron for something of that caliber. This Mon is actually meant to be a Mega for offensive teams who would like the sturdy backbone and pivoting. The latter of which gives it that niche in the first place: Mega aggron and similar megas of this bulky caliber don’t have ways to pivot in teammates, thus being unable to keep momentum. Lapras can provide that bulk while still maintaining momentum for the offensive teams it’s on.
I just completed my Mono Ice Doubles LC run, and I had to deal with quite a few of these. Glacia had Mega Lapras and Mega Dewgong, which mm2wood the Snover had to slowly chip down with Leech Seed, while Bork the Spheal kept Lapras down with Yawn. I WOULD'VE had to deal with Mega Beedrill Redux, but Lapras got rid of it for me with its Boomburst. (Also, Nabiu the Snorunt was on the team from the moment I got her because North Wind is so good.) If I were to use Mega Glalie in a normal run, I'd run it with Protect and a mixed set, possibly leaning more into bulk; that way, Moody can take full advantage of any offensive boost it gets. Sheer Cold is essentially to Freeze-Dry what Blizzard is to Ice Beam (minus the spread), so it can run that with a Snow Warning setter to punish Water-types. Rapid Spin might be a good choice as well, just to build up more Speed while attacking and negate any Speed drops. Looking at the dex, Mega Slaking recently got buffed in 2.5, but before that buff, I'd say run it with the classic Neutralizing Gas Weezing to let its raw stats do the talking. Alternatively, Topsy-Turvy can be Prankster boosted; time it right and Ariados brand coffee will punch enough holes in a team to let everyone else finish up. Shame it can't run a Shell Bell! Not much to say about Abomasnow. Run it in Trick Room and it can go crazy, just make sure you have a plan for Fire types. Mega Froslass is the kind of thing that would draw out Sucker Punches and Shadow Sneaks, so having a Priority blocker or Psychic Terrain setter would be highly recommended. It was a stroke of luck that I forgot to remove Leech Seed from mm2wood; it was necessary to break through a lot of the bulkier mons in the Elite Four, including Mega Dewgong. Mono Water teams will really appreciate Lightning Rod in Doubles. The Redux Weedle line is good at doing one thing very well- mastering one kick a thousand times, as the saying goes. In Beedrill's case, that one thing is pure hyper offense (as opposed to Weedle being a specially-bulky speed controller, and Kakuna just kinda being there I guess), which is always easy to find a place for. U-Turn is a fantastic choice on this thing, just like with regular Mega Beedrill; with a bulky pivot or two to switch into, it'll easily be able to play around bad matchups. Mega Lapras needs no introduction. It wins the same way its basis (G-Max Lapras) won TerminalMontage's Battle Royale: staying there and refusing to die.
If you're playing doubles mode, I swear, get a trickroom setter, and Abomasnow, spam Blizzard. The game becomes super easy in Ace mode with harder level caps
Yo, whats you opinion on the 2.5 beta, so far im loving it the new redux and megas pokemon are too fucking cool, mega redux flygon is my personal favorite
cool video. see i know the joke went over your head. the comical part of said comment is that i had commented cool video on a video about ice type pokemon, and ice is regularly cold. if you were to freeze water that would solidify it into said ice because of how low the temperature is, and if something is "cool" it is "chilled" or is at a low temperature. thank you for your time. if you read all of this you are pretty chill. see the joke there is tha
Bros joke got some chilly reception. See that was a play on words in two ways. Both it being a Pokemon move hence the video and also chilly being cold. Lmao
It's basically unstoppable force versus immovable object between the two, one is gonna break through almost anything, while the other is just gonna tank so well it scores kills by just applying pressure and outlasting their target.
Im tired of this mega glalie hate. Sure its ass in game but swing in gen 7 OU and watch return earthquake explosion put it mad work. Oh whats that? Bulky mfs coming in like skarm or mola? Well hes also got SPIKES! i know its nothing huge but i swear to god it has 100 TIMES the niche mega abomasnow has. Yes this has nothing to do with elite redux
Bro this game getting so boring now . I did Randomized starter only , grass starter only , fire starter only and water . Normal only . I hope they add Randomizer Team's for Every boss too .

Recently did an ice type mono run on mac difficulty settings. Hard agree on the top 3. Mega lapras is an absolute monster
Thats why Glacia has all 3 of them lmaooo
Theres a mac and cheese difficulty?
Mega Lapras
An absolute wall, really hard to take down and with great offense as well
It's just perfect

super tank!

I think Dewgong is better to not mega, its a great support and wasting your mega slot on it is kinda a waste
Try running fury atrack + hardened sheath
Always loving the content ❤
Did a mono redux run a few months ago. Beedrill was a lot of fun to use
Thankfully I just recently started my Mono runs, so I can jump in 2.5 without having to redo many.
Well, mega dewgong is just top 3 because nobody has discovered the Hardened Sheath + Fury attack synergy
I recently made a randomized game and omg i found a mega lap with prismatic fur north wind combo and its really op
This video is ice cold
Mega Lapras Y is the best in my opinion also
you know what would be really broken? having all of them in the team with permanent megas🥶🥶🥶
2.5 IS OUT THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO DISCUSS SEE YALL ON THE OTHER SIDE😭😭😭😭😭

With minimal Support and set up, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING beats Mega Beedrill Redux.
I'd say no. 1 and 2 can very well be swapped based on scenario.
It's basically unstoppable force versus immovable object between the two, one is gonna break through almost anything, while the other is just gonna tank so well it scores kills by just applying pressure and outlasting their target.
we need mega porygon
