I think I know exactly what you meant with BTS's choreography being more like freestyle but synchronized at the same time. I think it's because they have big movements and they look like they are really enjoying their stages and just overall look cohesive. Their choreography is often a combination of various dance styles so in one performance alone you can see them melting their moves, jumping around, sharp execution, and creating various pictures. Plus, when they perform, it's always high level so even if some members do dance adlibs here and there, they still end up looking smooth and clean :)
They all look cool, but Suga tho. I mean... his outfit, hair, his everything! OMG I swear he just always looks so cool in this song. I feel like this just fits his vibe.

I think what distinguishes BTS' Choreography from other groups is that it's in synch but not robotic. Each member has their own distinguishable dancing style and vibe which makes the performance look like they're getting lit rather than performing for a camera. Jhope is obviously the best dancer and his technique is perfection, Jimin brings a sexy aura to the Choreo, Jungkook is smooth as fuck with his dancing (it's subtle but effective), V is V 😂, Suga suge is chill with it, and Rapmon is always changing the choreography to suit him rather than trying to dance it the way it's taught. I didn't leave Jin out. I think Jin probably is the most robotic of them all. He was never a strong dancer and still isn't but when you have a Jhope, a Jimin, a Jungkook and a V who are great dancers and ooooozeeeee with charisma, you gotta keep up and Jin does a fantastic job keeping toe to toe with his members. BTS is just a really well balanced group and the fact that each member has a distinguished dancing style while the group is still in synch makes their performances really enjoyable. They actually have fun on stage and I think that's fucking dope.
