I like to watch Acrobatic lion dance in Malaysia, and I am amazed with the hard work and dedication by the people. and the tradition has pass through generation.
@@smilingface2006 Bu dong hua may be not all can speak, but dialect like Fujian, Hakka, Teo Chew yes because it's used in family speaking daily. A lot of us also have a Chinese name used in family, but formal occasion or in ID Card, we use Indonesian/western name embedded with our family name.

Our Chinese ancestors set foot in Malaysia as early as 400 years ago and they brought along the Chinese culture into the country.. that was even before China became a communist country.. Malaysia preserves the Chinese culture way better than any countries in the world outside of China.
I think the "growing" refers to cross-ethnic participation. Of course the Chinese-Malaysians themselves will continue to celebrate Chinese New Year and perform the lion dances, but now the other ethnic groups within Malaysia are also participating and that is perhaps a newer phenomenon.
