Changing Dell Latitude e7470 laptop ram from 8gb to 16gb Pretty and worth it. Cost only $22 Used.

Recently I was given an old Dell E7470 I5 laptop.
It had only 8gb of ram, so I checked.... in bios f2, and I was able to see only one slot was taken.
So I shopped abit and found out that I could either get a new 8gb chip for $34.99 or buy it used from ebay for around $21.99.
I went with the used route because obviously it was $13 cheaper but also it would allow me to match the ram pairs.
I purchased it on ebay.

The seller did a great job of packaging and sent it ground USPS. I picked this shipper from reno nevada because he was located close to where I live (relatively close) California.

You can see in this video.. Installation is very easy.
This is not a tutorial vid. I didn't even watch any videos on youtube. I had heard from my IT personnel at work that these were easy to work on.
All you do is remove 8 screws on the bottom then lift the bottom cover off the laptop. VOILA.
After I installed the memory I did the following:
1. Tried to boot with the new memory and check in BIOS if the ram was recognized
2. Booted into windows and then did the Memory Diagnostic Tool in windows (which requires booting into it).
The memory diagnostic takes roughly 10-20 min... and when I ran it.. there were no issues.
So... so far it's looking good for me.. buying used ram. 8gb cost only $21.99 + tax.... vs spending $34.99 on new ram.
My next video will probably be to replace the battery. It's now 2022 and the battery installed on the laptop is from I believe 2016. Technology always needs some updating!

Should I buy dell 7470 or Lenovo Thinkpad t460s ?

Both are good.. and have the comparable specs.
NOTE: Dell 7470 comes in models with low rest 720p screens . If you choose to get a dell,.. get the dell with 1080p screen resolution..
The dell series is known for a bad battery at this point. So be careful.. even with refurbs from dell... I replaced the battery knowing that it has swelling issues and can damage components (most likely the motherboard.)
That being said... I prefer Thinkpad's.
I've never heard of battery swelling issues that damage the laptop for thinkpads.
I only have a dell because my brother gave it to me.
What were you thinking of getting?
